  1. Well, 1 down. 6 more to go. I was successful at the Courtyard by marriott. They changed my reservation to a random date in March. When I know my plans for sure, I can call them back to firm up. Now, Im keeping my fingers crossed for Hilton and Hyatt.
  2. I know this is a longshot, and its my own fault for not taking the insurance. Long story short, I broke my big toe on Friday. I had a flight out tonight( NW using airmiles) and various priceline rooms booked in LA and Long Beach. Is there anyway to get a refund? Any tricks to know? Anyone been sucessfull with this? Would it help for me to call the hotels( 4 nights are at Hilton where I am a gold member)? Please advice. Thanks I was able to get my airmiles put back into my account for a 50 dollar fee. I'll be out almost 300 in hotel fees and my friend who was supposed to meet me there is out 2 nights that he paid for and his flight.
  3. I was really hoping for the courtyard, started at 34, given a 9$ counteroffer( WHAT?), I added Santa Monica and bid up to 36. Oh, well. My plane arrives at 9pm and I have a 10:45 appt in Santa Monica. I didnt want to drive to my friends house in Costa Mesa and then drive all the way back to Santa Monica the next morning( after living in Canada for 2yrs I cant stand traffic). PS I think I got ripped off, i checked the website afterwards and this hotel was going for 64$ I could have booked directly for about 25 xtra bucks and earned the priority club points. Oh well, lesson learned.
  4. Stayed on Oct 6th, one night. Paid 35 on Priceline. At check-in I was told there were no non-smoking king rooms, unless I had requested prior. I had and had written down the persons name I spoke to. All of a sudden a non-smoking room became availble. This hotel only has 4 floors. My room was large with a large bathroom. The sink was in the seperate vanity. The bed had a down comfortor, numerous pillows and another down bedspread. There was a large desk with a fax machine and hookups for internet. I used the fitness center the following morning. The fitness center had one large weight maching for various excercises, free weights, 2 treadmills, and a stairmaster. There is also an indoor pool. I added the parknfly option on for another 30$( up to 7 more nights parking at a lot across the street). I noticed many blood stains on the bathroom floor( I think from someone shaving their legs) and alerted the front desk on checkout. They offered to waive my parking fee without me asking and I was pleasantly surprised. I took the parking shuttle to the airport and was displeased to see my plane was delayed over an hour. Oh well. This was well worth the money and Id stay again in a hot second.
  5. Tried 50$ for 3* for downtown LB zone. Rejected. Didnt want to bid up to a 4* because I saw on TOBB that Hyatt is now a 4* in that zone. I checked Hilton website and this Hilton in Carson is showing at 109$ I am Hilton Gold so I'll get the upgraded room and free breakfast. Im going to try again for 40$, I have 3 more nights to book.
  6. Rejected at 40 and 45 for Sunday Nov 7th. Started new bid for Monday. Rejected at 50, given a counteroffer of $14.00( WHAT?) Started new bid for 55$ Succesful for the Hyatt. I was hoping for the Hilton though!! Oh well... Im going to wait before I bid the rest of the week.
  7. Tried 35$, Given a counter offer of 9$. Decided to go back in and rebid using a free bid zone, upped to 40. Accepted. Made a mistake and picked the next day by accident. Called priceline, rebid and was accepted for the right day. Priceline refunded my money for the wrong date.
  8. Given a counter offer of $13.00. I declined. I have plenty of time to bid.
  9. Thanks, That does help. Needed another night. Same hotel, same dates. Your Offer Price: $33.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $9.12 (US dollars) Total Charges: $42.12 (US dollars
  10. I need a second room, so I thought Id try again and go for the gold bidding 30 bucks. Denied at 30, given a counter offer of 8. Didnt take the counter offer, Ill try again in 3 days. I have plenty of time.
  11. Started at 35$ accepted first bid. Hotel: Courtyard By Marriott Toronto Downtown 475 Yonge Street Toronto, Ontario M4Y 1X7 Canada 416-924-0611
  12. I live pretty close to London, and I've stayed at this hotel before. Its a nice hotel. Do you know what hotel comes up for downtown? Is it the Hilton?
  13. I was hoping to get the fairfield Inn as I've seen a few winning posts. Im wondering if its too soon.
  14. I have a coupon for a free day at ParkNFly at the following locations. Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Windsor, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. It expires Aug 31st 04. I'll gladly mail it to someone who can use it. PM your address if interested.
  15. We stayed this past weekend. Civic Weekend in the rest of Canada. This was also Pride weekend in Montreal. I booked this directly thru Starwood. I got a promotional CAA rate 129 CAD a night. I was given the option of a large room on a SPG gold floor or a smaller room on the club level that includes free breakfast. We took the latter. We had a very large sweet sleeper king bed. The room was standard. It had a desk( was supposed to have an executive chair, this one didnt). There was a printer/fax copier machine in the room. I asked for a fridge to be sent up for some medication. In additon to a nice continental breakfast( croissants, muffins, fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, bagels, cheese) there were complimentary appetizers in the evening Tea and coffee thru the afternoon too. The first morning the breakfast was jammed packed so they gave us a voucher for the downstairs restaurant for a full hot buffett. It would have cost 18$, not worth it in my opinion. The location was fantastic as well. The service was very good too. Id stay there again in a heartbeat.
  16. Ive never gotten a sorry room and if I did I wouldnt take it. Id speak to a manager and ask about another room. I used to get upgrades when I was only a Hilton Blue member. In a couple of days Im going to call and add my Hilton Gold number to the reservation. That usually seems to work.
  17. I started at 35, given the option to increase by 9. I increased to 39, rejected. Added Belair and increased again to 41. Im ok with the Hilton. Im a gold member so we can get a free breakfast and a room upgrade. Now I have 5 more nights to bid on, but I want Long Beach for those.
  18. Hi, Thanks for the advice. I dont want to spend more than 40 for a night. I figured I'd lowball right now because I have plenty of time. I'll keep your strategy in mind when I rebid again.
  19. Ive just spent the last half hour trying to find a good printer deal. I have NO clue what Im looking for, I just know I dont want to spend too much. Thereuare, do you know of any other deals? Thanks
  20. Started at 35 with LAX, was asked to raise bid by 9$..... I started all over and added culver city,r aised to 37, added Santa Monica raised to 39, added Bel Air raised to 40. I knew I wouldnt get those other areas, I was just checking them to get rebid opportunitys. I stopped at 40 because I know I can get something closer to the date of travel.
  21. Since Im in Canada and I have an American address in MI that my American credit card bills come to, I bid for a lot of Canadians that dont think or want to make up an account. I've recently bid for my MIL and was succesful. I did a lot of research for another friend and gave him the info to bid. I wish this 15$ point thing was going on last year, or if it was that I knew about it.
  22. 30 and 33 rejected. First choice Long Beach, then added LB airport zone.
  23. this was an experiement. A friend of my ex works for marriott and said he could get me a 49 rate for the week. I looked up the price of the courtyards and it was going for 109. I decided to bid and I was succesful at my first try of 40. Im wondering if I bid too much, probably not as I was rejected at 40 for a 3* a few days ago. Im going to try again for 35. btw, this is for 11/6-11/7 Thereuare, can you please fix my title to include the date?
  24. I always call ahead to request a king( because its always supposed to be two double beds) and I have NEVER been denied. Ive used priceline over 30 times and Ive never had a problem. Just be sweet but firm.
