  1. Ok, I tried to undercut on Priceline to no avail. I started at 50, then used free rebids up to 60$. Just for the heck of it, I wanted to see what the taxes and fees on Priceline was for 4 nights at 70 a night so I punched that in. The fees and taxes came to 42.51. On Hotwire they were 36.95. I was very surprised as I thought Hotwires fees were always higher. I just dont know what to do. Im so torn. What would you do if you were in my shoes? And, I really dont want to pay huge dollars for parking. Thanks R
  2. Ok, after reading THIS POST where mmermans won the Yankee Clipper, I'm torn because I too am going to FL from Southwestern Ontario from March2-10th. Like I previously said I want an airport hotel for the first night since Im arriving at 11pm and need to pick up a rental car the next morning. I checked the dates and see that this same 3* is availble for 70 a night. Now that I know what hotel it is, I am so tempted to take it on Hotwire, but wonder can I undercut the price from priceline? Or, will the prices go down. Do you know if this hotel has free parking? Thanks Randi
  3. I leave on the 28th of this month. I wont actually be staying in AA, I'll be taking my classes there at Ava Maria law school. Ill be staying in Chelsea. I wasnt aware that its 22 miles from the school, but all I plan to do is work out, and study. Hopefully the weather will hold up so I can drive back to Canada on the weekends to see my honey. Im not looking forward to this, but it must be done. Please email the places you talked about. Thanks R
  4. I saw your little symbol awhile ago, so I figured you'd be very familar with Michigan. I'm actually from California, but I moved to Ontario when I married a Canadian. My plan is to practice in Michigan and live in Windsor, ON. Sooooo, I'm not familar with the rivalry between the two schools. I'll ask my friend about it though, I'll be staying with her in Ann Arbor for two months while I take the bar classes. She is a sgt at the U of M police dept.
  5. Have you taken the Michigan bar exam?
  6. Ammenities are suite, pool, fitness, kitchenette and business center. Price is 51 for two nights. Feb 23 and 24. Im taking the Michigan bar exam. I already have a standing reservation at the Kellogg center for 94. The exam is being held there. Im wondering if its worth it for me to drive from whereever this mystery hotel is. R.
  7. I emailed the admin. of the other board to ask why I was banned and she said " I misquoted her" which I didnt. And, that one of the members on that board forwarded my post here to her. She also made some crack to me about me being a lawyer. I have posted numerous times over there regarding my experiences and winning bids at certain hotels. I have a lot to contribute, but obviously I threatened her "power" somehow. I can still read the posts over there, but I wont be posting or asking for any advice. I appreciate all your help thereuare , and I especially appreciate your great attitude. Just the other day I was reading some posts between you and thesqueegeguy about marriage and I was cracking up.
  8. Ok, and now I just found out Im banned from TOBB for who knows what. I know I questioned the administrators tone in her post to me. Im really shocked, but no biggie as my husband has an account. I like this board( and the administrators) better anyway!~!!!!!
  9. I almost wished I would have booked this. Last week it was showing for 46 on Hotwire, now its up to 70. Yesterday it was 69. It seems to be moving up every day. I know I have a lot of time, but Im nervous. I just bid 60 ( priceline)for 3* downtown Ft. Laud and was rejected. I see a 2* with beachfront for 89 but I wont take that. No one seems to know what that property is.
  10. I was scolded ( by an administrator) on TOBB for "low balling" my offers. Im not leaving until March so I thought " what the hell, I might as well try". When I realized this was going to be harder than I thought, I decided to pick an area and star level that I didnt want to stay in for the whole trip, but that one night ( the last night) would be ok. I posted my information and she came back with" I cant believe you setteled for this, considering your previous low ball offers on higher star levels". I was miffed to stay the least. I have been doing my research for the past two weeks and I realized that its high season in FL for March and I wont have the time in the next two months( taking Michigans bar exam) to play around here every 72 hrs.
  11. I agree, I had a feeling I would get it, since lately, Priceline has been sending me a "we're sorry" message in about 5 seconds. This one took a bit longer. I checked another message board and I saw someone else got this for 25 too, however, their stay was for December. I think 25 is the minimum this hotel will take since the other person started at 15.
  12. I almost booked this on hotwire, where the price was showing 30$ after taxes and fees would have been 40.98 I decided to undercut for Priceline and bid 25 for Plantation and Ft. Laud airport. This hotel is Homestead suites, Plantation/Davie. It doesnt have a pool( at least the website doesnt show one), but we'll be coming back from Marco Island that day so I dont mind, Im leaving Ft. Laud the next morning. Success Your Offer Price: $25.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $25.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $8.98 Total Charges: $33.98
  13. Hi, Thanks for your help. I went to the hotel website to check their rates. They were around 85, so I decided to book it on hotwire for my last night in Ft. Lauderdale. I dont care if they have a pool because we'll be coming back from Marco Island that day. I then decided to undercut the offer and check on Priceline one last time. Finally, SUCCESS!! I got this hotel. 2* for 25.00 Here is the summary.Your Offer Price: $25.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $25.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $8.98 Total Charges: $33.98 This is 7 dollars less ( with tax and fees) than the Hotwire price. Thanks for your help. I know i dont want this hotel for my first night and the subsequent nights so I wont be bidding 2 star in plantation. Thanks again for your help.
  14. Do you know what this hotel is. Ammenities are, kitchenette and laundry facility. Price is 29$ for March 9th. Thanks R
  15. I figured out the rebidding zones and bid as you suggested. All unsuccesful. Im so frustrated. I only tried the 3 star, Ill try the 2 star later. Thanks Randi
  16. yes, can you tell me the rebid zones. I think Mirimar is one, correct? Whats the other one? Thanks Randi
  17. I think you are paying way too much for this hotel. I bid on YYZ quite often, never bidding more than 30 on Priceline and I always get this or the Marriott. Try priceline first. You might be surprised.
  18. do you think I can get a 2* for 50 in the airport zone? I'll go up to 70 for the first night. Please supply a strategy.
  19. Hi, Thanks in advance for your help. Here is what I want( ideally). The first night Im flying into Ft. Laud airport. We get in at 11pm, so I dont really care what level the hotel is, since we're just sleeping there. I do NEED an airport shuttle though because I want to pick up my rental car the next morning so I dont have to pay an extra night. Then, I want to switch hotels preferably staying either in Plantation( No, I didnt like the crowne plaza sawgrass, it is WAY out of the way, its more in SUNRISE than plantation). Or...... Id like Ft. Laud Beach or Hollywood Beach or, Id even stay at the airport again, but in a 3 star. Last year we went and I tried for weeks and weeks and weeks to get something. I had a backup at Holiday Inn, Hollywood Beach and got that for 90 a night. The hotel next door was going thru major construction and they gave us a room overlooking that. The room was tiny and noisy. I ended up getting 10% back on my stay, so it was cheap but not that enjoyable. However, it was right on the beach which was nice. This was the 3rd week in February. Then, we leave for Marco on March 7-9th. I dont think I will get anything in Marco for less than 152, and I can collect my Hilton Points, so unless it was 100 or less, I wouldnt try. Lastly, I need one more night in Ft. Laud, or Plantation or Wherever. March 9th, I leave on the 10th. I might take the crowne plaza if I cant get anything else. It came to 60 with the fees and taxes. Thanks Randi ps: Im getting so frustrated. Im bidding every 3 days and I get immediate rejections. In fact, the screen doesnt even change, its up to me to check my mail. The screen says " just give us a few moments". I wonder if they "know" me and just reject me no matter what.
  20. Im going to FL on March 2- March 10th. Ive booked a reservation at the Hilton Marco Island for March7th and 9th. I got that for 152. I've heard that priceline doesnt have much inventory for Marco Island. I was trying for Key West but the more I thought about it, the more I decided Id rather go to marco. My husband has never seen either and I think the beaches are nice in Marco and I dont want to deal with the mass of tourists in KW. Next, Im trying to bid for one night for the airport since my plane arrives at 11pm. Id like to switch hotels the next day, and Im willing to stay at Fl beach or Plantation or Hollywood beach. Plantation as the 4* renissance that went for 40 last year same time. Do you think its too early to bid for any of these cities. Id like to not spend more than 50 in any zone. Thanks Randi :)
  21. You are right, Ive made the mistake ( a few times before I found this board) of bidding 30$ for a 3 star for TO airport. I always get Hilton, but the last time( Royal Winter fair) I got the Marriott. I was happy with the room, the bed was comfy, but the parking was 12 dollars. Im going to try for the Markham area or Don Valley. I heard the courtyard was nice with no parking charge and the time into downtown was about the same. any comments?
  22. Hi, Yes, Im using my free-rebid zones. I've also been trying for Key West and Marco Island to no avail. I really dont want to pay more than 50 bucks a night in Ft. Lauderdale. Do you think I'll have a better chance closer to the day of arrival? I checked the crown plaza website and the average rate for that time is 118.00. I see they have a best price guarantee but I dont think it would apply to Hotwire. If I booked it at 118 on the hotel wesbite and then told them about hotwire having it for 49, they have to give you another 10% off that. That would be nice but I doubt it could be that easy. I know patience is a virtue but Im getting antsy. I'll have to book something as backup. Ive seen( last year same time) people get the renissance for 40$(plantation). I just dont know what to do.
  23. Yep :) we are looking at the same hotel. This one has the same ammenities you listed. I have been bidding every 72hrs on Priceline for Ft. Laud, Plantation, or Ft. Laud beach area for March 2-7th. Ive been breaking up the days, Ive been changing locations. I've went as high as 40 for the airport at 30 for Plantation. I dont understand why Im not getting anything for 30 if Hotwire has this property listed as 48. Also, I know the processing fee is 5.95 or 6.95 on Priceline and the rest is tax. What is the processing fee for Hotwire. Do they charge the fee each night or just one time? I have never used Hotwire before, always priceline and Im very happy with it, just frustrated that I cant get anything. I'll keep trying though, any suggestions?
  24. Do you know what the 3 1/2 star distictive hotel in the plantation, weston, sunrise area is? It seem very cheap for 49 $ for March 3-7th.
