  1. Started bidding using PRICELINE link First bid of $70 accepted - should have started lower! Oh well. Good rate for a great hotel.
  2. Booked 2 rooms. Was surprised to have price accepted on first bid, probably should have started lower. Started using PRICELINE links on Betterbidding.
  3. Started at $50 at 3.5* for Midtown zone, then added 3* & went up to $52 and was accepted. I wonder if I could have gotten a better deal if I had bid earlier or later...oh well. I've stayed in this hotel several times & for the price its a good hotel with a very good location. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $52.00 Subtotal: $104.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.22 Total Charges*: $127.22
  4. I originally was going to stay with a friend, then decided to Priceline a room on a whim. Accepted on the first bid. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $100.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.78 Total Charges*: $123.78 Booked using the PRICELINE link in the "Support/Travel Links" section.
  5. Did some checking pre-bidding & found rate of $120.10 total using my corp discount with Avis. I started at $10/day and a Midsize, kept rebidding by changing size and upping big by about $3. Final bid of $18/day for a Standard size was accepted. Total: $86.82, so a good savings over the lowest price I could find previously. Booked using the PRICELINE link in the "Support/Travel Links" section.
  6. It took several tries for me to get this booking, as I only wanted to stay in the downtown zone, and I had a personal limit of $75/night. I tried bidding almost everyday this week, and was reaching my limit with no offers. Today I used the following strategy: originally bid for 2 nights (10/9-10/11) starting w/4* level @ $55; then added 3.5* in same zone & increased to $60; then began rebidding up to $70. Once bid was accepted, used the "Add A Night" feature to add 1 night for 10/8. Total for all 3 nights: $253.97 including taxes & fees. Best rate on the Radisson website was $396.11 so I got a great deal. Booked using the PRICELINE link in the Support/Travel Links section.
  7. Usually I'm very successful bidding on PRICELINE, but over the past few days I've had a lot a trouble. I'm only interested in 2 zones: Buckhead and Midtown. My max bid for any star level is $100. For Buckhead, I'm only willing to do 4*, but for Midtown I'm willing to do 3*, 3.5* or 4* (this is due to the hotels and locations available in each zone). I originally started out with a 4* bid for Midtown, then added Buckhead, then added 3.5*. I maximized my number of re-bids and reached $70 with no success. On my next attempt I started with 3.5* in Midtown and then added 3*, and went up to $85 with no success. Does anyone have any other strategies I should try? Maybe change to a 2 day booking and use the "Add a Night" option? Also, does anyone know if anything big is happening in Atlanta that weekend? I tried Googling but I didn't see anything that would cause the hotels to fill up. TIA
  8. Initial bid of $15 a day was not accepted. Went up to $20 and was accepted. Booked using the PRICELINE link found in the Support/Travel Links section. Total cost w/taxes & fees: $135.90 Rate w/my corp. discount: $191.99 - I'm happy that PRICELINE was able to beat my corp. discount by almost $60.
  9. Started at $50 and Priceline came back with "if you increase your bid by $14 you can submit your bid again with no changes" Just went with that, so went up to $65 and it was accepted. 11. Started with $40 and 3.5* rating. Then added 3* in same zone and increased bids by $5 until accepted at $55. It appears that this hotel is not listed in the Priceline Hotel Lists in the forum, so I Googled the Tripadvisor reviews, which can be found HERE. Tripadvisor reviews average a 3.5/5.0, so I'm thinking this will end up being a good stay. Total including taxes & fees: $134.20
  12. I spent a week bidding for 4* downtown up to $100 with no sucess before switching to 3*. First bid of $60 was accepted. Booked using PRICELINE link via the "Support/Travel Links" area. 13. Started at $7 for lower class and was rejected. $12 @ Standard class was accepted. Total price: $69.49 Lowest price w/ same class with Avis using my corp discount: $113.16 Booked using PRICELINE link in "Support/Travel links" section.
  14. Got the JW Marriott for $65 a night for 6/22-6/24. That is a big weekend because there are several conventions as well as Atlanta Greek Picnic in town. Was hoping for Intercontinental, but am happy with the JW Marriott.
  15. Update: I used the strategy above and bid up to $100 using my re-bids with no success. I then added Perimeter (another 4* star that was acceptable for me) and went back down to $60 and worked my way up. Bid was accepted at $90, and I got Westin Perimeter. Thanks for all the help.
  16. My max bid is $100. Other zones that I'm willing to stay in are: Downtown, Midtown, Airport, and Perimeter.
  17. Hi everyone, This is my first post, but I've found this board to be extremely helpful. I'm planning to travel to Atlanta the weekend of 3/30 to 4/1. I've recently learned that this is the same weekend as the Final 4, which is 3/31 and 4/2. My goal was to get a 4* hotel, preferably in Buckhead for that weekend. Do you think its possible, given that there will be so many folks coming in for Final 4? Do you think most rooms, especially in Buckhead are full? Should I bid higher for that particular weekend? I'm willing to do 4* in another area, but I really don't want to go below that (ie 3* or 2.5*). Thanks everyone for your ideas and suggestions.
