  1. I've been trying for that weekend too, but I think it's a bit early. There doesn't seem to be any huge conventions that would affect availability. I have the Westin River North using starpoints (loyalty program) on backup in case I don't get a bid by then. Post if you get an accepted bid. Thanks.
  2. The week before my trip, PL emailed me about amenities at the hotel not being available. They were still renovating. The rooftop pool/lounge was still under construction and the restaurant was only open during breakfast. I was given the option to cancel my reservation without penalty and get the bonus cash of $10/night. I canceled and promptly received a refund. I decided to couchsurf instead and don't regret having done that. I did walk by the hotel while at the beach and it seemed to be nice and guests were out on the beachfront under their yellow umbrellas and chairs. Parking was very hard to find, but if you're diligent, you can find a spot. There is a car rental, Charlie's, one block behind the hotel and a Walgreens close by. Great location in Isla Verde for food and beaches.
  3. BigCheese, U should rent a car if you want to explore the area. Then take into account that you will have to pay $16/day for parking fees (unless you rent with Avis onsite, then you can park for free-if there is an available spot). A cab back to the city is probably going to cost you $40 (estimate) one way. Weekly rentals aren't too pricey. I was able to get one for $120 for five days. Driving isn't too bad, just be aware and know where you're going. A GPS is essential--although I do remember traveling out of the San Juan area and it came up as a blank screen on Rte 187 (heading out of Isla Verde). Pick up a map at a Walgreens and you'll be ok. I too have a room there for a night in March and have done some research on the area. Food is expensive and near ridiculous onsite. The beachfront isn't very swimmable and there isn't any kind of nightly entertainment. The only tour company that travels from Rio Grande is called Dragonfly...from what I've read, there needs to be a minimum of 4 ppl for a tour to occur. Check out the reviews on tripadvisor.com.
  4. Don't email PL, call and speak to customer service. Insist that you need it changed because you cannot use it. In the past, I've been able to get my bids reneged, but with a $25 change fee (not sure if they also charge one night's stay too, the rules have changed in the past years). If you book within 7 days via PL and call them, they will refund you that $25 change fee. It can be done.
  5. Used $10 bonus cash reward, total bid =$70 Bid for 3* hotel after numerous rejections from Resort to 3.5* bids (always keeping it below $60 + bonus cash) Upgraded to 3.5* when accepted From reviews, it looks like there is a resort charge of of $10-11/day, but the service and location are said to be very good.

  7. Too many rebids to recall pricing steps. Looking forward to trying out the place.
  8. It was a tough weekend to bid since there was a big event in town. It took me about 20+ bids to get this one. Hotel was worth the price, very nice-good free continental breakfast. Friends ended up booking another room here at the last minute, rate of $109.

  10. Made the bid a while ago and I don't remember the process of bids.
  11. I wasn't expecting this bid to take, but obviously there's 2* properties as well. Just flying into LAS and heading out of town. Good price for an off-strip location on a Saturday night. 3/20/10 Planning on staying on The Strip on the last few days of my trip. I found hotel rates on websites a bit cheaper (and more location specific) than going through Priceline. Booked at Bally's for $58.99/nite through i4vegas.com
