  1. First bid on Priceline was Arlington - GP only at $50 for 3 stars Second bid I added Arlington South (which has no 3 star hotels) at $52 From research on this site, I knew I should either win Hilton or Wyndham. I was not familiar with Sheraton being in Arlington when I won the bid, but my research has shown it's the former Wyndham, right by the Texas Rangers baseball stadium. Apparently Sheraton bought the Wyndham. Retail on Sheraton's site for the night I purchased is $150. Thanks again Betterbidding.
  2. I stayed here a year ago, 1st Saturday of December on weekend of SEC title football game and was given a normal room, King bed, bathroom with separate shower and bath that was one of the nicest I've seen. I'll be curious to hear if others report getting handicapped or double bed rooms as I am potentially going back for the SEC game again this December and want this hotel, if I have a reasonable chance at a king bed.
  3. Having seen Cybergal's post of winning this hotel on exact same dates for same price, I was able to bid with 99.9% confidence that this would be the exact hotel I would get on Hotwire that I am very pleased with: 3.5* DC (White House-Capitol Hill) Embassy Suites Convention Center - $113 - 10/25-10/28 Embassy Suites DC Convention Center 900 10th St. NW Washington, District of Columbia 20001 Price: $113 per night Amenities: Complementary breakfast, pool, business center, high speed internet access, fitness center, restaurant, laundry facility If it hadn't been for the certainty of this hotel (which I love for free "real" breakfast, not a roll that can be used for a baseball, and free cocktails at happy hour) I would have been bidding on Priceline in the $100 range for a 4 star, but this is perfect for the plan I have in town. Thanks again.
  4. Original bid, $75 for 4 stars downtown only, rejected, 2nd bit $80 added airport..rejected, winning offer $85 added City Line. Was surprised (pleasantly) at getting this hotel as most others on here seem to have needed to bid $100 or more to get the Hyatt.
  5. After winning the Hyatt Suites one day earlier for $38 (and not taking two nights due to uncertaintly of travel plans) I bid in $36 (greedy I know) for Marietta zone only for 3 stars. Shot down by priceline, however, they came back that if I bid $10 higher, I could rebid immediately for the same zone (I was bidding on the day I was going to check in). I bid $46 and won the Marriott in NW Atlanta/Marietta. Once again, its flat out sick (in a great way) that I paid less than $50 per night for the hotels I got on trip. This board easily saved me $40 as I would not have paid retail, but using Hotwire I would have paid roughly $20 per night higher for same or similar hotels. So once again, thanks betterbidding...and once again, I did use the savingsbarn.com site to get to Priceline.
  6. Boom baby! My first time to use Priceline. Thanks to this site, I noticed that many hotels in Atlanta go for $20 lower on Priceline than Hotwire. Saw what I am 99% sure is this hotel on Hotwire for $59 and retail for $89. I was hoping to get this hotel or Sherton Suites. This website rocks! And I even went thru the Savings Barn link to get to Priceline. My first and only bid was $38 for Marietta zone only.
  7. Made my first attempt at getting Venetian on Priceline for $200 or less. Started bidding at $160 per night and got to $200 with multiple zones and got shot down. I don't have real high hopes but I will keep bidding each night. Just for my peace of mind, do I recall that I am safe to add every zone in Las Vegas as only the Venetian has ever come up as a 5 star hotel in Vegas for any of the zones?
  8. Personally, (and my experience is only thru walking thru hotel, not staying there) this hotel appears to be very family/kid oriented. This is great if you have kids in tow. If you are like me though, when I go to Vegas, I don't want to be stumbling over kids so I avoid this hotel, even if the price is right.
  9. A bit dated, but I want to put this on here for others shopping. Got the Hotel Intercontinental in Buckhead on Saturday December 2nd, 2006, for one night (the night of SEC football title game in town) for $85 on Hotwire. The hotel room was very classy and I hope to nail this place again on Hotwire in the future. It's listed as 4 stars with the following amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center It's not listed on Hotwire, but the room had high speed internet for a fee.
  10. Thanks for the help. Like you, I believe my odds are slim, but I will give it a shot. If I don't get Venetian on Priceline, I will most likely just keep my Harrah's direct reservation since there are so many 4 star hotels and I would just assume stay at Harrah's if I don't get the Venetian. I will let you know my results, successful or not, on getting the Venetian, and where I max out on priceline on the bid if unsuccessful.
  11. Dallas Park Cities trip never ended up happening, partially because of uncertainty of hotel price. I added the same comment in the original thread. Whether I get the Venetian or not in my attempts, I will reply here with the final outcome once complete (which may be for a month from now as I may wait til closer to the time of my stay to start bidding depending on the advice I get on here for optimal timing of bidding relative to dates of stay.
  12. Partially because of the uncertainty of the hotel we would get and for some other reasons, this trip never happened. Therefore I have no finalization to what hotel we would have gotten.
  13. First let me say I love this site. I intend to use it to get a room in Vegas either thru Hotwire or Priceline for the dates listed. Currently, directly thru Harrahs, I have a room there for for $120 on Thurs and $220 on Friday. Like a golfer, I want to improve my lie, and my room at Harrah's is fully cancellable with no fees. My budget is close to an average of $150 - $175 for the two nights for a four star, however, for the 5 star Venetian, I would pay up to $215 per night. My question is do you think I even have a shot at getting it for that much if they are currently asking over $400 directly. Also, if I do bid on the Venetian, how far in advance or close to travel date should I make my Priceline bid to give me highest chance of them biting on a $200 bid? Thanks.
  14. 12/19-12/20 Dallas Park Cities 4 stars $119 per night Airport shuttle, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center and high speed internet. I am hoping its Hilton Park Cities (3.5 stars on Expedia) that is $199 thru Hilton that night. Does anyone know if this is correct?
