    Anyone have any other ideas?

  4. I looked up where the testing site is. You'll only be on Riverdale road, but that road runs right by the airport. It is very lightly travelled. Luckily you don't have to get on any freeways or interstates. It shouldn't take you longer then 10 min. Traffic on the southside of Atlanta is far lighter than the northside, so you lucked out picking a hotel in the area you did.

    Good luck

  5. I used to live in Midtown, it's a far better neighborhood than downtown(in terms of crime and aggressive homeless(the ones in midtown might ask for change but won't pester you))

There are actually two Residence Inns in midtown. There is one at 1365 Peachtree Street and the other one is 1041 West Peachtree Street Northwest.

the one at 1041 West Peachtree is only about 2 blocks from a Marta station. 1365 Peachtree is a little further to the station and that station is also 1 more stop further away from downtown.

Also hotels are a premium around NYE in Atlanta due to the peach drop and the Chick-fil-a bowl(and now this convention)

  6. Personally i'd stay in Midtown. I lived there for a few years. It's convenient to the Aquarium, situated between downtown and Buckhead. There are a lot of restaurants. Downtown tends to have the more 'aggresive' homeless compared to midtown. homeless in buckhead is virtually nonexistent. But if you are going to have a car then i'd recommend staying in perimeter or galleria area. hotels are usually cheaper, and the parking fee is also cheaper if not free. i would not recommend staying in the following zones.

    Atlanta West - Six Flags

    Forest Park

    Jonesboro

    Kennesaw

    Lithonia

    Morrow

    Northlake

    Peachtree Corners - Norcross

    Stockbridge

    Stone Mountain

    Union City

these are either too far away or not in the best of neighborhoods.

  7. Thanks Colfax,

30-50% is about what i was hoping to save, if i got that i'd be doing back flips while juggling flaming bowling pins.

I think we will take a chance at the Radisson on Priceline and I'll report my bidding after we get back from the holidays.

    Thereuare,

Since this area is bidded on so infrequently I'm sure you probably can't give any bidding assistance. But if you could that'd be great.

  8. i only found it by doing a forum search for radisson quad city in the iowa forum. it was YEARS ago.(03)

i've looked the at the hotel list and it doesn't seem the radisson quad city is available on hotwire. but it is listed on priceline.

    Davenport (Davenport Quad City)

    3* Marriott Quad City Plaza--

3* Radisson Quad City Plaza Hotel REVIEW

that's from the hotel list here. While i know that isn't set in stone it's a good guideline.

here is the link for the person that had the last win.

    Radisson Quad City Plaza

for some reason when i used the insert: topic link it wouldn't work.

  9. I know it's early but I'm going to a wedding in Davenport on July 4th. It's at the Radisson Quad City plaza. Would really like to land this one since the little one is going. that way if she's too fussy we can just take her upstairs to the room. I know the board shows a Marriott with the same * rating in the quad city area but I do not see it on Mariott's website.

I was wondering if anyone has any info that the Marriott in the quad city area has indeed closed or been renamed.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Well after my wife found out the Staybridge Suites in the historic district has a kitchenette it was pretty much a done deal. Went through the staybridge link in the support/travel links page here. 179 cancellable rate (available for 162 if ya don't need a cancellable rate.) I did find what seemed to be the Hilton or Hyatt on HOTWIRE for 139, but we think the kitchenette is worth the $40 for the little one. Thanks for your help

  11. I would increase you bids and try again sooner rather than later, so that if you are rejected up to your limit you can begin to find suitable alternative accomodations.
    Will try that tonight thanks.
If you need help with a bidding strategy let us know.
i checked PRICELINE last night. Only 3* hotels are in the historic district so my rebids are:

    airport, gateway, midtown, and north?

I think those are right. But if you could give me a bidding strategy that would be great(still trying to get a hang of it.)
