  1. Started with a 4* at 50, 55 and 60. Stopped at 60. This is for Sunday, 6/24/07( please fix the title, I was cut off) Opened the browser again and started with 45. Maybe I could have gotten it for 40, who knows. We're only staying 1 night, checking in Great Wolf Lodge the next day. I'm off to call the hotel to make my requests for a non-smoking room.
  2. In the past, I've won Ft. Lauderdale( Davie, Weston, Plantation)( not sure what zone this is called) for 25.00. Its the Homestead suites. Please read my review before deciding. Its a 2* but very no frills. I've stayed in a lot nicer 2* in other places. You also want to be aware sometimes( not often) there is a parking charge. Case in Point, we just returned for the Bahia Mar( a 3* and parking was 22.00 a day).
  3. I tried to use the HOTWIRE link, but I had trouble with Hotwire verifying my billing address so they completed the transaction for me. Not sure if you'll get credit. Anyway, I stayed at this crappy Homestead suites back in October 05. I even wrote a review saying I'd only stay for 1 night on either end of an airport trip. Well, I broke my own rule because I booked this for a week. It was super cheap, especially with the car included. The car alone was going for 400 for the week. I suppose I could have waited closer to the time of travel, but I don't know if I'd feel comfortable doing that. So, this chain is part of Extended Stay America. Rates shown on their website are 79.00 a night( I'd never pay that), even if I could have booked thru priceline for 25 a night, it still would have exceeded the cost of the package. The hotel does NOT have a pool, but since my family is in the area, I can use one of their pools. I dont plan on spending much time in the room, really just a place to sleep. 7 nights, mid-size car rental. $490.00( all tax and fee's included).
  4. Just got back from an 8 day stay at the Bahia Mar. I paid 1092.00 for 2 ppl, 8 days with a midsize rental car included. About a week before I left, I wrote an email to the GM of this hotel using advice I read on Gary Leff's blog a view from the wing. I basically wrote an email asking for an upgrade, saying I wasnt entitled to it, but I'd heard great things about the Bahia Mar, etc, etc. It worked. When we checked in, we got 3 upgrades to an ocean view room. Cons: The hotel was nothing special and I found the service to be sub-standard. I received wrong directions from the concierge one night. The valet parking was outrageous at 22.00 a night plus tax( self park isnt much better at 18.00 a night). However, the parking ended up being comped because someone( maybe a housekeeper or maintenance man) smoked in our room when we werent there. The room reeked of smoke and I found a ciggarette but on the balcony. A few mornings( around 8am) the walkway to the beach was locked. The pool was advertised as heated, but it wasnt. Oh and I didnt enjoy the mandatory 18% service charge on the 2 drinks we ordered at the pool. Pros: The bed was comfy, the toilitries were Rusk and were very nice. The towels were fluffy. The fitness center was great, in fact I used it 7 days in a row. The equipment was new, however at times I felt like I was picking up lots of germs because I never saw anyone wipe them down. The pool was clean if a bit chilly. The location was great( although if you dont like waiting for a drawbridge, skip this hotel, we caught the bridge at least 4 times in 8 days). Overall, this package was well worth the money paid. I doubt I'd book this hotel independently though, the parking and service fees turned me right off.
  5. We needed an airport hotel for our return date( too late to drive back to Ontario). I've been trying all week at 45.00 for 2.5 or 3. I decided to go back to a 2.5 for 50.00 and was upgraded to the 3*. I read the review( funny, it was my review) when it was the doubletree and I was happy with the hotel. That was back in 2004 and I paid $35.00. I guess those days are gone!! Your Offer Price: $50.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.62 Total Charges*: $64.62
  6. I booked this using the HOTWIRE link provided :) However, I booked the package ( midsize car included) for a total price of 1042.00 for 2 ppl. So, the dates are 3/13/07- 3/21/07. The hotel is The Bahia Mar. I chose the package because I needed a car rental for 8 days and the price of that alone ( with Enterprise, notoriously the cheapest car rental) was over 400$ so, I feel like I got a pretty good deal. I had the Days Inn, Hollywood booked as a backup for 149.00 a night.
  7. ok, i went back and didnt see the Tennis Icon listed on the front, but when I checked hotel details, it showed Tennis nearby. I guess that is why I was confused. I know exactly where the Bahia Mar is( I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale). Does anyone know how much Parking is?
  8. I got this Resort, Near Beach, Fitness, Pool, Business center, Laudry and Hi Speed. I first though Bahia Mar, but there was no Tennis Icon. 99 bucks seems very cheap for this time of year, at the beach. Any thoughts? Thanks Randi
  9. Good luck bidding. You're bidding at the Prime Season for Ft. Lauderdale. I truly doubt you'll be successful. Try to book a back up hotel. I booked the Days Inn in Ft. Lauderdale/ Hollywood for 169 a night. It just kills me to pay that. Why did my neice have to be born during Spring Break?????
  10. Whoops, I was so excited, I forgot to mention the hotel. It is the Hilton. I tried to edit my entry, but it wont let me. :)
  11. rebid today @ $46.00. Accepted on first try. This is a good reminder to never take the counteroffer. Split it in half and rebid. Randi Credit Card: MasterCard xxxx-xxxx-xxxx- Your Offer Price: $46.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $184.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $30.90 (US dollars) Total Charges: $214.90 (US dollars) Btw, I used savingsbarn.com.
  12. Rejected at $40.00. I just picked a random number to start with because years ago when I stayed there regularly, I always won at $38.00-$40.00. I read this board about a week ago but didnt see a windsor win for some time. When I went to post this today, I saw the win at $52.00. I was given a counteroffer of $12.00. I'll wait until tomorrow and raise my bid to $46.00 to see if that works. I closed the browser and bid again for the 2.5* @ 35.00, that was rejected as well.
  13. Your Offer Price: $38.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $114.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.60 Total Charges: $132.60 Whooooo Hoooooo, I was hoping and praying it would NOT be Studio Plus!!
  14. I'm glad to hear it too. I'm traveling back to AA in August with a friend and I dont want to share a bed with her either. I'm praying I don't "win" StudioPlus. The Hampton( just came back from there on Wednesday) is sooooo much nicer.
  15. Yesterday bid $35 for a 2 star. I was *hoping* that I would get the Hampton Inn South as I had stayed there before and was happy with it. I was also Praying that I didnt get Studio Plus. I was rejected and given a counter offer of $9.00. I closed the browser and waited until today. I bid 40$ on a 2 star and got the Hampton Inn South, Thank Gawd. 6/19 for 2 nights. Thereuare, you might want to update the title to reflect this.
  16. *2.5 Ann Arbor, REJECTED $35, $40,$42 All rejected. First tried 35, waited 24hrs and tried 40, another 24hrs and tried 42$.
  17. I thought I'd follow up and let you all know that I booked a room at the Day's Inn in Ann Arbor. I didnt want to risk getting Studio Plus again since the bed was SO uncomfortable( and they say its a queen, but it seemed more like a double). I got the Day's for 42 a night, plus I get 20 trip rewards point for each dollar and a bonus of 250 points for booking online. We're only using the room as a place to sleep and we stayed there once before about 4 years ago and it was fine. Plus, its easy freeway access, and right near Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc. ( you can see where my priorities are).
  18. 3* DTW( airport) $40.00 rejected, Feb 15th, 2 nights. Look's like I might be stuck rebidding on the studio plus in AA.
  19. 2.5* Ann Arbor~ Rejected $45.00, Feb 15th, 2 nights Options Rejected. Signed out, signed back in. Bid 30 on a 2* knowing I'd get the studio Plus. Rejected but given a counter offer "if you raise your bid by 8 dollars". I didnt take it.
  20. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this is by far the worst most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. The mattress is flimsy, the pillows are flat, the towels are like cardboard.
  21. I "won" this hotel in December and I immediatly had buyers remorse. I resigned myself to stay there since it was only 1 night, I was arriving late and leaving early. The location was good, the room was large and clean. The bed sucked though, so keep that in mind. Im about to bid again for AA, I just hope I dont get this place.
  22. Thanks for the reminder. A couple years ago we won a Homestead suite( i think thats the name and its part of this studio plus family) in Davie, FL( ft. lauderdale). We had to call ahead because they arent staffed and they just left our key in a drop box. Anyway, I HATED that place, even for 25 bucks. The bed was HORRIBLE, the towels were threadbare. There was no night table on my side of the bed. Icky, even for 25 bucks. I hope this place is better.
  23. Stayed Friday Nov 25th, 05. One night. Paid 47$ This was a great hotel in a great location. This hotel is attatched to THE BAY department store with access to the subway station. You dont even have to step outside to get to the subway station. Valet Parking was steep at 25 plus taxes but you can self park for 15$ on the weekend. No mention of priceline on checkin. I had called ahead to reserve a non-smoking king and was given that and even asked what floor I would like. Room was large, with the new comfort beds, lots of pillows, cotton sheets, down comforter. Bathroom had Bath and Body works products. Hotel had a gym on 3rd floor with treadmills, and lots of weight equipment. Checkout was 1pm. We got a 2pm checkout. Buisness center with free internet access. This was a great hotel and Id gladly stay there again.
  24. I seriously have a case of buyers remorse. I really wanted the hampton inn South. I have NO clue where this place is, nor have I ever heard of it. Thankfully, I'm flying in at 10pm and only need a place to crash before I go to my friends in Chelsea the next morning. Oy, wish me luck. Studioplus Detroit Ann Arbor Check-In Date: Tuesday, December 20, 2005 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, December 21, 2005 Ann Arbor 3265 Boardwalk Drive Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108 edit: I figured out where it is. Its right by the Hampton South across the street from the Briarwood Mall.
  25. 47$ , First bid. Was hoping for the courtyard, but this one get's positive reviews too. I called to see how much parking is. Very steep at $26.75 CAD
