Hi thereuare,
Thanks for the advice and the code. I plan to use them on my Detroit-Chicago trip, so I really won't be back to any of the places on the same trip. I'm looking for the experiences if ID thing is common practice. I understand about protecting restaurants, as these certificates are promotion for them: rather than paying advertising fee to possibly attract more customers, they give this advertising fee to those who will come in for sure.
Just a quick question.
These certificates say 1 per month at any 1 restaraunt (e.g. can't keep going to the same place every day with Restaurant.com certificate, but can go to different restaurants). Anyway, do they enforce this by asking you for ID?
I will definitely not be going to same place on consecutive days, as we want to try as many different places as possible, but wouldn't really want them to photocopy my ID either (I've read they do that in some Chicago bars, although they do it for everyone, regardless whether they have discounts, etc.).
Can someone shed some light on this please?
First bid - $22
2nd bid - $25
Based on reviews you get what you paid for, but will see.
Again, if it's ok by the forum rules, any reasonably priced places to eat breakfast before 9am?
Started with $45, 2nd bid - $49 (you can try in between on your bids, to see if you can save a couple of dollars.
With the restaurant convention downtown at this time, this is not a bad option if you are looking for a place.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but anyone knows of reasonably priced places that serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday before 9am?
Thanks for all the replies.
My travel plans changed a bit, I'll spend less time hence eat less meals in Chicago than I originally thought, so I'll go with Restaurant.com.
On a side note, I emailed all restaurants in Chicago (10+) that are mentioned on these certificates and only one replied saying that yes, I can use it.
Hello,
I have seen that people have used Restaurant.com sucessfully. In my case, skyauction.com may work better (group of 4 people). Is there any conditions on their certificates? Because Restaurant.com $50 certificates are very limited and have too many restrictions (e.g. to redeem $50 certificate need to spend $100). Of course we can get $25 certificates and sit at the different tables pretending we don't know each other, but we don't want to go that route :) Looking to redeem these certificates in Chicago (for now) and NYC (later).
Please share your experiences.
PS. I've emailed their support, but it normally takes a while for them to respond and and I want to see if people actually use it and have any problems.
Thanks,
Vit

You are correct!
BUT, they only accept 2 adults in a room, so I got a refund from HOTWIRE (>3 hours on the phone). Good thing I contacted the hotel prior to the stay!
