  1. Just a stop on the way through. Postings here and elsewhere suggested this was the hotel. Should be fine. Amenities - pool, Internet, fitness, restaurant, golf nearby, business centre, laundry. Came to about $64 w/ fees and taxes.
  2. The anticipated LQ popped up again when I searched this AM and decided to book it. Reviews here and elsewhere have been decent. I have the Hyatt on another leg of the trip and I'm curious how they will compare. Amenities include shuttle, breakfast, fitness, pool, business centre, laundry and Internet Came to $173.20 w/fees. Funny thing is I immediately did another search following the booking to check something and noticed all prices had increased. This hotel went up $8/night. Used the HOTWIRE link.
  3. July 6-9 - three nights, two rooms. Sorry about the double post. It happens when you rush.
  4. Looking for a few nights on our return through Minneapolis. Got the Hyatt Place going out (happy about that) but it doesn't show at present. I'm thinking the 3* Bloomington West at $49/night - shuttle, pool, business centre, internet etc may be the Holiday Inn. The 3* Bloomington West @ $55 as before plus breakfast might be La Quinta. Make sense. I'm wondering about the 2* Bloomington Central showing shuttle, breakfast, laundry, Internet @ $45. Any ideas. Prices are creeping up as time moves on. Likely rooms are filling up. Thanks.
  5. Saw the recent win for the same location. As before, $39 a night with two rooms. Services include: shuttle, breakfast, fitness centre, business centre, (excuse the canuck spelling ), Internet, golf nearby Total came to $183.71 for the two nights. Used the HOTWIRE link.
  6. Travelling alone this time so I used Priceline instead of Hotwire. Seems a good buy at $43. Used Savingsbarn link.
  7. Need one night in Spokane Aug 17. Hotwire is returning a few hotels one of which is a 2.5 star with the following ammenties: breakfast, laundry, fitness centre and Internet. The price seems to vary between $56 and $6x. The hotel list shows the Holiday Inn Express but with the regular price of $79, I'm wondering if this is instead the Howard Johnson. If it was listed as 2*, I'd be more certain. HI Express is much more desireable. Any suggestions?
  8. Just completed a single night stay. The hotel opened in October 06. It shows as new. The location is on the west edge of Edmonton so it's best suited to those intent on seeing West Edmonton Mall or don't mind a commute. On arrival the size of the parking lot strikes you. The hotel is attached to a casino and has acres of parking available. The lobby is very large. with high ceilings and a rich ambiance. Decor is upscale casual. The desk clerk was friendly and the check in process fairly quick. Our fourth floor room was average sized with two beds, spotless, with high quality bedding and textured carpeting. The room had a 32" LCD TV. Free channel selection wasn't that extensive. Furniture quality is well above the average. The bathroom toiletries were of good quality and the towels thick and absorbant. The bathroom had both a shower and a deep tub. Lots of water pressure with a large shower head and an attractive arched curtain rod. I glanced at the fitness room. Easily the best equipped room I've seen in hotel not affiliated with a gym. I didn't use the restaurants. The room service menu is quite pricey. There is a Starbucks within walking distance otherwise dozens of restaurants are 5-10 minutes away by car. The hotel is an easy 3* as Priceline describes it. I paid $53 + fees/taxes. Having stayed at half a dozen hotels in Edmonton, this would be my first choice when I don't need to stay downtown.
  9. Booked two rooms for the night of July 22. Initial bid of $49 was countered with a suggestion to raise the bid $14. I ignored it and rebid in two zones w/o 3* hotels. $53 per room bid was accepted. Total for two rooms is $126.60. Used savingsbarn link. Looking forward to trying this location. I usually stay downtown for business (see review of the Coast Plaza from last week) but this is a pleasure stay.
  10. Just finished a two night stay. A good alternative to others in the core. Over the years for business or pleasure, I've stayed at the Westin, Chateau Lacombe, Edmonton House(now Coast Edmonton House), Alberta Place Hotel (avoid!) and now the Coast Plaza. A reasonable sized room with a comfortable bed, large bathroom and free wireless Internet. My 6th floor room had a strong signal. The Westin, last I heard, still charges for that. Very sad. Exercise area is quite small. Staff is friendly. Parking during my stay was a reasonable $8/day in a covered area beneath the hotel. There doesn't appear to be enough space though, for times when the hotel is full. I paid $60/night which for Edmonton these days is quite fair. Would stay there again.
  11. Two nights @60.00 night. Total with fees $142.45.
  12. Stayed two nights on a Priceline win April 13/14 2007. Generally positive experience. Pros: The lobby, though small, is presentable and staffed by friendly employees. Common areas such as hallways are attactive and in good repair. The room, no doubt a Priceline designate, was average sized though quite comfortable. The bed, a king, was very comfortable with both foam and down pillows. Both my wife and I bring our our down pillows when we travel. I find some beds have foam pillows that are so hard, I have slept without them. No problem here. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated with a picturesque south view. The bathroom was small with no tub , but with a large shower. Water pressure was fine and there was lots of hot water. Fitness room is well equipped with mulitple treadmills and ellipicals plus weight stations and equipment. Cons: Being downtown, we paid $18 for valet parking. This needs to be worked into the bid price unless you need a central location. Personally, I hate to pay but understand the facts of life. Still, I prefer to park myself rather than wait for a busy valet. The check-in is a problem in that there is no real drop off location. The entrance doors sit immediately beside the entrance to the parking lot (not the hotel's). I can envision major traffic jams on weekdays. All in all, a nice place deserving the 2.5* rating, perhaps a 3*. We didn't try the restaurant BTW.
  13. I was using free rebids to try and get a 3 star in the south end. When I ran out of 3 and 4 options I ended up with the 2.5 downtown. The prefered option was the same on the west side. That was mainly to avoid the heavy parking fees downtown. It was to be expected that downtown is cheaper on weekends than the west side. West Edmonton Mall, on the west end, attracks lots of weekend tourism. Time was running short so I took the chance and ended up downtown.
  14. $60 per night for a total of $142.39. 2.5 star rating in the downtown area. Would have prefered the Westin for a bit more. Should be fine though. $20 a night for weekend parking strikes me as high. I guess Edmonton has made the big time.
  15. Planning on a one or two night stay in Edmonton. We've stayed at the Crown Plaza in the past and liked it. This time we want to stay in the south since it will be more convenient for shopping. I ran through the forums and didn't locate any references to hotels in the south Edmonton area. The request returns 1,2, and 3 star hotels (no 2.5). Looks like its not reported. Any rumours? In the past, I think that the Coast Hotel was either Hotwire or Priceline affiliated. Any help is appreciated.
  16. Amenities for the Extended Stay Deluxe included breakfast, fitness, pool, laundry, and Internet. We searched the regions for Seattle and north. It's interesting that there is no mention of the fact this is a suite hotel. There is a suite hotel in the listing which I suspect is the more basic Extend Stay. When I booked it was the same price. Go figure. Thanks again.
  17. Made the booking (off this site). Chose to go with the Bothell/Kirkland offering for Aug 10-15. 2 rooms, 2.5* @ $39/night/room. Ended up being the anticipated Extended Stay Deluxe. I did the research and based on that and the postings here, it seemed likely. We're happy with the outcome. Current web bookings are $100 per room plus tax. Total comes to $442.32. Thanks for the help. Now, does anybody know how to get discounted Mariners tickets? :)
  18. Continuing our search. The hotel list has a Renton property 2* as the Extended Stay. This is a property that lists only a laundry. One poster was surprised to get it as it is really a mini-suite style motel. We're considering two rooms at the offered rate of $39 a night per room. The only Renton Extended Stay is ESA Deluxe. Could it be a different hotel? Did a search of the board for Renton with no further success.
  19. Bellevue. Based on your comments about Bellevue in another thread though, I'll focus more so on Renton. I'm still leaning on HOTWIRE simply because I don't want to get caught with one bed. Other than summer, I'd think that finding a double shouldn't be a problem. What's your opinion on summer travel?
  20. Trying for 3* in metro Seattle went from $50-60 for a total of 4 free rebids. Will likely need to go higher. Hotwire has a 3* for $72 during that stretch. Based on this forum, it's either the Sheraton, Doubletree or Red Lion. Would prefer the latter two.
  21. I've read really mixed reviews of this location, especially on the service end. How did you find it? Would it be ok for a longer stay?
  22. I.D. in Kent, WA Options Back again for advice. I've found a 2* in Kent for Aug 10-15 at $39, 4 persons. Amenties listed as breakfast, fitness centre, airport shuttle, Internet available, laundry and golf nearby (whatever that means). I used Travelocity to narrow the selection as best I could. Since Hotwire's areas are "generous", it's hard to be sure. It seems likely to be the Red Lion South (mixed reviews), Howard Johnsons (terrible reviews) or the Sleep Inn (excellent reviews and for that reason not likely :) ). There are no 2* hotels listed in the guide. I've been looking to upgrade from my reserved Econo Lodge but not at twice the price (booked at $60/night which is very good for August). This option is simply a cheaper version. Ideas? Edit: Just checked Hotwire's package feature and I'm now thinking it the Days Inn Kent. So-so reviews.
  23. Hi Mommc07, What was your opinion on the hotel? I stayed in Country Inn and Suites a couple of times and enjoyed them. What was your take? Canuckprof
  24. That's the list. Though I find hotels ratings slightly inflated on Hotwire, this seems quite full service for 3*. The Bellevue 2.5* is likely the Paragon but I've read such a litany of bad reviews, I want to avoid it. Thanks again. BTW, I am willing to go with PL but we can't stuck with one bed.
