  1. heading says $160 and needs to be updated to $215 215 USD #2, #12, #16, #6, #11, #10, #17, #18 and #3 Chelsea, 3 stars, got the Best Western Plus President at Times Square! B)
  2. I think you're correct this is the Westin. I saw this and bidded on PRICELINE. got hotel at $200. I have posted this on the PRICELINE site but just wanted to confirm correct.
  3. The Westin New York Grand Central Midtown East 212 East 42Nd Street, New York, NY 10017 212-490-8900 hotel details | more photos | amenities Check-In: Thu, Dec 13, 2012 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out: Sun, Dec 16, 2012 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room / 3 nights Patience finally paid off. Had TS, MTW, MTE, CPW when bid accepted. I started with TS and went from $170 to $185 to $200. Added MTW and went from $170 to $185 to $200. Added others and went from $170 to $185 to $200. Won on last bid. I think that's how it went. Either way i'll crash nightly in the heavenly bed..... As is always the case i feel i might have saved a few more $$ if i had waited another day.... :D Also, this hotel isn't listed as a 4* hotel for MTE. Only 21 days until South Carolina (The USC) vs Michigan in Tampa!! Used PRICELINE link provided so i could bid from work!
  4. I've been bidding the last few days for 12/13 - 12/16 4* in TS, MTW, CPS, ESB and UWS from $160 to $200 with no luck. Bidding NYC this time of year takes patience.... Trying to remember that and not jump the gun and bid too high.
  5. Started bidding Strip North and Strip South at $90 and added $2 for each free bid. Won at $110. Was offered opportunity to add days. Used PRICELINE link. :D
  6. Had been bidding up to $200 in Time Square but saw big dip in Midtown Central on Hotwire so i added Midtown West. My best guess hotel in Midtown Central is in Midtown West on Priceline. Have always wanted to stay here. Cary Grant lived in this hotel for 12 years. I doubt i'll get the Cary Grant Suite. :) I started this bid using the PRICELINE link.
  7. Can you give some background on your bidding? Have you been bidding? Prices? Areas? Thanks Congratulations on the win!
  8. Have you been bidding these dates? Were other bids rejected on the day you won? Thanks and congratulations on the win!
  9. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. The one night was yes a lower priced night but wouldn't, in my OPINION account for the huge drop in price. This is also an example of how on discussion boards you're sometimes not entitled to ones own opinion. If you go to the W website the average rate for the 2 night stay is $589 (two singles) and the rate for the 3 night stay (which includes Sunday night) is $563. That comes to a difference of only $26 so i believe the $69 drop partly includes being patient. I also feel it will be cheaper as we get closer. Time will tell. I respect your opinion but not sure it goes both ways. Back to baking my turkey. :)
  10. I totally agree the $290 compared to regular rates is a very good win. I was just using it as an example of how you really need to be patient in bidding NYC this time of year. If you've got the nerve to wait and be patient you may be able to secure a great deal or you might be in a 2* in Hoboken! :) Go Urban Myers!! :)
  11. Well it seems someone just got these dates and the same hotel and saved $69/day. :)
  12. It will be interesting to watch amd see if rates come down once we get within 10 days or so. This hotel might not but i predict others will.... They say "Patience is a Virtue!"... Time will tell... I'm going to be bidding on December 2-5 and will bid something today since i'm getting a $5 bonus today only.
  13. Ditto!! You have to expand the area you're willing to stay or lower the level of your accommodations. You'll at least have someone to stay while you continue bidding.
  14. I would recommend you book something you like, can afford and able to cancel up to the day you wish to check-in. Then be patient!!!! Bid daily and monitor this website for others bidding for your same dates. From my experience bidding the dates you're bidding it may be just a few days before you leave that something changes. I've been bidding December weekends for several years now for my own reservations and those of my friends and patience pays!! This year I'm bidding on Dec 2-5 for myself, Dec 9-12 for my son and Dec 14-18 for a friend. Just be patient and bid up to your budget for now and in the area you're wishing to stay! Also watch your email from priceline offer where they'll add a few $$ to your bid. Good Luck!
  15. Rule #1: PATIENCE!!! Book a hotel you can cancel last minute. You'll probably be bidding up until a few days before you go if you want the best deal!! If you're not patient you'll pay more and get less!!
  16. Unless something has changed since i stayed there last year they offer plenty of free parking with a side entrance into the hotel.
  17. Thank you for the offer but i'm fine. I was just hoping for a little history of his bidding process to see if we're seeing a move towards dropping prices for next weekend.
  18. Can you give a little more detail of your bid? Was this your first bid? Had you used free bids to get to $169? Have you been bidding for the last few days/weeks? And just for the night of Dec 5th? Sorry if this is online somewhere else :) Thanks Kenny
  19. Started bidding at $45 and increased by $5 until i hit $60 then I bet $62 and won. 20. Patience does pay... I'm thrilled... Sofitel New York Midtown West 45 West 44th Street New York, New York 10036 212-354-8844 Check-In Date: Fri, Dec 5, 2008 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Dec 8, 2008 / 12:00 PM Reservation and Billing Information -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $205.00 Subtotal: $615.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $115.96 Total Charges*: $730.96 I used PRICELINE link and thanks for all the help!
  21. Just to update but as of November 29 there has been no change. I have also bidded on a 3.5 * in TS up to $190 on November 29.
  22. I noticed on HOTWIRE a 2 1/2 * in the TS district for $225 which (from your list) is probably the Milford Plaza. That would be a huge discount from the reservation i currently have with them. I'm wanting at least a 3 1/2 * but if nothing opens up for me on Priceline and that deal doesn't go away that could be an option. In addition to the Desmond Tutu... :)
  23. I've been watching the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and noticed the win mentioned in the prevoius post. I was just wondering if anyone was still bidding and what bidding strategy they were using.
  24. Is there anyone else out there bidding on these same dates?
