  1. Thanks, I'll see if I can find the 2014 info. I think we went with Hotels.com or something because we needed specific bed types. : )
  2. It WAS the Hyatt Regency! Unfortunately, it went up, but with the extra discount (by following your HOTWIRE link), I still saved over $60 from what I had on Hotels.com for the Royal Sonesta. So I got Hyatt Regency Cambridge for $150/night x 2 nights, March 10-12, minus $15 for a grand total of $357.64. Thanks! Amenities listed prior to booking: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower
  3. I am staying with 2 teenagers in Boston this Friday and Saturday, March 10-12. My son will be at MIT during the day, but we want to get to Fannueil Hall and Beacon Hill as well. I have a reservation at the Royal Sonesta through Hotels.com for $183. Hotwire shows the following amenities below for 4* in Cambridge Waterfront- Charlestown. At $117, I wonder if this is the same hotel, or if it's the Hyatt Regency. If I have put in for 2 adults and 2 kids, will they always have 2 beds (or 1 bed and a sofabed)? Amenities Include: Free Internet, Pool(s), Pet friendly, Fitness center, Business center and more... FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower Thank you!!!!!
  4. We are bringing a few kids to Boston this thursday, April 24 and would love to find a hotel with a pool. Any suggestions for a bidding strategy that will give us a chance at a pool somewhere in downtown Boston? Looks like sticker prices for that date are fairly high (maybe people staying on the week after the marathon or just Spring break). Ideally, we'd like something less than $150. thanks!
  5. I bid $55 for 3* and got the Hilton Garden Inn on the first try. We were hoping for the Courtyard Marriott (kids like the breakfast and the pool), but at this price, we'll try the Hilton and then may re-think our strategy for the trip home. Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks, Better Bidding!
  6. Several years ago, we had great luck on Priceline with the Courtyard Marriott Downtown in Philly. I don't see that hotel on either the priceline or hotwire lists or forums. Do particular hotels sometimes discontinue participation in HOTWIRE / PRICELINE (yes, I'll follow the link to bid, thanks!).
  7. We're looking for a room in Boston (downtown near museums and attractions). Sept. 10-12. Hoping to get one with a pool for around $100/night. Any suggestions on doing that through Priceline? Essentially wondering what the odds are and how to bid so they're more in our favor. Thanks!
  8. Thanks, Yellowdog, I did click through the PRICELINE link, so I wonder if I did something wrong? Thanks!
  9. Visiting DC July 11-16 with 2 kids. Tried bidding first $85 for 4* White House/Downtown, then worked my way up adding Convention Center, Dupont Circle, and lowering stars to 3.5 and 3, raising the bid by $5 and $10 at a time. Added Georgetown/Foggy Bottom at $129. This was accepted for the Georgetown University Hotel and Suites. Now wishing I had gone with Crystal City as the Georgetown Hotel is not near a metro. They do seem to have a free shuttle, though. :) I'm hopeful that it will turn out well for us and we'll put up a review after our stay. Thanks!
  10. We wanted one night in Phila so I looked at the postings and offered $45 for 3.5*. I got a window that said there was little chance of accepting the bid, so I increased to $52. Then they offered to accept a bid $15 higher. Thoguth about trying something in the middle, but then decided that it was less than $10 difference, so I bid $67 and got......Congratulations, your price of $67 was accepted by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown. Unfortunately, the TripAdvisor reviews of this hotel are quite bad, so I'll let you know!
  11. Thanks for your help. I apologize: I forgot to go through www.savingsbarn.com. Feeling a bit pressed, I bid $125 straight away for 3 ***Capitol Hill/Convention Center and Dupont Circle/Woodley Park. I got the Hilton Washington, Dupont Circle/Woodley Park. I'll let you know how it is. Again: apololgies for not using the link.
  12. I have bid up to $127 with as few as 2 1/2* moderate plus on the following areas. No bites. I need to be on a metro line and would most like to be near the Capitol and/or the Pentagon/Reagan National. Today's my last chance to bid, so any advice will be helpful. I have and will use the links provided. Arlington
  13. I've now gone up to $120, including all areas except the northern suburbs, alexandria, and springfield. I have a max per diem of $165, including meals, so would like to stay below $120. Not looking good right now! I've also gone to 2.5 + stars in the areas close to the capitol. I want to avoid the low rent hotels in the hinterlands. Thanks. K
  14. I have been trying Priceline on and off for a couple of weeks to get a hotel for under $95 for Nov. 13-15 in Capitol Hill/Convention Center, White House, Dupont/Woodley, or Georgetown/Foggy Bottom. I would like to be within a short metro ride or walk to the Capitol, on the Union Station side. Any tips on bidding?
