  1. Using your HOTWIRE link, I was able to get a full-size @ $14.95 at the Austin Airport from 4/30-5/3. Priceline wasn't working out and I was aiming for under $100 tax included. Can't believe that the taxes/fees almost equal the car rental price! Is this normal cross country, or is this a TX thing? I just don't remember the extra fees being so high here in Cali!
  2. May 2-3, 2010. Yep, this coming Sunday. Thx!
  3. Anyone have any idea what the $114 hotel is? The Radisson?
  4. Hello! Using your HOTWIRE link, I did find one S (Suite, thx for that tip, BTW). But it wasn't anywhere near downtown. Since it's only one nite, we'd be able to have one room, especially if it's higher end and walking distance to sites, sounds, food and drink! The most expensive $114 was a 4-star: 4-star hotel in Downtown Austin and Town Lake This hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Haven't decided whether to bate PRICELINE or not. Thoughts?
  5. UPDATE: We ended up changing our destination to Las Vegas. Looking back on it, NYC would have been a much better trip. Thx for the replies.
  6. I'm trying to figure out if PRICELINE or HOTWIRE have hotels like the Doubletree or another suite-like site? I do see the DT on their sites (using your links, thx!) but I don't know if they're biddable? Any suggestions most appreciated. BTW, I used your site a couple years ago for NYC. Glad to see you're still in biz. best regards
  7. I'm looking at NOvember 3, 4, 5, 6, which is beginning ,mid-week, as well as Election Day. I forgot about Xmas season... even though it's before TDay! Thx for the response!
  8. Last year, you turned me on to the Beekman (May, 2007) and have looked into staying there again. But reading through your website and your links, I've seen the prices are almost double what I paid and with the new management, the quality has changed. Any hints on how to find something comparable for 3 of us to share... I liked the suite situation, but that seems difficult to find. Looking to pay between 200-300/nite for 3-4 nites. Am I looking too far in advance? I don't mind booking something in advance, as long as they allow cancellations? We're looking beginning of November, after the marathon, perhaps during Election day. Thanks for your help... you did me great last time! best regards, hk
  9. No problem, thereuare! I didn't feel quite right about it. I am happy about the Beekman Tower and the website you linked me to. Even my travel book talks about the view at the restaurant bar. Have you stayed there?
  10. Has anyone used: <removed> I just typed in my travel plans as well as the price I payed at EasyClickTravel and it matched the price to $188? Too good to be true? EDIT by thereuare: i have removed the link in question because based upon a little research i believe it to be a scam (see my reply and their affiliation below)... we don't typically edit links in this fashion but will do so when there is something we believe to be false or misleading (you can thank us later for all the "free ringtone" offers we remove which most of you never see :)), we will include the link once again if we become comfortable or learn more to give us confidence that this company is legitimate
  11. I took your advice and booked the Beekman through the easyclicktravel link you posted. Thanks! We ended up getting the 1 bdrm suite with sofabed for $208. From what I've researched, no one can beat the price! Do you think it's worth dealing with priceline at this point... I went up as far as $175 for 3* MTS, MTE, MTW and soho, no bites, and I started at $150 with MTS, going up $10 in the order shown. I need to now figure out the transport to/from JFK. I'm sure you having some hints somewhere here. Thx again.
  12. Thx for the tip and the links to Quikbook and EasyClickTravel. I've bookmarked these through your links. I'm going to look into the Beekman as well as a couple others I saw there. I'll have to check into their cancellation policies. I'm going to keep trying with PL... I am addicted :)
  13. I spent a couple months in LES, so I don't have a big problem staying in Soho. I was thinking it was cheaper. But I've no problem with MTS, MTW, MTE. I'd like to spend under $200, preferably $150-175. My gf has a reservation at the budget Madison Hotel for $149. If I can get something 3-4* for for $25-50 more a nite, I'd rather do that. I use PL all the time for Los Angeles and San Francisco rooms and have great luck. NYC has been a bit more difficult and a lot more $$. I did try PL today, using the savingsbarn.com link, but no bites! helen
  14. I'm looking for a 3-4* in Downtown Soho area, as well MTS, MTE, MTW. We're not too picky, but want things late nite things to do. I've been PL, and have gone up from $125-150. No bites yet. Any suggestions? Thx in advance!
