  1. For Friday, Jan. 22 to Monday, Jan. 25, 2010: Bid 4 * TS, MTE, MTW starting from $100 to $120 with free rebids in $5 increments with no success. My actual bids were $10 less because of the bonus money. Then I chose TS 3
  2. Aaron---This win for Doubletree is on the Priceline board http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=85614& Let me know if I am reading this wrong. Thanks.
  3. Just an update. Bid the 4* suggested strategy (to $115) without success. Will try again. I see many wins for 105 from last winter and suspect that I may be a little too far out date wise right now. My bonus money offer expires November 15, so I would like to get something before then. I am also interested in a 3
  4. Hello again! I am back for the third time over the past 5ish years to bid on NYC. This time for the dates of 1/22/10 to 1/25/10. I have had success which includes receiving the Waldorf for $97/night back in '04 and the Grand Hyatt for $115 in '07. I have done the research and see that prices are down for my dates, including: Times Square 4* Hilton Times Square-209 Westin Times Square-224 W New York-Times Sq.-209 Midtown East 4* W New York-179 Waldorf Astoria-249 Intercontinental Barclay-252 Grand Hyatt New York-191 Midtown West 4* Hilton New York-199 Sheraton Hotel & Towers-197 I have planned this bid strategy to begin and also have $10/night in Priceline Bonus Money to use which will be added to my bid. 4* TS 85 +UES 90 +Brooklyn 95 Out 4* MTE 85 + UES 90 + Brooklyn 95 Out 4* MTW 85 +UES 90 + Brooklyn 95 Out 4* TS+MTW+MTE 100 +UES 105 Out Anyone think I have a chance of getting a TS, MTW, or MTE 4* for $115 ($105 plus bonus)? And what do you think of the strategy? I will use the betterbidding link as in the past. Thanks.
  5. To clarify the accepted bid was $115+$10 bonus money. I will PM you on the other details.
  6. Success for 4* MTE Grand Hyatt for $115/night (w/$10 bonus money) for Jan. 24 to Jan. 27, 2007 Bid stategy was: 4* MTW 115 +UES 120 Out 4* MTW + UWS 125 +UES 130 Out 4* MTW+UMCPS 120 +UES 125 +UES 130 Out 4* MTE 115 ACCEPTED Had previously bid MTE to $125 with no luck. The best rate on the Grand Hyatt website is $249 for Wed. and Thur. and $269 for Fri. I am thrilled. Thereuare-I know you like this place, so please provide any tips you may have. ESSA bagel? ~used savingsbarn.com link as usual. Thanks. Annette :)
  7. Thank you for the correction. In order to get the 3
  8. Ok, I think I figured this out myself. After checking the Hotwire Vacation packages, I saw the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel as a 3
  9. Got this on the first try yesterday. Had previously been trying for Boston Logan 4* up to $68 or so, but did not succeed. Decided instead to stay in the North Shore area and check out Salem this evening after driving back down from Maine. I hope this hotel is not as bad as the Trip Advisor reveiws are saying. Yikes! It sure is a heck of a deal though. Used the savingsbarn link. Still working on a rental car (SUV) for this trip. (And some Red Sox tickets!) :) Annette
  10. Success! Got the 4* Sheraton Boston Hotel in Copley for $140/night for two nights, August 2 to August 4, using previous bidding strategy. Just what we wanted, just where we wanted to be. Had previously bid up to $135 with no luck, so $140 must have been just right. Used the savingsbarn.com portal. I will also be looking for a hotel for Monday, August 7th, in Boston, but not sure where yet. I will be back when we are ready. ~Thanks thereuare, newbie and becky~ :) Annette
  11. Today I bid: Selected 4* Copley... Bid $90 --rejected, added re-bid zone1... Bid $100, --rejected, added re-bid zone2... Bid $110, closed browser and reaccessed savingsbarn.com Selected 4* Copley and re-bid zone3... Bid $120, --rejected, added re-bid zone1... Bid $125, --rejected, added re-bid zone2... Bid $132. No go! Will try again in a few days. Does anyone have any input on staying in the Cambridge zone for a Boston trip centered on sightseeing, Freedom Trail, Fenway, etc.? I did see a Hotwire deal for $88/night for a hotel I identified as the 3* Radisson for my dates. Thanks.
  12. Thanks newbie. I tried this just now, but did not succeed. Do you think I should wait a week or so to try again? I do not care to up my limit right now since I have so much time, but am curious what it is going to take to get the 4*. All input welcomed. I will check back later. Always started at savingsbarn.com. Annette
  13. Thank you for the bidding strategy. I bid precisely as you suggested. But, no luck today. I will stop back to see what strategy is next. Annette
  14. Hi thereuare, Right now, I am interested in bidding the Downtown Copley (for easy Fenway Park access) zone for a 4* up to $130. Is this in the ballpark? My gut tells me I am a bit low, but I feel like I have some time. What do you think? Thanks. Annette
  15. Hi! After having past great success bidding with PL in NYC and Cleveland, am now in need of help for a family trip to Boston this August 2nd to 4th (Wed to Fri). I have done a lot of homework and feel that we would be best in the downtown Copley area. Current rates are certainly not cheap. From the hotel websites, I found the following: Colonnade Hotel $299/night Westin Copley Place $299 Sheraton Boston $264 Marriott Copley Place $349 Fairmont Copley Plaza $289 I also explored EasyClickTravel and the Reverse lookup tool (Brilliant! thanks so much) and found: Sheraton Boston $195 Marriott Copley Place $234 Hilton Back Bay $193 (also, from Easy Click, but in a different area: Courtyard Boston Tremont $164 and Holiday Inn Select $153) Based on these numbers, can anyone suggest a bidding strategy. I see the newbie seems to have the inside scoop on Boston around here. And thereuare is also a great help. I already have plane tickets and am ready to bid, but would like to start out as low as possible since I have just under three months before the trip. I would be happy with the Sheraton Boston and have seen it come up regularly. I understand I have three free rebid zones. I hope that is enough information for assistance to be provided. Thank you in advance. Annette
  16. Thanks for the Anniversary wishes. This will be 15! :)

  18. I just wanted to offer a quick review of my PL stay at the Waldorf-Astoria for Mar. 11 to Mar. 14. IT WAS FABULOUS! All of our requests were gladly met. We received two adjoining rooms on the 17th floor with two amazingly comfortable double beds in each room. One room also featured a dressing/sitting room with vanity leading to a step up marble bathroom with double doors. It was luxurious! Also went to Cafe Wha on Saturday night for the late show. The music was really great, but the place was too crowded to the point of being a death trap! It is in a basement and I could only see the one way out. I would prefer going on a less busy night if I were ever to go back. We really did have fun though and danced, sang, and met some nice people. And we spotted a few rockers in the Waldorf coming in for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions which took place there Mar. 15. New York Rocks! And that is being said by a Cleveland native. Can't wait to go back and will use betterbidding.com help when I do!
  19. Because I could not start with a MTW 4* bid tonight (due to 72-hour rule and after trying) I adapted the strategy with fabulous results. I bid: 4* MTE at *$85 Rejected! Added MTW at $97 Accepted! At Waldorf-Astoria in MTE for two rooms Mar. 11 to Mar 14. We are THRILLED! And Flabbergasted after our recent attempts! I am so happy that this process is now over, but thankful for the fun and education! I appreciate all the support from thereuare and betterbidding and will spread the word. I think I may have to rewrite this title now that I am a winning bid, but I am not sure how. so please advise. :)
  20. Thank you for the cancellable back up suggestion :) Thereuare - I appreciate you offering options. I have done some checking of hotel websites and HW and do see a marked increase in prices from the first weekend of March to the second weekend of March. Since, we do want that second weekend of March. I am considering raising my limit to $120 for a 4* for 3/11 to 3/14. I would appreciate you offering a bidding strategy that includes MTW, MTE, UMCPS and Free-Rebid Zone. Our first choice is still MTW, but we are also very interested in MTE for Waldorf. So, taking that into consideration, I hope you can help. Thanks :)
  21. Today I bid: 3/11/2004 to 3/14/2004 3* MTW $77
  22. Thanks for your input. I am just sorry I didn't get lucky. I totally understand that it may take a little more $, but am willing to stay cheap for now. However, I was thinking possibly of adding the UES and going to $110 on that rejected bid. I think this might be like a pseudo-rebid for that Zone. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
  23. I just bid exactly as you suggested and was rejected across the board. Whattup? I think I will retry my 3* strategy tomorrow and go a little higher. Is there something about that weekend? I have found that the Architectural Digest home show is in town and the BiG East College Basketball Tournament is at Madison Square Garden. Any suggestions?
