  1. I'm really wanting the Hilton, and definitely trying to avoid the Grand Melia, but it also looks like the Omni (or others) could be in play. If you have other recs (priceline, etc) to get the hilton I'd be interested. I can't convince myself this is the Hilton. Thanks in advance! 2. Thanks again for this resource, I ended up with the Conrad! fitness, business, restaurant, internet
  3. Ah, i understand how it works now... We'd like to keep it under $120 as an absolute max. We'd prefer to make that $120 after room taxes, so $105ish would be better, but we won't cry about $120 for a cool hotel. Being within walking distance of the Ford theatre would be nice, and we'd really like something interesting/different if possible. Monaco has always been our favorite hotel, so that probably tells you a lot. It just used to be a LOT cheaper. The other couple we're meeting up with will be at the W Lakeshore (they have an employee discount of $65 that we couldn't get), and we plan to eat at Grand Lux, so hotels nearby either of those would also be secondarily preferable. Thanks In Advance!
  4. So HOTWIRE isn't working with any of those hotels? bummer
  5. Title really says it all, my wife and I are planning a short chicago trip to see Wicked and the Body World exhibit early next week (tues night 3/6). I was just curious as to what the best hotline bid strategies and bid values have been to help assure one of these three. I'd prefer Burnham > Monaco > Amalfi. We've been to Hotel Monaco many times and LOVE it, but just wanted to try something different with Burnham since it appears close to the theatre. I'll start digging through the archives now, but sometimes this place is so helpful that it's easies to ask up front. I'm fine with Priceline as well, it's just my understanding that Hotwire is easier to 'read'...and of course I'll use the forum's links.
  6. There aren't any non-opaque sites that can beat calling the hotel directly? Other hotels *near* the Flamingo east or west? As mentioned, I don't need to be on strip, just close to the Flamingo. (probably 1/3 mile max) On the Flamingo vs Rivieara question, isn't the Flamingo labeled "center strip" while the Rivi would be "North Strip"...at least on hotwire? Thanks for the help. This is a bit frustrating.
  7. I was talking about opaque OR non-opaque as options. Is calling the Flamingo at rack rates honestly the cheapest out there? Is there a way to give yourself good odds that you'd stay at the Flamingo via 3 bids? Is there a way to know the Riveira vs Flamingo before bidding, or any others that look like the Flamingo on the description?
  8. Surely there is a better option than paying rack rates...surely. Is there a way to give yourself good odds that you'd stay at the Flamingo via 3 bids? Is there a way to know the Riveira vs Flamingo before bidding, or any others that look like the Flamingo on the description? Both the Riviera and Excalibur would be too far for us. We're fine with off-strip hotels, but they'd have to be within half the distance of the Riviera and Excalibur.
  9. Thanks for the great resource, I'm new here but slowly getting the hang of it. My wife and i are planning to be in Vegas from 1/25/07 to 1/29/07 for a friend's wedding. Most all of the wedding party is staying at the Flamingo, but we are open to anything within a short walk of the Flamingo if there is a significant savings (over $30/night), otherwise I think we'd be best off staying in the Flamingo and trying for the best rate...which I lean toward anyway as it's supposedly a bargain for it's location. Orbitz Rates: 1/25: $140 1/26: $165 1/27: $175 1/28: $110 It looks like splitting may be on the table, though I'm not sure moving around will go over well with my wife. Any suggestions? - Should I try to look for non-opaque discount sites given the wide range of prices through those days? - Would you go with Priceline or Hotwire for a situation like this, where I'm probably looking for the best deal without splitting 4 times for 4 days? **BTW the Riviera is NOT acceptable due to location.
