  1. Decided to drive! Wish us luck on our 16-18hr journey.
  2. Thanks - I've not done cars before, only hotels. So I can re-bid every 24 hours?
  3. An update: I just booked a Standard SUV through Hertz (via USAA) for $957.82 USD all-in as a backup.
  4. No, I honestly didn't expect prices to shoot up. I also didn't think about the fact that I probably could've cancelled that (I'm so used to buying things that are "pre-pay no refund"). Minivan is fine, we own an Odyssey. I've found a minivan on hotwire for right around $1k. I'm hoping to get as far under $1k as I can for ANY size SUV, or mini-van. 2 adults 2 children + luggage for four people
  5. I'm totally bummed, we just ironed out dates for our trip and rental prices seem to have skyrocketed. I looked on May 22nd, and through costco was able to find an intermediate SUV for around $300 (total). Looking now, they are around $2k. SUCKS! Any advice on where to shoot for priceline?
  6. Tried several bids going to $36, which I didn't expect to get accepted, and it was not. There are some conferences so the hotels may be full. Ended up booking a cheapo place via their site (wasn't listed on any aggregators). Thanks anyway!
  7. I have a hotel booked for the weekend, but looking for a one night stay in the Airport area (or nearby). $50 max, but $40 or lower would be better. Would rather not stay in a dump, I'd guess a 3* (or higher) would be fine. Let me know if you need any more info. TIA!
  8. Could use some help finding something for 5/7-5/9. Area is not SUPER important, but would like to be in manhattan. Nice an area as possible. Problem is when I do 3 people on other sites - half the hotels drop off. Can I even specify 3 people on priceline...?
  9. I almost think it might be the Hyatt Place - because we stayed there previously and it did not have a complimentary breakfast even though it was indicated.
  10. Fri, Jan 22 to Sat, Jan 23 Hoffman Estates, IL - 2 rooms, 1 night, 4 adults 3* $42/night Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby
  11. Ended up booking 3* Hoffman Estates w/ the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby It was the Hyatt Place Chicago/Hoffman Estates as indicated by the HOTWIRE links. $42/ night for 7/27-7/29
  12. Yes, for $42 there is a 3* with the following: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access I don't see anything that matches up exactly to this hotel in the list - but it looks close to the holiday inn...? Tripadvisor rating of 4/5 w/ last rating of June 2009.
  13. Finally - as of about an hour ago. Looking for 3 rooms, July 27th, 28th (2 nights) in the schaumburg area. Maximum bid - probably 60's or so? Like to get it as cheap as possible, probalby start around 30 or so. I see several wins around $30 in that area. Also to follow up - PREFER not to get the sheraton - if that is a possibility perhaps hotwire is the better way to go...?
  14. Done - didn't realize I hadn't followed up :) I always follow up when I win.
  15. Parents ended up using points to stay someplace closer to our house.
  16. Ended up staying at Affinia via the quikbook link provied. Very nice hotel!!! Nicest I've stayed in.
  17. We live in Indy and have some relatives coming up from AZ and MO and will be taking a trip to chicago. I've used hotwire and/or priceline via this site a few times on past trips to chi-town so here I am again :) Obviously this is a tourist type stay, so probably NMA/Mag Mile if we do downtown. We are unsure of whether we will do the downtown stay vs suburbs, but starting w/ downtown. Looking for suggestions on a bidding strategy. Still waiting on budget but I'd imagine $100 + parking - but the lower the better obviously.
  18. Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Used your HOTWIRE links of course
  19. Help w/ ID please - sounds like the new Hyatt Place: Complimentary Breakfast Pool(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Fitness Center Golf Nearby Help is much appreciated and of course I am using the BB links!
  20. Not showing up for me! When I checked Affinia's site it has none available so i'd be surprised if they had a surplus... But you never know. Nevertheless it's not currently showing up for me.
  21. Thanks for your help. Found out there is a Nurse's convention in town (wasn't listed anywhere I saw) which could be the reason for lack of rooms and high prices (everything seems to be booked at this point). One question - on Quikbook, can I typically have the room charged to the card it was reserved w/? It is a company card and I won't have it on me. I can use my own - but our expense reimbursement process is not the quickest.
  22. Select 4* Loop... Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE Select 4* NMA... Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE Select 4* Loop and NMA... Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $235. I did the above and it was a no go. Affina at $24 more per night - I am thinking it is worth it to stick with it (the affina that is)? Since I did my reservation on Quikbook - will Affina have it in their system? I like to call and confirm before I leave.
  23. I ended at $200 last time - should I start there again?
  24. Denied. Reservation is at Affina for $259 - so I'd say I don't want to go all the way up to $250 since the Affina looks very nice. Maybe $230 max?
  25. Thanks for the tips. I hope you make good money on this site cause you definitely help a lot of us save a lot of money. I booked Affina as a backup using your link. Cancellation policy: I'd say I'll stick w/ 4* I guess - see if we can beat it. I've already gotten approval for $250/night for two nights if necessary, so I'll use the Affina rather than HOTWIRE if I don't get a good deal on PRICELINE. Let me know what you think for the next several days to try.
