  1. Started bidding at 75, 80 and got it at 85. Both times I was countered 96 which I declined and just rebid.
  2. Bid up to 135$ today to no avail. Express deal is offering it at 173$, how far away can I be from a winning bid?
  3. Tried another bid for 110 and still failed.... Checked the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for alstadt 5* and it was priced at 173. I wonder which hotel it is .....
  4. I am trying to bid for a 5* in the Alstadt area of Munich. Started bidding at USD90 and in increments of $5 up to 105 with no luck so far..... I searched the priceline maps and it seems the lone winning bid for 5* Alstadt was in 2012 for Sofitel. Any other ideas on possible hotels which can be had for that area?
  5. so far, i tried bidding from 135, 145, 155 and 165 with no luck.... was bidding on the gangnam area only is the downtown seoul area any fun?
  6. I am looking at the Gangnam district. Actually, downtown Seoul is also ok. As long as I can get a good deal. Been checking the priceline map and there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of bids for Seoul. Hopefully I can get something at around 150USD for a 5*.
  7. I have a trip coming up for Seoul from Dec 22-26. Conventional booking would cost me about 250 min plus taxes. Would I be lucky enough to get a good deal considering its the holiday season or are my chances slim? I am looking at 4 or 5*, preferably 5*....
  8. $225 was the highest i was willing to go and finally today, got it at $225 for sofitel st james again. started bidding from 175. counter offer for 258 started showing from bid $205 up to $220. I remember bidding at 225 yesterday and getting rejected.
  9. ideally, i would have wanted it to be around 200. low 200's would probably be my cut off point.
  10. Been bidding since yesterday from $160-220 without any success so far. At 205 and up, priceline keeps on countering a $258 one time counter offer which I am not taking up. I close the screen and start bidding a bit higher and the same counter offer came up since yesterday....
  11. After several attempts, got a winning bid at $195 per night for May 13-15 at Sofitel St. James. Compared to prevailing rates in other websites, my winning bid seems like a great deal. On to my next assignment May 27-30. What is a nice area for senior tourists, after Mayfair?
  12. Just a quick question, is the Wyndham at Chelsea Harbour considered in Mayfair or Kensington? Found the answer, Wyndham is at Kensington. So Kensington is not a free re-bid zone then. I bid up to 190 and PL was countering at 225 which I did not take up.
  13. Tried bidding for mayfair 5* for May 13-15 and was unsuccessful from 155-175 (in 5 $ increments). I made the mistake of adding all the zones one after the other, so I cannot bid anymore. I wonder if changing computers will allow me to start rebidding once again.
  14. Thanks a lot for the tip. What about for the Mayfair area, any hotels I should be wary of in the 5* or 4 * category. Or rather, which hotels are most likely to be won. The travelers will be in age category of 60+ and probably convenient tube connections is a plus but of course I understand we cannot choose the hotels.
  15. Hi everyone, will be in London on the following dates: May 5-7 May 13-15 May 27-31 I am thinking of staying in the Mayfair/Soho district and Chelsea/Knightsbridge for the 3 date ranges. What would be a realistic bid for the 2 districts? I am thinking 5* for both districts. Also, I understand there are free re-bid zones for if I am bidding for 5* Mayfair or Knightsbridge? What are those free re-bid zones?
  16. i tried bidding again today up to 320 with no luck. might try again...
  17. I tried bidding it from $125 all the way to $270 and still no luck. Is there any special event on the weekend of Oct 11? I was checking out the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and the highest winning bid was $270 for the Oct.11. If I wait out, what do you think are my chances of landing a winning bid for said night?
  18. yes ts, esb and cps are also ok. i guess my main concern is to be able to bring down my lodging cost....
  19. What is an appropriate bidding strategy to get a MTE or MTW 4* for an overnight stay on Oct. 11? I am looking at spending 200 or less, if possible. Appreciate your help, thanks in advance.
  20. I have been bidding for the past several days for May 19 and 20, 2* / 2.5* / 3* Jersey City with no luck. My bids ranged from USD80-158. Today it seems luck was on my side. First bid USD130 and i was told to add USD22. I closed the screen and rebid at USD140 and got it. Its higher than what I wanted to pay but at least its cheaper than staying at the same hotel at USD239 per night or USD180 per night at Courtyard Jersey City if I had not won this bid. Thanks to priceline and savingsbarn / betterbidding. Learned a lot and will continue to use these websites when I travel again.
  21. got it the first bid. fairly good deal considering that published internet rate for that night is usd199. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $55.00 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.09 Total Charges*: $71.09 however, no luck on my may 19-21 stay. been looking at jersey city 3* / 2.5*. had bid variously up to usd150 with no luck. back up plan is courtyard jersey city at usd180 per night. it seems all hotels in jersey city are fully booked the night of may 21 so had to move to newark.
  22. for may 19-22, got rejected at 125, added free bid and still got rejected at 130. what is a realistic price for those nights? i think rooms are tight on those nights since no 2* or 2.5* available also.
