  1. bagolady, Thanks for your post. With it I was pretty certain the Sheraton was available at 108 for Nov 3. I was about to take it at 108 but made one last priceline bid at 98 and got the Sheraton anyhow.
  2. Bid 75, 80, 91, and 98 over two days. Believed Sheraton property was available at 108 using express deals. Bid accepted at $98+ and $114 all in. Thanks for the help and info I get from this board. I used the Priceline link to start my bidding.
  3. Bid at $64 -- all in at 81. Thanks for the info on the site. I used the PRICELINE links provided to make my bid. Earlier bids of 55 and 60 failed.
  4. Thanks for the post. Was trying FLL Beach and Hollywood at 4*s but at $65 / night this looks to be good value. I had already reached $100 / night and wasn't sure what I was going to do. Have a good cruise. We're on the Navigator. Royal caribbean has 2 other ships sailing on the 14th. I don't know what the other lines have.
  5. Another cruise-goer. Thanks to a previous poster I tried to match the Sheraton Suites at $65. Got it at $69 for the same two nights. That's $81 / night includig taxes and fees. Made use of the handy PRICELINE link at the top of the page. Thanks.
  6. Of course. The link to PRICELINE at the top of the page works pretty well for me. I use it for the initial bids and when I need to reset I close the Priceline browser and reuse the link at the top of this page which already has the dates and city specified. Thanks for the info shared at this site.
  7. Not nearly as good as the King Eddy at $58 for the same weekend in 2008 or the Sheraton Centre at $76 in 2009. Nevertheless at $100 all in at the Sheraton is pretty good. Started bidding at $50 and increased bids till securing at $82.
  8. After several bid attempts over 4 days starting at $65 got the Nh for $76 plus tax, or $90 all in. Thanks to this site and the easy access link to PRICELINE.com.
  9. Thanks for the info shared on this site. Got another great rate in Europe. This time in Munich. Started bidding with the convenient PRICELINE link at this site. Might have started lower but really didn't expect to find a room in Munich at $60 Bid 4*s at $60, City North Zone --- accepted. All in rate of $69.
  10. Like others that have posted here and thanks to them for making this site very useful, I scored the 5* InterContinental Athenaeum at $80 / night. All in at $92 /night. June 21-23. Used the convenient PRICELINE link at the top of the page. Thanks for the info.
  11. Thanks for your help. I continued working this reservation making use of the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links at the top f this page. The Hotwire option previously noted disappeared a day or two after I posted but before I reached a comparable price point using Priceline. Bidding over the last week or so went something like this... 107 xxx 112 xxx 116 xxx 119 xxx 120 xxx 124 xxx 126 xxx (+ 22 offer) 128 xxx 127 xxx (+ 22 offer) 130 Accepted $130 * 3 + taxes/fees = $452.76 Marriott Kauai Resort3610 Rice St Kalapaki Beach Lihue, HI 96766 808-245-5050
  12. Priceline for Lihue isn't going too well. Trying to avoid the Sheraton. Tried bids through $119 / night with no results. Here's a Hotwire option. Any ideas? 4* Hotel in Lihue - Kapaa Resort Beachfront Smoke Free Rooms Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Spa Services Children's Activity Program If it is the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort, it is leaving the Hilton Family as of 1/1/2010. Should this be of concern? Have flexible reservation at the Hilton at $170 including breakfast.
  13. Thanks for your comments. Our curling team stayed at the King Edward last year, same weekend as we got out before the parade began. I guess we better find out its new route so that we don't get stuck or at least plan for sticking around. $58+ for the night at the King Eddie was a steal. Great tip about the parking. I had planned to do just that.
  14. Not the greatest deal based on excellent past experience in the Toronto market but a very good value, all things considered. 2 Rooms requested. Used the convenient link above to get started. Thanks to others who've posted. While past performance is not guaranteed it provides a nice yardstick for what to expect. With lots of rebid zones I started at $50 / night and increased bids by $2 increments. At $70, offer to rebid at +$22. Then increased bids by $1 increments. Bid accepted at $76 + $14.59 (taxes/fees). Thanks.
  15. Mvbentley, Thanks for posting. I have a trip planned for January in Kauai and haven't gotten around to looking for a hotel yet. Have a nice trip.
  16. Armed with info from previous posters at BetterBidding.com and with an ample supply of rebid zones I worked my way from $40. 4*s at 40, 44, 48, 50 -- Rejected. 3.5*s at 40, 44 -- Rejected. 4*s at 52 -- Rejected. 4*s at $54 -- Accepted. $54 + $15.50: $69.50 Hyat Regency San francisco Airport Started all my bids from the PRICELINE link above. Thanks
  17. I bailed on Priceline just before bidding at the $70 level. First there was the Novotel special and then the last -- minute australia site that allowed me to get the Holiday Inn at Potts Point for US$85 (AUD $105) all in for 2 nights. Hotel description: "Secret Hotels Deal: 4* Hotel in Sydney ~ 1 stop to the city ! Overview Sydney,NSW. Right amongst action and entertainment, this hotel is close enough to the city if you feel like a nice walk but only 1 train stop away to the CBD." Thanks though for the info on this site. I used the convenient link to PRICELINE at the top of this page for those earlier bids. I still have to Priceline a 1 night room at SFO. I'll start a new thread when I get started.
  18. OK, I'm just about at the $70 rate and figure I can get the Sydney Marriott at $76+ / night. I now also have an option to stay at any of several Novotel offerings in the area at about the same price. I've had mixed results with Novotel from very nice but not cheap at the BKK airport to average but value priced in Hong Kong. Any thoughts?
  19. Thanks for the notes. I'll probably end up exactly as described. I'll post status along the way.
  20. I have some time yet. Hoping for about $60. We'll see.
  21. With time on my side and lots of rebids available I decided to bid conservatively. I guess I'm going back for wine tasting though I suspect the fireplace won't be nearly as cozy in May as it was in January. Expected the Edgewater and bid as follows... $65 -> Request Rebid at $82 $68 -> Rejected. $71 -> Rejected. $73 -> Rejected. $74 -> Accepted. $74 * 2 = $148 + 30 (taxes/fees) = $178 for 2 nights. Thanks for the info shared on this site. I used the convenient PRICELINE link at the top of the page to get started.
  22. Needed a room in Orlando for my Brother 3/15-21. Bid 4*s with lots of rebid zones. Bid $65, 70, 74, 76, 78, 80, and 82. All in at $570 82 * 6 + 78 taxes/fees. Used the convenient PRICELINE link at the top of the page. Also noticed that HOTWIRE had a 4.5* hotel at $99 night. I thought it might be the Omni Resort but did not pursue it. It is also odd that my confirmation sheet notes the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress as a Resort but my account listing of previous bids shows 4*s. Perhaps it was that I was bidding 4*s but got a Resort. Hope this helps.
  23. Mr. Pig, Thanks for the update. I'll have to see if my friend wants a cheaper hotel at the airport or the more expensive hotel (Howard Johnson) in Old San Juan near us. Looks like a difference of $40 for the night. Then again if he plans to cab over to Old San Juan anyway. I'll let him figure it out. Will you be on the Serenade as well? I'm looking forward to getting out of the cold.
  24. I tried another set of bids at 3.5*s without success. I bid through $135 for 1 night arriving 3/6. At $135 and with the taxes I am now at the same rate I have at the Howard Johnson --- $165 ai. I might consider continuing with bids and ideally I would get the Sheraton Old San Juan. But here's the problem. The Sheraton Old San Juan and the Howard Johnson in Old San Juan are both showing that they are sold out for the night. Perhaps the best plan for me is to sit and wait till rooms become available. I believe the Sheraton has a 3 day cancellation window. Maybe rooms will open then. The cancellation window at the Howard Johnson is 2 days.
  25. I bid from $80 through $116 at 3.5* and reached my maximum rebids for the day. We both might want to consider our options at 3*s. Remember if you go this route your rebid zones are much more limited. You'll get 2 rebid zones allowing for a max of 4 bids in 24 hours. I'll have to review what I think are the probable 3* hotels in the San Juan zone and then decide what premium I'm willing to pay to get one of the 3.5* hotels. Presumably I'd star back at $80 for the 3*s. Thereuare, I'll start my own post shortly. I'm out of town and may not post again till next week.
