  1. Up to $44/day ($192 total) too low. I think we may drop down to a Mid-size SUV as this is a bit ridiculous.
  2. Day 5: $39/$40 ($179 total) - Too Low
  3. Day 4: $37 and $38 ($171 Total) - Too low Thanks. Yeah, I use the link.
  4. Hi, I'm currently bidding on a Standard SUV for MIA and I thought I'd share the progress. 3 days (2 days 3 hours) 04/10/11 (11:00am) to 04/12/11 (2:00pm) I have 4 bidders (myself, my wife, and two friends who we're traveling with), so we're getting 4 bids per 24 hours: Day 1: $25 - $28 - Too Low Day 2: $29 - $32 - Too Low Day 3: $33 - $36 - Too Low I'll update as I go. Andy
  5. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort (1915 South Manchester Avenue) and did not have a resort fee. The hotel on 1240 South Walnut Street is the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Anaheim. It is much closer to Disneyland which is why they likely charge the resort fee. Confirm which hotel you won your bid for as the names are very similar. Andy
  6. Hi Guys, After such a long thread, I thought I'd post a follow up. Our first concern was parking. As we were fairly sick of being in the car from the drive (from Thousand Oaks), we did a few circles around the Grand Hyatt and settled on a garage 1.5 blocks from the Grand Hyatt on Sutter between Grant and Kearney. There is also a side entrance on Grant just south of Sutter. It was $30/night which is $19 less than the Hyatt. The hotel was great. The lobby is really nice, friendly staff, and an amazing restaurant/bar on the top floor (36th). We went to the bar both nights and the drinks were great. We ordered the Mango Mojito and my wife loved it as she could not taste the mango rum. The view is overlooking the city towards Fisherman's Wharf with a great shot of Coit Tower. The night view is spectacular. The room was nice. What I would expect for a Hyatt. We had no view, but that is expected by booking via Priceline. I've read threads where people ask for an upgrade, or tip the person at check in hoping for an upgrade, but we were happy with whatever they wanted to give us as we were not going to be in the room too much. The location was perfect. You are 1-3 blocks north of all the shopping (Macy's, Nike, Williams Sonoma, Gap, and a ton more including the high ends) and restaurants (we noticed Cheesecake and a Burger Place at Macy's, along with a ton of small places on the side streets). I was a little surprised that all the shops closed at 8 on a Friday night. We ate the first night at a Chipotle on O'Farrell for a quick dinner since we were starving, followed by drinks at the hotel bar. You are also 4 blocks from the Powell Cable Car turn around and a couple blocks south of Chinatown. We walked to Chinatown on Saturday and ate lunch there, then continued the walk to Fisherman's Wharf. It's a long walk, but definitely worth it for the views along the way (TransAmerica Bldg, Coit Tower, Lombard St., Alcatraz, etc.). We hit up Ghiradelli Sq, Pier 39, and a prebooked Alcatraz tour. Afterwards, we caught the Cable Car (Mason/Powell Line) at the Taylor/Bay turnaround and rode that back to the hotel, jumping off at Sutter. Thanks again for everyone's help! Andy
  7. Glad to hear the post helped someone! Enjoy the stay!
  8. Agreed. I really appreciate all the different opinions, and I'm sure all 2000+ views of this thread appreciate it as well. More info = Better Decisions. My honest opinion is USW/USE/Financial...it doesn't matter. Good news on the bidding front... Started at $79... At $81, bid accepted! Grand Hyatt San Francisco Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $81.00 Subtotal: $162.00 Taxes & Fees: $33.76 Total Charges*: $195.76 Of note: Hyatt.com is currently $179/night, yielding me a 55% discount. Parking will be $49/night at the hotel, but I'll look for lots nearby based on everyones help. Can an admin please change the title and subtitle of this thread? Hopefully this insanely long post has helped others. It shows that using this site and all its great members along with patience will pay off. Thanks to Colfax, slruud, thereuare, valencia (rebid strategy I didn't know would work), and all the others who commented. I'm going to review the posts for restaurant suggestions as I remember a few being posted (We'll have to try the Tadich Grill). Now, let's hope I see Mickelson hoist the trophy on Sunday at Pebble! Thanks everyone! Andy
  9. Rebid up to $85 ... not accepted. Same offer at $79: Add $15 and rebid immediately. Andy
  10. Stuck to our guns for now w/ USW/USE. Rebid up to $85 ... not accepted. Same offer at $79: Add $15 and rebid immediately. I'll keep Embarcadero-FD in the back of my mind as it gets closer and make the decision between that and the Harbor Court when the time comes. Thanks! Andy
  11. Thanks for the info, slruud. I didn't bid on the Financial District based on the "it's dead on the weekends" comment. However, I understand that it's probably splitting hairs as Financial and Union Square are so close to each other. Plus, like you said, with the Harbor Court, I've already decided I'd be Ok with this area. I saw someone just got the Hyatt for $81 on what seemed to be a popular weekend based on the posting. I'll ask the wife before bidding today. I'll have to rethink what I should start my bidding at. I'll probably go down to around $70 to start and also have my wife bid to get 16 total bids today (without having to close the browser everytime which was suggested by someone early in this thread). I'll post after I bid. Andy
  12. Thanks, lookup. Yeah, I agree. I normally don't have any problem paying $100 or so for a nice 4* on PRICELINE. I'm being a little cheap on this one for two reasons: 1. I have a good hotel currently booked for $89 which Colfax likes. 2. Parking is going to be $20 - $50 depending on if I go with a local lot or the hotel. The night after the golf tournament, we're staying at the Hyatt in Monterey for $149 (separate note on Hyatt: Use gift certificates for prime dates! You can buy a gift certificate for one night for a certain category, which is way less than the hotel fee. For that night that we're staying (Sunday, 06/20), the rooms are going for $500+. The catch is they only have so many rooms open for gift certificates). Part of me feels dumb for nickel and dimeing the hotel for Fri/Sat, but the other part of me likes playing the game of bidding and trying to get the best rate possible. Andy
  13. Hi Everyone, Sorry, went out of town for the holiday weekend and didn't have internet, so I didn't bid. I can't let everyone down who's following this thread, so I've decided to stick with bidding up to $85 until the end. Hopefully, the hotels give in before I do. If I get something, great. If I don't, I'm happy with my backup. I bid again up to $85 today. I've shortened by bidding to just $79-$85 since I don't think <$79 is going to be accepted. At $79, they offered be to immediately rebid $15 more. Of note, this is $3 less than previous rebid offers, so I think they're coming down. Bid up to $85 ... not accepted. I'll keep an eye on lastminutetravel as well. Thanks, Andy
  14. Thanks, slruud. Yeah, I'm aware that I may get one of those others (or even one that this site isn't aware of). I just make those comments/assumptions based on what others are getting. Thanks for the info on the Embarcadero/Financial District. I'll double check those 4* and their reviews on TripAdvisor, and balance that with the "area is dead on the weekends" comment from others. Andy
  15. I bid again up to $85 ... not accepted. At $79, they offered me to bid $18 more again.
  16. Well, tough call. You were so high on our backup hotel (Harbor Court Hotel for $89), that we're trying to decide what the Parc 55 and Grand Hyatt are worth to us. You also made a good point about Priceline fees. I wouldn't mind going up to $90 for the Parc/Hyatt if I thought is was going to be better than the Court. What would you do? I'll bid up to $85 again today and then look for a reply from you for tomorrow's strategy. Thanks, Andy
  17. Thanks for the info, Bonwah. USW and USE are both in my search, so I'll take which ever one they want to give me. I bid again up to $85 ... not accepted. At $79, they offered me to bid $18 more. So, if you want USW for $97, you could get it for those dates.
  18. The issue at $74 was indeed a delayed "not accepted." Bid up to $85 ... not accepted. Andy
  19. Thanks for the comparison, Wellie! Great info. We started bidding again today: $72 - $85. Currently, at $74 (USW, USE, Civic Center ... 4*), my wife got this from Priceline... "In most cases, we'll be able to tell you whether or not you got your hotel room within 15 minutes. We're still working on your hotel room request, and should have an answer for you soon. You can also get your answer at any time by clicking on the "Check Your Requests" button at the top of the priceline.com home page. Please wait several minutes and click the "Check My Offer Status" button to see if we have an answer for you. While you are waiting you can also claim your Special Offer for your request today!" I'm assuming at $74 it's just a delayed "not accepted," but we'll wait and see, then continue bidding. Odd as I've never seen that before. Andy
  20. Hi Everyone, After looking at hotel photos on TripAdvisor, I'd like to still try and get the Parc 55. I know I could get stuck with something else, but I think the odds are that I'll get the Parc. I'm going to stick to the plan of bidding up to $85 each day and see what happens. Bid again today to $85 ... not accepted. Thanks, Andy
  21. That is brilliant, Valencia! I did not know that would work. Thanks for sharing the information! Andy
  22. Great, that's good to know. Thanks Colfax. She told me she also has Hotel Rex, a Joie de Vivre hotel for $89/night as well. That one is #12 on TripAdvisor. Are you familiar with that hotel as well? Thanks for the input! Andy
  23. My wife picked the Harbor Court Hotel - a Kimpton Hotel for $89/night. She's a big TripAdvisor fan and this is #23 of 240 in SF.
