  1. You know, that's how I started this whole thing: With bidding on Priceline. My bids were always rejected, so then I got on EasyClickTravel and hotwire, and now I like having an idea of where I'll be staying- but I'd totally be up for bidding again. I'm pleased with Whitehall, just investigating other options. If it comes down to us staying at Whitehall, I'll be totally content. :)
  2. Ok, I'll stick with my other option. Thanks. I've watched that one (4* HOTWIRE, NMA) go up and down since you suggested it. It was as high as $153 on Friday, now it's on it's way back down- hopefully! :) How's the Soldier's Field area?
  3. Hello. Just playing with the idea of splitting up our 6/16-6/21 visit in Chicago to two hotels, as suggested by Aaron and Thereuare. Wondering what this hotel may be... used the Pinned list and didn't find an exact match with the "Tennis Nearby" throwing me off. 3.5* in UIC-Medical District, $123, 6/16-6/18 Listed Amenities: Fitness, Restaurant(s), Tennis Nearby Not even sure if this is a fun area that we'd want to stay in... just tossing out ideas. I wanted to book the $129 HOTWIRE 4* NMA suggested a couple days ago by Aaron, but the price went up (same day it was suggested to me). I have the Whitehall through EasyClickTravel (which I booked through this site's link) for $129 reserved as a backup. Thanks.
  4. Ok, I absolutely love the combo of the 4* (potentially Westin) and Whitehall... I'm going to go for that. I suppose I should post the outcome under another thread over in the Hotwire forum. Great, thanks you two.
  5. hmm. That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that, and I'd be open to it- just wondering how inconvenient it will be to move since we will not have a car... Otherwise, we wouldn't mind moving... it might be nice to be in two places since neither of us have really been to Chicago.
  6. Hello. Just wanted to update (since the my dates are nearing and I'm going to start bidding again soon). I did book the EasyClickTravel as suggested by Aaron and then found it just a week ago even cheaper (Whitehall, $128, 6/16-6/21) on EasyClickTravel, which I accessed through this site's link. It seems like prices have gone down slightly since I last bid, so I'll keep everyone updated on my bidding on PL. Our max price is $128 (since that's what we have the Whitehall for) and we'd like either the Loop or River North.
  7. OK, I booked the Whitehall on EasyClickTravel through the link on this site. At least I have a back up plan. I did try bidding again today ($98-$125, NMA&Loop, 4*&Boutique) all rejections.
  8. So sorry- I hadn't discovered that resource. Thanks
  9. ARG! I can't seem to get away from that one! Ok, any idea what the $146 EasyClickTravel hotel is? <details removed>
  10. Yes, the wedding booked the group rate at the Country Inn Suites for $99 in East Madison. We're trying to beat that price because we're attending two weddings (8 days apart), both in WI, and spending the days between in Chicago. We're ok with spending $$ in Chicago, but would like to hit a 2* + for about $50 in Madison so that we have more to spend in Chicago. I think I'm doing the rebids correctly. I'll write out exactly what steps I take next time, so hopefully you can help me improve upon them! :) Thanks!

  12. Hello! My recent posts of $45-$56 have been rejected for these June dates. Not quite sure why since my star requirement went pretty low (2*). This is the part of the "vacation" where we're attending a wedding and just need a clean, safe place to sleep as we'll be super busy helping the Br&Gr with everything. Been bidding for a little less than a week with this as my general plan: Downtown, 3*, $45 Dwtn+East, 3*, $50 Dwtn+East, 3*+2.5*, $56 Dwtn+East,3*+2.5*+2*, $45 All rejected. Again (like my Chicago posts) this is abridged- I closed browsers and changed combos for maximum bidding opportunities. But the outcome is the same. Should I start bidding higher? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks
  13. Oh, ok- we won't book that Tremont. We're not flying in, just overlapping our vacations to be in Chicago during the same dates. I've read all the tips about waiting longer vs. bidding early for hotels, so if I hold out and wait for PL to (hopefully) take my bid, what fully refundable hotel website offers the best prices, in case my bid is never picked up by PL? Madison seems (from other PL posts on this site) that it should be considerably less expensive; especially considering the highest * level they go (in the areas I'm looking) is 3*. Yet my bids are still rejected- I'll go post in the Wisconsin forum right now so I don't confuse other bidders.
  14. Thanks for all your advice. I've checked out that Hotwire offer and will probably purchase it (through Betterbidding link, of course!). We are traveling with friends. If we purchase the tickets together, will that increase the chances of our bid getting picked up by Priceline? We have been entering separate bids thus far, but one of us bidding for 2 rooms, and then the other reimbursing them seems like it may help us??! Thanks again! I've been having similar troubles (as in my original post) with a hotel in Madison, but I'll go post that under the W states. PS any idea what the 3* Boutique Hotel in NMA going for $169 is? (Amenities: Boutique, Rest., Fitness)
  15. Aaron, Thanks so much for researching. We cannot extend our stay, but the other option would work out quite well. Where did you locate that? Any suggestions for a 3* bid for on Priceline? We'll be car-less and taking some form of public transport (Amtrak?) from Milwaukee to Chicago- so location is the most important thing for this trip; ultimately a 3* for the right price would be great. Thanks again.
  16. Hello! (First time Priceliner, bidder, poster, etc) Ok, I've read everything on this site (I think) and have had absolutely no success on priceline. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong or simply not bidding enough $$ Followed rebid strategies verbatim, starting a little less than a week ago and always accessing through Savingsbarn.com link from this website. I'm trying to stay under $125 for a 4* Most recent bids (today): Loop, 4*, $86 Loop, 4* + Boutique, $90 (close browser) NMA, 4*, $86 NMA, 4* + Boutique, $96 (Close browser) NMA + Loop, 4*, $100 NMA + Loop, 4* + Boutique, $106 NMA + Loop + Midway, 4* + Boutique, $118 This is slightly abridged, I may have done other combos to allow more increments of $ Any advice is greatly appreciated- I'm ready to try again tomorrow. :) Thanks!
