  1. guess i will just stayu at eastgate.. after bidding two nights ago and came up empty.. maybe it just wasnt meant to be..
  2. I've tried MT west up to 210 and nothing.. it was a little more than i'd wanted to.. I don't really like the hotels in MTE area.. Wanted 3* in MTE since they are all decently rated on TA but nothing up to 205.. Does it typically mean if one area opens.. all the other opens as well? I've seen a few MTW wins but they are at 255 and up.. foir Sofitel.. I'll try MTW again.. if it fail.. what do you think? try for DT or stick with Eastgate?
  3. I heard that someone got Millenium broadway for 5/24-5/26 for 180.. so i figured that I would give it a try for 5/24-5/27 if i decide that it would be a good exchange.. someone else got 60 tompson for 5/27-6/1.. for about 175
  4. Hi, I have a dellima, i reserved eastgate for about 200-210 per night not including tax, but i've heard that some 4* in the DT area has opened up inventory, such as Millenium Hilton, barclay and 60 Thompson. Hilton has the best rating of the three. Do you recommend that i bid for 2-3 nights for one of the 4* hotels? IT seems like they are more luxurious for less money. Only drawback as I recall was that it is far from all the action. But given the price for a 4* would you say it's worth it? Are there subways out in the DT area? Thanks.
  5. This isn;t the Hilton Time Square is it?
  6. Thanks for the advice.. yeah the difference there is 220 or so.. I guess i don;t really mind the 200.. it's just if they are the same quality and feel then it would make no difference to me.. is EasyClickTravel pay after u stay or is it like priceline.. no refund? And do you know for sure the hotel is a beekman since it doesn't give the name?
  7. Thereuare, Sorry, should not have hijacked the other thread :) Is the beekman better than eastgate? It's a little cheaper i think.. which one would u go with?

  9. This is the only east side location i can find. Not too bad of a walk, does Eastgate hold baggages until check in? Being there at 8am probably will be too early to check in. It doesn't really say where to wait for pickup or if reservations are required, any idea if it's good to reserve ahead of time? Midtown Manhattan/East Side Grand Central Terminal (bus stops at 125 Park Ave. between 41st and 42nd Streets) Transfer available to hotels between 27th and 63rd Streets.
  10. I checked out the supershuttle and i guess it would be half as expensive as taxi and more convenient than bus.. it asks for the hotel, does it mean that it will drop us off at the hotel or near the hotel?
  11. Hello Thereuare, What would be the best way for two people to get to Eastgate from JFK? Will be arriving at 6am.. so it's pretty early on a saturday night, any suggestions? I guess I don;t mind taking the bus since i doubt it'll be too crowded in the AM..
  12. Hello thereuare, I called them this morning and their non-refundable rate are the same as the 10% given by Quickbook as refundable rate. So essentially if I book on Quickbook it's already 10% regular rates. Location looks great... i read through tripadvisor and I guess a lot of people were complaining that its dated and a little dirty.. but the majority loved it.. I guess unless i find a luxury hotel at 200 a night (i kinda doubt it), I will have to take this room. it's better than the red roof inn.. and closer than millenium UN.. On a side note.. i've heard of the huge sandwiches at carnegie deli and stage deli but heard of horror stories where at carnegie the are extremely rude and at stage they have a minimum charge of like $20/person and tack on 25% tip no matter what.. are these deli really that bad or are people exaggerating? I've never experienced any of this in san francisco.. is it really different in NY? I would love to give them a try but horrible service is something i hate.. and trying to rip me off is something i hate even more lol.. any thoughts?
  13. all 7 nights and cancel the other reservations right? If you highly recommend this hotel then i might just go with it.. i notice that it states that there's additional discount if i prepay and make it non-refundable.. my guess is 5-10%.. if there are additional discount if i make it non-refundable, should i just go for it or book a cancellable room and then try for 4* later?
  14. Yeah.. the only thing that excited me was that it was ranked like #13 on tripadvisor.. good service and decent room.. and people said it was in a decent location.. like a few block from time square and othe prime location.. is it pretty far from everything? I currently have Red Roof inn 20-24 $199 and 24-27 at Millenium UN Plaza $179. If I can get my friend to make it refundable reservation.. should I reserve this and replace the other two hotel? How would this hotel compare to the other two? I kinda have a feeling that I do not want to stay at Red roof.. so at the very elast i think courtyard is a lot better than red roof.. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  15. Courtyard...Upper east side 410 East 92nd Street New York , NY 10128 Distance: 2.6 miles | Map & directions
  16. Thereuare, A friend happen to knwo someone who works at the marriot and can get me roomat the Courtyard manhatten for 230 including tax a night.. so 199+tax. Tripadvisor highly rates it.. what do you think? It's a no cancellation booking so I can't change mind. It's a regular room 230sqft with a king bed.. i'm not sure if 2320 is big or not.. but i heard that the location is prime.. what do you think? go for it or wait for 4*. I guess as long as the room is not tiny and convenient then it might be better than a 4*? Thanks.
  17. I guess I will just stick with Priceline. Been busy with a lot of stuff. I figured that no matter what I will need to wait until closer to find a good deal. I've reserved a couple of places as back ups.. so hopefully I will hear more success as May nears. I searched back to previous year and it doesn't appear that there were too many may bids won last year nor the year before posted.. looks like it might be tough to get a good deal this trip!
  18. Hi, I noticed that someone won bids for paramount from 5/24-5/28 on the hotwire board for 119, i was unable to get a 3* from 5/20-27 on priceline up to $140. Does anyone know if both priceline and hotwire draw hotels from the same pool or each set their price separately? i guessing that mybe the 20-23 are harder to get rooms, but i've even tried 24-27 without luck. Any thoughts? If they are run and priced differently then maybe i will try hotwire. any thoughts? Thanks!
  19. Bidded the last few nights and no luck. Will continue.. I've even gone up to 180 to test the waters and still no luck for 4*.. Doesn;t look good..
  20. I'll take your advice and leave out downtown. Max bid for 4* 170 3*140 I'd much rather try to get 4* but it appears that 170 may not be enough.. I know that 140 wasn't enough for 3 * a week ago when I bidded. ouch..
  21. I guess the problem for me is that i have to wait for things to open up? Any specific bidding strategy i should use?
  22. Hi Flo, How did you like the red roof? I have it as a back up for my trip in may. What i hate about them is it cost 20 more if there are two people.. and another 20 more if there are 3 people. Honestly, how strict are the hotels with the # of guests in a room? I mean how in the world are they going to monitor if you have 1-2 more people with you? Unless they put the number on your room card and the security guy checks it or something. It doesn;t make sense.. Reviews are decent.. goodluck!
  23. Well I chose downtown because I like their 4* hotels. I figured that I can take the subway or walk anywhere i want. I dunno why but my perception is that NYC is a small area which I can walk everywhere.. maybe i'm wrong. I didn't bid utm-cps for 3* because i didn;t like some of the hotels offered for the 3* level. I do like their 4* hotels though. Maybe I should avoid Downtown? I would hate to have to take a cab back everynight or come back to a ghost town.. like here in san francisco.. the financial district is like a ghost time once work is out.. Our main purpose of this trip is to try the food in new york, sightsee and for my wife to shop. So we would rather spend less on hotel if possible. However, we would still like to experience living in NYC. I was hoping to wait til the last minute and get lucky and land the Sophitel for 160 a night.. i know i'm dreaming!
  24. I've tried all zones for 4* up to 180 (kinda got carried away the other night).. and 3* I'd tried to 140 with no luck. I think I'll pass on $149 for Millenium UN.. I'll try to play the waiting game.. since i wouldn;t be unhappy with red roof nor Millenium.. I figured I can constantly bid and wait since I have over 4 months left til departure. Eastgate does look good.. hm.. you plan sounds good.. but it'll be about 25-30 more per night (including tax and fees) than red roof for 4 nights.. about 100 more.. I know it's only 100 more but I think I'm overpaying for red roof already.. so i will hold off and wait and maybe try for a 4* instead.. if not then settle for red roof.. my preference 4* Downtown MTW MTE UMT-CPS 3* MTE MTS Downtown I'd be happy with any hotels in those zones except maybe a few, but I won;t complain. Maybe prices will go down as we pprocah the date.. or maybe it will increase.. this is like gambling lol
