  1. We decided to change our weekend from Nov 28th-30th and booked the Marriott Residence Inn in Mid Town East directly for Nov 22-24th. We got a rate of $149/night + tax. Using your BiddingHelper link it looked like the Residence Inn was one of the options for $124/night but with Hotwire fees we decided to book direct and have the option to cancel if something better came along.
  2. I am treating my wife for her Birthday with a trip to NYC. Prices seem favorable for a trip to NYC on Thanksgiving weekend. Could you help identify these properties listed on Hotwire? Thanks for maintaining a great site.
  6. Booked a 1 night stay on Sunday Night 11/16 for the Doubletree Hotel Located at 8 Strong Street in the Financial District of NYC. $95 + $32.57 in taxes in Fees for a total of $127.57. My wife and I plan on visiting the newly opened 9/11 memorial on either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access
  7. This hotel ended up being just fine for a one night stay. Upon check-in I was initially assigned a smoking room but prior to being handed the room key the front desk clerk asked me if I really wanted a smoking room and I said no. He quickly reassigned me a non smoking room. It looks like this hotel has an entire wing devoted to smoking rooms. I was very happy to be moved away from the smoking rooms. Our room was very clean and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Choices were waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, cereal and a selection of sweet breads and muffins. Coffee was very good. I was up very early in the morning and I saw that many people were catching a very early hotel shuttle bus to the airport. Breakfast was advertised to be served from 6-10 but it was ready prior to 6am for the early airport departures. The location was directly off I91 at exit 44. I was very happy with our stay.

  9. Based on a quick check I thought the amenities indicated that this was going to be the Holiday Inn Express. Hotwire Satisfaction Index was a 75% but Tripadvisor reviews seem a little better. I will report back on the hotel after my stay. I am sure this will be fine for a quick overnight stay. Amenities listed were: Airport Shuttle , Fitness Center, Business Center, Free Breakfast, Free Internet Check In Feb 1 / Check Out Feb 2 Hotwire Price: $48 + 13.19 Fees ( $61.19 Total)
  10. Very happy with this result for our trip this weekend to NYC. I originally bid $100 on PRICELINE using the Betterbidding Link. Original bid was rejected but Priceline countered for $116. I added Harlem/Morningside zone and increased my bid to $105 and it was accepted. Total price for 2 day stay including taxes and fees was $263.70. Any suggestions on where to go to watch the super bowl on Sunday? My wife and I will be meeting up with my son who lives in Brooklyn? As always this site is tremendously helpful in searching out places to stay.
  11. We got a full refund from Hotwire . We needed to be within 24 hours of checking before they would issue the refund. When we called on the day of our check-in , the Hotwire Customer Service person was very check to issue the refund since New Jersey was under a state of emergency.
  12. I called Hotwire and they said if there is an evacuation ordered for NYC or road and bridge closures in the area they said that they would "work with us.". They requested that I call back on Friday as the storm approached the NYC area. I will update this site with any new information.
  13. With the pending hurricane approaching New York City this weekend, does anyone have any experience with having Hotwire refund money or provide a credit because of the impending storm. I plan on contacting Hotwire and the Hotel to see if they can be of assistance. Just checking if anyone has experience with regards to these situations?
  14. I stayed at this hotel on Aug 17-19. This was a very nice hotel. Beds were very comfortable and room was very clean and quiet. We stayed on the 19th floor. We did request to change rooms after the first day because our toilet was not functioning correctly. Front desk immediately granted our request and moved us to a nice corner room. Parking was very good. There are no restaurants outside the hotel within walking distance. We drove over to the Harmon Meadow Mall area where there were numerous restaurant choices. Drive into Manhatten via the Lincoln tunnel is very quick. I made it in 30 minutes on a Friday morning leaving the hotel at 8am. Hotel also provides hourly shuttle service over to the Secaucus Train Station. Biggest complaint was that there is a $9.95 charge for internet usage and also the business center charged for the use of their computers. I would definitely stay again.
  15. I booked a one night stay at Jersey City Westin Hotel for $103 + fees on hotwire. Check in Saturday Aug 27. Hotwire listed amenities were: Non smoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, hi speed internet. I have stayed at the Westin before and it is an excellent Hotel .
  16. Attempting to get a 4* Hotel in Jersey City for Aug 27 . ( 1 night). I noticed that Hotwire had a 4* in Jersey city for $103 + fees. So I attempted to see if I could get a better price on PRICELINE. I started my bidding at $80 and went up to $100 in $5 increments but none of my bids were accepted. I am going to purchase the hotel on HOTWIRE. I will post my win on the HOTWIRE forum.
  17. Just booked the Sheraton Meadowlands from Hotwire for a price of $79 + $17.13 in taxes & Fees. I wanted to book for 2 nights , but by adding the second night , it raised the price per night to $92 + fees. For future reference are the fees per night or per reservation based? I called the hotel prior to buying to learn what their shuttle service was to the Secaucus Rail Station. Was pleased to learn that hotel shuttle will pick you up as late as 11:45 pm from the train station. The betterbidding forum made it very easy to 'know' what the hotel was in this case prior to bidding since the amenities listed were: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby
  18. My initial Bid for a 3.5* Hotel at the Orlando Airport ( MC)) was accepted at $40 / night . Total Price was $40 + $12.49 fees = $52.49 Check-In Sunday March 28, 2010 Check - Out Monday March 29, 2010 Once again this forum is great. By doing a search on MCO I was somewhat confident that if my bid was accepted that the Marriott would be the Hotel. My only regret was not looking at all the recent bidding strategies , I could of saved $2 by bidding $38 instead of $40. My bad... but no complaints. I think it took me a total of 3 mins to do the research , make my bid and get my confirmation back from Priceline. Very Happy at the Price, Hotel and Location . Thanks to the previous posters...
  19. Winning bid of $50/night + Fees for a two night stay. Bidding Strategy.... Initial bid of $45 for a 3* Hotel in the Windsor/BDL area was rejected. Priceline suggested that I rebid by adding $13 to my original bid. Instead of adding $13 to my bid I added the Avon area to my bid and increased my bid to $50/night. That bid was accepted. Hotel was the Courtyard Marriott Hartford located in Windsor CT. Total Price $120.68 ( $50 x 2 nights + $20.68 Fees)
  20. I was successful at bidding $96 + Taxes +Fees for a 4* Hotel in Jersey City which turned out to be the Westin. We ended up getting 2 rooms for a two night stay June 27 -June 29. Started bidding at $71 dollars since that looked like the minimum bid for previous 4* wins in this area. Unfortunately I needed to bid up to $96 by adding other zones. The information provided in this forum was very helpful and I was pretty confident that I would be able to win the Westin at the $95 price point. Thanks to others who provided information in their previous bids. I used the PRICELINE link within this forum to start my bidding.
  21. I was able to get a successful bid on the DoubleTree Hotel in Jersey City for 1 night checking in on Nov 26. Accepted Bid $110.00 + 25.16 taxes & Fees for a total cost of $135.16. Although priceline asked if I wanted a second night for the same rate, I was not successful when I tried to extend to Nov 27th. I did not ask for both nights originally because I previously had booked both nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Secaucus as a backup. I wanted to see the hotel before I committed our whole stay. We have never stayed at either and I do not have personal experience with either area. Seems like Doubletree in Jersey City is the better location. What do you think? I liked the fact that this forum helped provide information for me to make an educated guess on the potential hotel and location. I wanted to be close to the PATH train system. I was hoping for the Hyatt but thought that that was a slim chance based on this time of year. I would like transportation suggestions into NYC from this location. We would like to go pay our respects to ground zero. Should I consider the ferry? We will also have tickets on Nov 27 for Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. I am assuming the Path Train system is the best way to get there from the Doubletree.
  22. Stayed at this hotel on Feb 22,2007. Purchased Hotel via Priceline for $40 +Tax. Hotel was as advertised. Definitely would stay again. Here are the Pro's & Cons. Pro's: Check In/ Check Out: Flawless. ( Request for 2 double beds honored) Location: Excellent to the airport: (2 miles to MCO, just north of airport grounds on Rt 436) Free Wireless Internet: Easy Access Excellent Breakfast Nice Exercise Room Cons: Beds & Furnishings were a bit dated: Overall Impressions: The room was worth the $40 that we paid. Lots of restaurants across highway 436 within walking distance to hotel, . ( Denny
  23. Stayed at this hotel on 3/5/2007. Purchased Hotel via Hotwire for $50 + tax. I would question whether it was worth a 2.5* rating. Here are the Pro's & Cons. Pro's: Check In/ Check Out: Flawless. ( They allowed me to have an early check-in) Shuttle: Convenient and Friendly Driver. Shuttle Bus service starts at 5:00am. Since I had a 6am flight I decided to get a taxi. 3 other parties needed a taxi prior to 5am anyway so we split the cost. Location: Excellent to the airport: (2 miles to MCO, just off airport grounds) Free Wireless Internet: Easy Access Cons: Beds & Furnishings were quite dated: Strong disinfectant order within rooms. Outside room access. ( no interior hallway) Overall Impressions: The room was worth the $50 that we paid. However, since we stayed at the MCO AmeriSuites NW ( via Priceline on Feb 22), my preference is the MCO Amerisuites NW. Amerisuites rooms are larger and somewhat nicer , better breakfast, interior hallway and more restaurants around the hotel. However since most people will use this hotel as a one night stay over prior to flying out it is fine for that purpose. I was also told by another guest that if you stay at this LaQuinta that you can park your car there for up to 2 weeks free of charge.
  24. Just booked a 2.5* Hotel at Orlando (MCO) Airport using Hotwire. Hotwire price was $50/room. I booked 2 rooms for a 1 night stay checking in March 5. The hotel is La Quinta Orlando Airport West. I used the Savingsbarn.com link Amenities listed are: Shuttle, Pool, Breakfast, Internet. Total price with tax/fees was 118.34 . Best on-line price I could find was $84. Tried Priceline initially. My bids for the airport zone 2.5* Hotel were 33, 35,37,40,44,46. Also tried 3* Hotels $50, $52, $54. All bids were rejected. Last week I had a successful $40 bid on Priceline for a 2.5* Hotel at the airport (Amerisuites NW) . One night stay on Feb 21. I probably should of tried Priceline up to the $50 price point since on line ratings for Airport Amerisuites NW suggest that Amerisuites is the higher rated hotel as compared to the La Quinta Airport West. When I get back I will post a review on both Hotels. Previous posts on this board suggested that the likely $50 Hotwire Hotel at the Orlando airport was the La Quinta West Hotel. So the Hotel was not a surprise.
  25.
