Thanks Henrik -- Based on that info - would you suggest $100 bid then? And then try to move up from there by clicking on the different areas? It doesn't matter too much where the 4* hotel is. All those areas are pretty close by.

Thanks. I think I understand rebidding - and I don't think I am too worried about any 4* hotel. However, I am not sure where to begin - should I start with a $110 bid for the Naples area 4* (approximately 50% of the $219) and then move up from there? I will be using SavingsBarn to do my bidding.

Hello All: I am looking to use PL for a 4* Hotel in Naples area for 1 night only - this Friday to Saturday. This is what came up: $219 Hilton and $539 for the Laplaya Beach and Golf Resort. What do you think my opening bid should be? The good part is this is the only 4* hotel in any of the surrounding areas, so I should be able to do the rebidding tip (by adding in the three separate areas one by one -- if it works). Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Hi - wanted to respond to this -- my stay is from 6/17 through 6/29. And I know I sort of addressed this issue before - but I was told to put it into the Hawaii thread. And as stated in my prior post - I didn't know about this site until after I bid. I don't understand the hostility - just wanted to share my experience.

Hello All: I was planning on using Maui as my base for 9 days while in Hawaii in mid-June. I went to PL to find the best bet. I onlyl wish that I had found this site first - but Live and Learn. We were looking for a resort in Maui and didn't care where it was -- Wailea or the area north of Lahaina were the only areas with resorts. The area north of Lahaina offered three different resorts -- with actual prices as follows: The Whaler was offered at $269, the Sheraton and the Hyatt were both just under $500 (a few dollars separted them). I was worried about putting in a bid to try to get the Sheraton and/or the Hyatt and getting stuck with the Whaler (which I was told was not nearly as nice as the others) so I decided to try the Wailea area. The Wailea area also offered three different resorts. The Renaissance at $329, the Marriott at $499 and another at $620 (don't remember the name -- something Grand Resort). Here, I was hoping to put in a bid that would put me in the running for the Marriott although I knew I might be pushing my luck. I put in a bid for $300 and was accepted at the Renaissance. I guess, I should be happy that I am saving 10% off the room price -- although b/c I was trying to get the mid-level hotel - I bid high. If I had been trying to get the Renaissance, I would have bid lower - so (to myself), I think that I did not do as well as I could have. After reading some very recent reviews of the Renaissance, our opinions have changed for the better -- recent reviews have been superlative -- even though they are tearing the hotel down sometime later this summer (to make time-shares?). Hello All: I know this topic has ended a while ago - but I had a question sort-of on the same point. I am going to Hawaii in a few months and wanted to book a resort on Maui. The problem that I faced when looking at the resorts was the differentiation on the actual prices on said resorts. In one area, Wailea, there were three resorts offered -- one at $329 and the other 2 at approximately $500. In the other area, there was an even bigger discrepancy with one at $269, one at $500 and one at $620 a night. Those were the only "resorts" listed. I wrote to PL and asked them what would prevent the lower priced resort from accepting a higher bid - and they basically told me that there is nothing that would prevent them from doing that - although they did not actually "respond" directly to the question. So, if I wanted to get one of the more moderate resorts, am I sort of stuck by paying their actual price, rather than submitting a bid? In some of the other messages, the prices weren't that signficiant of a difference, but in this case, the difference can be $350/night. Any suggestions? Thanks.
