  1. This is a great hotel I have won several times here. Subway stop right on the corner.
  2. Just thought I would pass on a post mortem here. Hotwire did indeed step up and pay the $899 difference between the retail rate of The Muse and the $223 I had already paid when booking the Iroquois. My stay at The Muse was fantastic (especially for $74 per night all in). One nugget of information though for anyone else that gets in this situation, once Hotwire books the new hotel you pick, there is no changing new reservation to a different hotel. I was trying to get Hotwire to change my reservation to the Eventi (also in the Kimpton hotel chain like The Muse) at a cheaper price that The Muse (but more preferable location for me). I made several calls, even with a Hotwire supervisor, essentially asking them to credit my account back the $899 Hotwire dollars and instead use them on Eventi and that Hotwire could even have back the reduced amount of Hotwire dollars needed (so a win for both sides). They just kept repeating their policy that once the replacement reservation was made, there was no getting the Hotwire dollars back (even though The Muse policy showed that the reservation could be cancelled within 24 hours with no penalty). When I called the hotel chain to fight this fight, they mentioned the reservation was via Expedia, and same when I checked in, so that may have further muddied the waters if Hotwire used Expedia to book the new reservation. No dissatisfaction here as The Muse was great. I was just surprised Hotwire wouldn't take my offer to save them some money to book a slightly cheaper hotel and let them keep the remaining Hotwire dollars.
  3. Ok it took several phone calls to Hotwire customer service (which for this process never went fast (no roadblocks, just slow). Multiple calls was so I could do some research on the hotels I found out were my options to pick from. When it was all said and done, I got The Muse, a great hotel I have wanted to check out. And I got to know the name of the hotel as the replacement as part of this process, so there was no guesswork. Bottom line, Hotwire refunded my original 3 day total of $223 and then charged me $223 for the new reservation at the Muse and then Hotwire paid the difference (over $800) to cover the difference since. Hotwire paid The Muse their retail rate. The Iroquois reservation was Hotwire's mistake. Clearly my best deal ever on Hotwire. All told, I get The Muse for $56 per night ($74 per night after taxes and fees). I will happily take it and pick up a free 1 hour wine reception each night in the process at the Muse that the Iroquois didn't have.
  4. Similar to another poster about a hotel with smoking good rate for a central park south property (same owner possibly?), I also received the email this morning that hotel can't fill the reservation and Hotwire will either help me find similar hotel (at no additional cost) or $25 hotwire dollars. As the hotels are going for around $200 per night x 3 nights = $600 compared to 25 hot dollars, I am definitely going to work to see what hotel options they present at no additional cost to me. I will let you know how this plays out. This does make me wonder if Hotwire messed up in the rate they posted that I grabbed rather than the hotel posting the price (as I would think if it was the hotel that entered the data, they would have to live up to it (as there are rooms available on the hotel site for my dates).
  5. Yes last year. Love getting this property. Pet Friendly Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restauarnts Business Center Self Service Laundry Internet Access
  6. A bit late in posting I know. I have gotten this property several times in past year for low rates, but only on day of reservation starting. They seem to hold out til last minute. Pet Friendly Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Self Service Laundry Internet Access
  7. Clearly a fat finger (or lack of finger) by someone entering the hotel rates into Hotwire as I have been watching these dates for weeks now and only seen $200 per night or higher for 3 stars or higher. But like a prior poster, I caught a $56 rate for 3 nights, 5/13-5/16. From this board I figured out the hotel was The Iroquois. The rate was so ridiculously good, I kept double checking zone, city, dates to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious. Anyway, I booked it and it went thru. About an hour later, the staffer must have figure things out as the rate shot way back up. I only needed the room for two nights, but for the cheap price, I added extra day essentially to give myself option of a very late checkout. Amenities listed: Free Internet Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Internet Access Bottom line: Home Run!!!!
  8. I watching this as well and very curious to find out as the Hotwire rates are really good for this location for 3.5 star hotel. My personal speculation is that it could be the Residence Inn that used to be the Il Lugano (and I am thinking the Residence Inn data on this site is simply the old Il Lugano data). I am hoping there will be a report of someone grabbing this place soon to identify the hotel. I am going for 4 nights in October and might book one night at this place to see what it is, and then book separately the final 3 nights if the hotel is a good one.
  9. $103 + 32 tax and fees = $135 Even with them charging $15 for internet access in room, all in total of $150 is smoking good deal for this location. Been watching for two weeks on Hotwire. This location started for this night at over $200, then $160, then $140 where I almost took the bait. But then at $103 in Manhattan, no way I could wait any longer and regret it if price had shot back up. 10. I was thrilled to see this hotel on Hotwire at long last. I have been to Ft Lauderdale twice a year for several years and never see this hotel on the site (or what I think in the hotel). A recent reported win before mine gave me HIGH confidence in selecting the property on Hotwire. Amenities listed were: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf
  11. This is fantastic insight! I have been to Fort Lauderdale several times over the last 3 years and have never seen what I believed to be the Embassy Suites on Hotwire, and no recent reported wins on this site of the hotel until now. I am looking for next weekend and the hotel is there fore the same price and I am about to snag it (and yes I will use the HOTWIRE link from this board and properly report the win when complete). Thanks so much for this information! All of the good hotels on beach are at least $150 on Hotwire, $200 direct on the weekend I am seeking. For $96, free breakfast buffet (real breakfast)and free happy hour, this is a steal being so close by to the beach area! This is what this site is all about and why I report all my wins too.
  12. With all the wins on this board for the Palazzo, I am just curious to see if anyone knows whether the $17 per night resort fee is already paid for as part of the bid on Priceline, or if it is above and beyond the amount one pays on Priceline. I have stayed at different resorts via Priceline where sometimes the Resort fee was inclusive of priceline bid, and other times it is separate. Just trying to get the facts. Thanks in advance to anyone that knows for sure that reports back on here.
  13. My bad on not distinquishing which Marriott. It was the Marriott Plaza. Its the one that is not directly on the riverwalk like the other two Marriott's. Its about a 3 block walk (not a bad walk at all) to the Riverwalk.
  14. For the price, this hotel is great. I checked and on the Marriott web site it was $179 for the same period (and I booked it on PRICELINE the day of staying at the hotel). No different than most 4* hotels on or near Riverwalk, factor in the the parking is $21 and wireless internet in room is $13. Rooms are good and only 2 blocks from Riverwalk.
  15. I have been looking for the same weekend and wish I had committed several weeks ago as ALL of the hotels have had a run up in prices for that weekend of the last 7-10 days. Both direct and on HOTWIRE, I am seeing rooms go up $50 to $100 increase. Trump was going for $100 a week ago and now closer to $200 on HOTWIRE. At this point, keep a backup and keep watching in case room prices come down closer to those dates. The only reason I can foresee the room prices ran up is that is opening NFL weekend and maybe lots of people wanted to be in Vegas to make their wagers in person.
  16. After messing up a priceline bid and getting a hotel in area of town I didnt want, I went cheap here and stayed at this hotel to be close to the hockey arena as I was attending the game. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again, but the price was cheap enough I can't gripe to much. With this board and HOTWIRE, with high confidence, I knew this would be hotel I would get when using Hotwire. Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness
  17. I was actually bidding trying to get a 3.5 or 4 star downtown and accidentally put the Druid Hills/Emory Zone in on a re-bid and got this hotel. Great price I am sure for the property but not the part of town I needed to be in. I sucked it up and re-booked another hotel. Priceline offered a $25 fee to cancel given my circumstances and would apply the $44 towards a future purchase. Bottom line is be very careful when re-bidding. I had listed this zone out as one to use as a re bid only if I was bidding on a 4 star and mistakenly used it when bidding on a 3.5 star. I figured it was worth reporting here though in the spriit of information exchange for future bidders. :) And let the record show, I used the PRICELINE link on this website.
  18. Home run here. Using the PRICELINE link in Betterbidding (of course), started at $42 for Buckhead zone, 4 stars. Added $1-2 per rebid per zone, took about 10 zones added before hitting on $54. Sets a new low price for this property compared to other recent wins in the $65-$70 price range. Also is giving me the opportunity to stay one more night at same price.
  19. See prior Priceline Winning Bid posting. Bid morning of my stay starting at $51 and worked my way up to $61. Was very happy with this win. Hotel let me stay in my same room two even though it was two separate reservations for each night.
  20. Had been bidding for several days starting at $45 up to $55 or so with multiple zones and never got accepted. Morning of my stay, I cut to the chase and bid $61 and got this hotel which I was hoping for this one or the Renaissance so it worked out well. Did the same the the morning of my second night in the next posting and started at $51, got message if I added $14 to bid immediately I could rebid same zone. I declined and added $2 per bid while adding zones and got picked up at $61 again. Of course, I used the betterbidding link to PRICELINE to start each time.
  21. Was trying to get this for around $45 since the Westin was $86 and Hilton was $99 on their websites. Using the PRICELINE link from this site: First bid was $42. Rejected. I added zones with no 4 star hotels and added $3 per bid. At $56 I was accepted on what was probably my 6th or 7th bid. Nice hotel. Parking was $12.
  22. First bid $36, rejected Second bid, added a zone with no 3 stars and won on bid of $36. I've stayed here before thru Priceline so I knew I could get this place in the mid $30s. Great hotel as all rooms are suites. Great restaurants nearby too. Hotel now charges $6 for self parking. Used to be free. Not griping based on rate I got, just presenting the facts.
  23. I can vouch that in Atlanta, for several hotels in Buckhead and now Marietta, PRICELINE runs about $20 cheaper per night.
  24. Bid in $65 for resort only for Scottsdale, rejected Increased to $70 and picked 4 stars also, rejected Added West PHX as a zone and $75 and won this hotel. I was a bit nervous when winning this bid as there are very mixed reviews of the hotel on TripAdvisor.com. The grounds are impeccable, however, the rooms could use a facelift. The internet needs a cable (not wireless, I know I am spoiled), the rooms are not bad, just need some improvement. I'm also used to Marriotts, Sheraton's, Hilton's, etc, so my standards are pretty high. I will say the room was big (I had one of the larger standard rooms with two double beds) and a king bed would have been preferred, however, that is a known risk using Priceline, so I can't gripe too much about that. One really nice part of the Priceline bid that is not obvious in the details is that it is inclusive of a $15 "resort" fee the hotel charges guests above the room rate. So that is a savings as well. Unfortunately that rate fee does not include the internet which was $10 per night. Overall I would give the hotel staff, grounds and lobby 4 stars, but the rooms themselves either 3 or 3.5 stars. Since most hotels in the area were going for $200 per night, I can't complain (even though I did above).
  25. Was ok hotel. Overpaid by hotwire standards since it appears most the hotels in the area were sold out as I was unsuccessful with $40 to $55 bids on 3 star hotels on Priceline in same area. I've stayed at much better for cheaper on HOTWIRE, but it served the purpose. The place was clean and nice and had free internet. Amenities Listed on Hotwire: Continental Breakfast Fitness Center Pool Business Center Laundry Facility And I used savingsbarn link.
