  1. hello, thanks for all your help. Unfortunately I didn't find anything suitable for under 220$ bidding on priceline. So I ended up with the Wyndham Long Island City for $115 a night for the rest of my stay. Worked well - nice rooms, quiet and good connection with underground to Manhattan.
  2. I guess I would like to pay max $200 a night for a 4 star. I am looking for 4 stars especially in MTE and ESB.
  3. Yes, you are right, they are both gone. I am sure I saw it but someone else seems to be the lucky winner. Well, can do nothing about it.... thank you for looking.
  4. hi, I've found a room on hotwire for 226$ a night for 5/13 to 5/17, location MTE, 4 star Amenities are: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Any idea which hotel that might be? same price, same dates for a 3 star Madison Square Garden, Amenities are Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Property Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Could anyone help me please finding out which hotel this could be? Thanks a lot!
  5. There are hotels in TS and CPS I would like to avoid. TS seems to be extremely busy and loud, I am trying to avoid that. So I prefer MTE and ESB. And yes, I have considered bidding for all 6 nights but somehow it appeals to me to be in two different places in the city (including my already won Marriott it will be three). And if one hotels turns out to be disappointing I might still be lucky and happy with the other one. Spreading the risk ;) Thank you very much for helping me, I will keep you updated as soon as I win something!
  6. Last time I was in NY I have already tried the Chicken and Rice and it was wonderful, I ate far too much!
  7. The famous Adrienne's! I have read a lot about that place already!! How do you know that I intend investing a substantial amount of my time finding wonderful food in NY? This is very important for me on my holidays, and I am always open for any recommendations (actually I am looking for a place that serves authentic peruvian food ;) - any ideas? Thanks to thereuare I have already found the perfect Italian place - mille grazie!
  8. I have tried from 150$ up to 180$ for ESB 5/13/2013 to 5/16/2013, no luck. I think I would like to avoid MTW because of the Sheraton. Many people reported rooms with thin walls so you can hear A LOT from your neighbours. I am also not sure if MTE is a safe choice because of that doubletree (appears more like a 3.5 to me). Others in MTW and MTE seem very promising, though. Alright, do you think a win within the 180$ limit is realistic in ESB? My maximum bid because of the high prices in May is 200$/night, but only after I have failed several times at $180 ;) Do you think that it would be cheaper to try a 4* in Soho or Chelsea (anytime in the period 5/13-5/19)? I am opening a third thread for the remaining three nights 5/16-5/19 once I have started bidding for them. I would like to settle the first three nights before bidding for the second three nights. Thanks for your help and for the fun I have with the bidding (and winning )
  9. I got the Marriott Downtown from 5/9/2013-5/13/2013 for 150$/night. I expected lower rates for the weekend and I am happy with the win, it is a good start. I don't mind being in downtown at the beginning of my stay, it is a good option for some sights. Then I tried from 150$ up to 180$ for ESB 5/13/2013 to 5/16/2013, no luck. I have considered my maximum bid - because of the high prices in May I think it is 200$/night, but only after I have failed several times at $180 ;) Do you think that for the third leg of my stay (5/16/2013 - 5/18/2013) it would be cheaper to try 4* in Soho or Chelsea? Thank you again for your thoughts!!
  10. Thank you for recommendations. I think I won't bid right away but wait a few weeks. I am going to let you know how it works out.
  11. Thank you! I guess I didn't fully understand the purpose of your links, I thought they only worked when I was booking. Now I understand that every click counts. Right, my budget: it would be wonderful to get a 4 star around 120$, I guess I am willing to pay up to 150$ max. The problem is that taxes have to be added as well, they amount to a quarter of the net price, don't they? I might switch to a 3.5 star if things don't work out with the 4 star. In your opinion, which area offers the most solid 3.5 stars? Where is it least likely to get an unpopular 3.5 star? I am looking forward to the challenge, unfortunately I can't switch to the summer, it has to be in May and it seems that I can't change the dates anymore so I have to make the best of it! Thank you again!
  12. Hi there, I love to book hotel rooms on hotwire or priceline (using your PRICELINE link) I have just browsed through hotwire and I have noticed that prices around the 9th of May till the 18th are quite high. Does anyone have an idea why that may be the case? Any special events in town? Or just coincidence? Thanks a lot for any suggestions! Of course I know that I will have to split my bid etc...but I was just wondering if I should change the dates altogther? Have a nice evening!
  13. I've just had a look on their websites...I can't wait. :) Thanks a million.
  14. After trying everything I assume that I will have to cut down on food when I am back from my holidays. THANK YOU for your advice!! I will definitely let you know how I enjoyed it. One further question: I love pancakes and french toast. Is there any place around midtown East and ESB you can think of?
  15. Thank you for your advice (bagels!!). Do you have any other recommendation regarding food (local diners, inexpensive,..)? I would also like to say thank you for providing this forum. I've enjoyed great deals and great hotels up to now.
  16. Yes, they offered me additional nights (159$) at Morgans, but I declined. Too expensive. I guess I will try MTE up to 120$ the next days to see how it goes. The Hyatt usually comes up with fairly low prices rather close to the dates. Maybe I am lucky.
  17. Hi everybody was successful at bidding for a 4* in ESB for 7/24 - 7/28 (120$, Morgans). Now looking for 4* in MTE for the remaining 3 nights. I would love to get the Hyatt or Barclay at around 120$ or the Parker Meridien in CPS. I tried yesterday up to 120$ and failed. Do you think it is likely that I am more successful with bidding later on? Or is it unlikely that prices go down? What are the reasons that prices increase in the middle of the week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)? At what price would I succeed now- around 140$ or even higher?? Would love some help and ideas. Thanks.
  18. Used PRICELINE link. Started bidding Midtown east for 7/24-7/31. Rejected up to 120$. Added CPS and ESB, rejected up to 120$. Changed time frame to 7/24-7/29. Rejected up to 120$. Changed time frame to 7/24-7/28. Accepted at 120$. Was offered additional nights at 157$, declined. I would need some advice how to bid for the remaining three nights. Tried ME and CPS up to 120$, rejected. I would be happy with ME, CPS or ESB around 120$. Do you think that I might be successfull later in June or will prices remain high for 7/28-7/31? What do you think? Thanks a lot from Vienna, Europe.
  19. Hi Colfax, you are right, I bid in the middle of June, sorry I didn't find the time to post earlier.

  23. Started bidding at 60$ and worked up my way till 94$. I am wondering why it doesn't work as I have seen a 75$ win on similar dates on the board. Plus, all 4*hotels, that were previously won, are available. Any ideas?
  24. Congratulations. You are really lucky. I would like to see a similar result for myself soon. Have a nice trip!!
  25. My current dates are 7/14 to 7/19. I*ve been trying USE up to 105$ today. No luck. I am thinking of splitting the bid. Any recommendations how to split (equal parts like 2 days and 3 days or 1 day and 4 days?. How can I figure out what is the best choice? I would consider USE and Wharf up to 105$. Thank you.
