  1. Placed a bid of $49.00 and was accepted. Staying 2 nights Friday June 4 - Sunday June 6. Total for the 2 nights with taxes is $118.80 Have stayed at this hotel before and were happy to get it again. Last time we were there they were in the process of doing some updates. Left a review about the hotel last time and will leave one again advising about this stay. Of course like always we used the PRICELINE link thru betterbidding.com.
  2. Placed a bid of $45.00 for 3/20/2010 - 1 night stay and it was accepted. Hotel is 3.5* Of course used a link thru betterbidding.com for PRICELINE. With taxes and fees total came to $58.24. The hotel's website has the same rooms going for $149.14 (includes taxes and fees). We've stayed here before and have always enjoyed our stay.
  3. Just got back and have left comments in the hotel review part of betterbidding.com website. PRICELINE did a split on Bloomington area - this hotel now falls into the Mall of America area - in fact all the hotels around Mall of America are in this area. This hotel is 3.5* all the way. It looks like rooms are going to be updated soon - expect some great deals from this place hopefully!!!
  4. Stayed here 12/4/09 (Friday Night) 12/5/09 (Saturday Night) - $50 each night. We got this hotel right before the Bloomington split that Priceline now has. This hotel now falls in the Airport Mall of America area on the Priceline website. In fact all the hotels in this area (in and around the Mall of America and MSP Airport) are found in this section. This hotel is easy to get to from I494. It is located across the street from Ikea which always has a $0.99 breakfast! Parking is free and plenty of it. There is a door man to help with bags, taxi, and just questions you may have. There is a free shuttle to and from the Mall of America and also MSP Int. Airport. Staff was great, no worries about being a Priceline buyer here. The night front desk supervisor even commented on what a great deal we booked. Staff was always friendly and very helpful. My wife had everything she needed to look good spread out on the bathroom sink and when we returned back on Saturday afternoon we found that staff placed a nice towel on the counter and lined all of her things up to just to make the bathroom look great! The hotel shows that it has been updated in the lobby area and main walkways. I did see a board showing what the rooms are going to be updated to look like. I would expect that some major deals will be found soon at this place as it looks like all the rooms are in for a major update. Honestly the only thing that I could see as a much needed update right now was a new TV. The current ones are old - but the new ones are going to be 32" flat screen LCD's. I found the bed to be very nice and soft, my wife said it was hard - so who knows. I rested very nice which is hard to do not in my own bed. The room was very nice - we had a King. Everything you needed was there, even a couch. We were on the top floor - 5th. The hotel is near a runway for MSP - I494 still is inbetween the hotel and the airport so it's not really that close. Honestly we only heard the jets a few times when they were taking off - was no major issue with us. Landing jets there was no noise. We didn't check out the pool or the fitness room. We also didn't eat any food or stop in the bar for a drink. This seems to be the place that all the Delta Airline crews stay at. There was a mess of them checking in when we got there at 8:30-9pm. They were all nice and gone in the morning back on their planes. Overall I would be glad to bid and get this place again. This place is 3.5* all the way.
  5. I would book now and start low bidding for areas 1 & 2 on the PRICELINE website (of course use the betterbidding.com link) I have always gotten a hotel in this area for our x-mas shopping trip that we take. I don't think there are any 4* in this area but there are 3.5* and 3* which are as good as they get. I just booked a 3.5* for $50/night for the 1st week in Dec. I could have bid lower say around $40-45 and I bet I would have gotten it. The good thing is that you have time to do it so keep your high star rateing and start low bids and work up from there.
  6. Used the PRICELINE link through Betterbidding.com and put in a bid of $50/night for areas 1 & 2 with 4* rateing of the Minneapolis MN area. Offer was declined, added the 3.5* level and put in the same offer of $50/night. Offer was accepted!! Hotel information is below: Marriott Minneapolis Airport 3.5* Airport - Mall Of America 2020 American Boulevard East Bloomington, Minnesota 55425 2 night stay with taxes and fees comes to $121.32 - hotel website has the same rooms going for $99.99 per night. This hotel while it does say the airport is very close to the Mall of America and Ikea store. We have stayed in the same general area before and haven't noticed a issue with jets or anything like this. We are long time betterbidding users and priceline users. We will add info about the hotel after the stay.
  7. Just got back from the Luxor - stayed Sept. 28 08- Oct. 2 08. Got there and tried the $20 trick. I was told that it was not an option and that I could pay $20 for each night to be upgraded. This is where I went wrong. I should have taken it and then we would have had a better time. We paid $78/night after taxes and fees. This was my wife and I's second time at the Luxor - the first being in 2006 which we liked and enjoyed. We checked in and it was busy - long line that took about 15-20 minutes to go thru - not a big deal to me. We asked for a higher room in the pyramid when we couldn't score a free upgrade. I was told no problem, and got the 3rd floor! Our view was the BUTT of the sphinx that sits out front. They also hide lots of stuff behind it we found out, window cleaning stuff, ladders, 5 gallon buckets, brooms, etc. The room wasn't bad - no fitted sheets for the bed, light bulb that was burnt out. We got to sleep by 10pm Vegas time (midnight our home time) only to be woken up by maintenance telling us that there was a problem with our TV and that they were here to fix it. We told them no problem with the TV and then placed the do not disturb sign on the door. Next morning I went to the front desk and tried the $20 trick as it was slow and hoping to score anything with a better view. Same thing - a No but was told that they have been instructed NEVER to accept money as a tip and give out a free upgrade. I did get moved to the 15th floor with a much better view over the top of the sphinx. This room was no better then the last. The TV didn't work in this one, neither did the remote, called maintenance who came within 2 hours and "reset" the TV. The hot water handle in the bathroom - for the sink, came off in my hand when I turned it on, it appears that it needed a replacement as the threads were stripped out. I called maintenance again and explained the issue. It was still broken 3 days later when we checked out - never fixed. The carpet in our hallway was rippled in the center almost the entire way from our room to the elevator, which was a long walk. We had some other unforeseen things happen, airline destroyed our suitcase so bad that we had to purchase a new one to come home - I was told that it was a manufacturing error and not the airlines fault
  8. My wife and I stayed there 2 years ago and loved it. Do the IMAX movie - not sure what is playing but we did saw the one on the moon and NASA - very kool. The gaming was good but we couldn't find where lessons for some table games were being held. The buffett is okay - I would go to the Rio or MGM buffet next time for a change. A quick meal is the McDonalds on the second/third level. Don't waste your money at the Starbucks. Check in was fine. Our room had no view - okay I could see the maintance entrance but it was quiet and clean. The pool was nice - bring some sunglasses as the reflection off of THEHOTEL is bad. Overall 8 out of 10 for us. We will be going back 2 weeks after your trip - we liked it that much.
  9. Overall this hotel should be re-rated back down to a 2.5 The location is across from I494 and the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. It would be great for those needing to catch a flight because of the close relationship. You are able to hear the jets landing and taking off. The hotel does offer a free shuttel 24 hours a day to the airport and a free shuttle on the hour during day time hours to the Mall of America. Light rail station is only 3-4 blocks away, parking is free in the parking ramp which is connected to the hotel. The rooms are okay and that's why it should be lowered in it's star rating. The room we were in seemed cold all the time even with the heat on. The bathtub needed to be updated as it had a stopper that you physically had to put in to take a bath. The staff were very nice which made up for the short falls. The drinks in the bar were very high priced. I paid $5.00 per beer (Coors Light) while my wife paid $3.00 for a diet coke. The business center was a nice touch, free internet to get driving directions or to check email. They have a pool but we didn't use it. Overall would stay there again if I used priceline but would not stay there if I had not. Rooms went for $90+ I paid $50 per night.
  10. Put in a bid of $45 for the 3* area Minneapolis-St.Paul (Airport MSP - Mall of America) thru Priceline which was rejected. Put in a bid of $50 and it was accepted. 3* Holiday Inn Select Airport (Appletree Square) (previously 2.5*) We have done bids for the same area and have always gotten the 3* Sheraton Bloomington ($45-50) which my wife really likes to stay at. She was a little disapointed :) not to be staying that area which was the West end of the area - the Holiday Inn Select Airport is on the East end of the area. I'll post again to a review to let others know about airport noise as it's right across the interstate from MSP International. Only plus side is that we're only 1/2-1 mile from the Mall of America! :)
  11. I signed up for all the hotel's emails and their promo's. Still getting them every few days but landed the Luxor for $99 per night Feb 5-8 2007 per room (king size beds). Booked it as it can be cancled up to 48 hrs in advance. Came with a bunch of extras and 2 for 1's in the hotel. Still looking everyday for a better deal - but this has been the best for us right now.
  12. Honestly we were looking at sneeking our wives in. Our plan was to get a rental car from the airport and do the Hover Dam as our flight arrives at 1000am and most check-in's are not until mid afternoon. SO my buddy and I were going to check in and leave the wives in the car and then bring them in after check-in. Maybe it's just a Minnesota thing but we don't understand why an extra person espically in a double queen bed room cost $30 extra per night?!?! Your site is already added to my fav's as I use priceline often for short stays in the Twin Cities Metro area. Thanks
  13. Just double checked and it looks like this may be the Luxor. For that price I may as well just save the extra $30 and stay at the Excaliber. Let me know if you agree with my guess.
  14. Wife and I have bid for the same zone twice and got the Bloomington Sheraton both times. First in 2005 for $45 per night (stayed Friday and Saturday night in June) and Again in Nov. 0f 2006. Nov 06 we got it for $50.00 per night (Friday and Saturday) Got upgraded to a King each time without asking. Up on the 17th floor the 1st time and the 10th floor the second time. Rooms are very clean and nice. Beds were also nice. Nov. 06 was very busy, MN Wild Hockey was intown - which we went to, the MN Gophers were playing Iowa - I think everyone in the hotel was from Iowa. Also the MN Counties Ag Confrence was going on the same weekend. Only complaint was the 2nd time we were able to hear the couple in the next room having sex. Only thing I can say is that she was very vocal on where he should put it and how good he was doing her. Made me and my wife both have a good laugh! Well worth the free entertainment!!! Parking is easy and also driving right to the front door is easy. Well worth the $50 - normal rooms go for $100 per night - Kings more.
  15. We are looking for 1 room for all 3 nights. Amenities include: Resort, Fitness Center, Casino, Restaurant (s), Pool (s), Business Center, H/S Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services. Thanks for the help already. I rechecked and also found that TI and MGM may fit in this description and star level - however the price doesn't seem to fit as Hotwire is way lower than other sites. But that's the point of Hotwire - Right? Thanks
  16. Looking for a 4 star hotel on the strip 2/5/07-2/8/07. Found one thru Hotwire lists at $119 - retail for $175.67. Checking Expedia I found the MGM Grand lists at $175.67 per night. Is it safe to say that this is the same hotel? Let me know. We're looking for a hotel on the strip for about $120, good quality, splitting dates are not an option as the wives won't want to do it. Let me know if you can help.
