  1. So sorry. I did't finally book with Priceline, I tried various times but my bids were rejected. I booked Hotwire last time (via this site) and got the Omni. I have always booked via this site. I had been looking back in April again but have not yet booked for my upcoming trip in July this year. I was wondering whether the offer from Hotwire I asked yesterday was the James and, if so, what was your advice. So sorry, once again, that I did not round up my previous queries. Should I have placed my latest question (from yesterday) as a follow up to my question back in April? If so, I will do so next time. Thank you very much for your wonderful advice, always, Santillan
  2. Could you pls help ID this hotel? 4.5* MagMile Streeterville Amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Price: 107 USD (total price 129.50) Best Value Trip Advisor: 4 out of 5 stars (reviewed in May 09) Dates: 22 July, one night Could this be the James Hotel? And if so, do you know it - any advice? Thank you so much. Santillan
  3. Date: 22 July, (one night) Hotwire price: USD 143.- Best Value Amenities: Gym, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry facilities, High-speed Internet, Spa Stars: 4.5 Could you help me identify which hotel this might be? I'd like to stay very close to North Michigan Ave. Many thanks, Santillan
  4. Thank you so much. Indeed it was the Omni. I have not stayed at this hotel before. Any comments? (Should I try to request a particular section of the hotel, etc.?) I know it's in a great area (and it's the hotel Oprah guests stay at). Of course I booked via your HOTWIRE link. Santillan

  6. Which hotel could this be? Date: 13 January 2009 (one night only) Price: USD 119.- Amenities: Suite, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Customer Favourite, Best Value Trip Advisor rating: 4 stars Many thanks in advance, Santillan
  7. I hadn't thought of it that way, thank you so much for the advice, especially since it will be summer, so there's more people about in the streets in the evening, which is the bit that worries me. It really makes sense if it's so close to the other side of the water. In that case I am going to go for it and offer 59 dollars. Will let you know what happens. Thank you again. By the way, what I am thinking of doing is a totally separate bit for the Loop alone for that amount. I hope I'm not messing it up now. If rejected, I will wait a few days and do the whole thing again but then just for the MagMile only.
  8. I read the whole rebidding link and I get the stuff about checking each zone, etc. The thing is that I only want to stay in the MagMile zone so that strategy doesn't apply to me this time. I rebid 110 and was turned down again. To rebid I did click the link in this board. What I don't understand is this: if I click the link here, it starts a new procedure altogether it seems to me, i.e. it looks to me not as a rebid (where I would change something) but as a first time bid each time. To follow the rule about bidding every 24 hours, do I also do so by clicking the link here? In any case, I was rejected and I wonder what to do now? Continue bidding up (which I'd rather not), or wait and see what happens, say, in a few days (or even just wait and see whether Hotwire prices change)?
  9. Hi again, I just bid 105 and was rejected again. May be the 99 to 105 jump was indeed too miserly .... One question: do I keep on going to the same bid or do I start the whole thing again? What I did this time was go to the email I received from Priceline when they rejected my 99 offer and opened it with 'check your status' and then I bid 105 on the page that opened. They requested that I either change something or bid higher. Then, I tried to bid 110,- but couldn't. I guess I need to wait 24 hours, do I? When does one (if at all), start the whole thing again? what if, say, next week I tried again with 100 or 105 or 110? Their availabilities change all the time, don't they? Again: I've plenty of time, so I am not in a panic yet. Thank you for your help. Santillan
  10. Oooooohhhhh, just tried it. I bid 99 and was rejected. Then it asked me to change something, which I didn't and just exited the page. I will try again tomorrow. Of course of course I used the PRICELINE link. What about tomorrow? 105 or 110? This is exciting stuff. Santillan
  11. I did see the $59.- Hyatt one and it did make me wonder. However, due to the fact that I am a woman and will be on my own, I would prefer to be in the area of the MagMile so that I feel comfortable to go out for dinner in the evening and where I can feel safe with people around (plus close to the shops -I just looooove walking into that Apple store). I love walking out of a hotel and having everything just there. I have been lucky enough to have been, via Hotwire, at the Intercontinental a couple of times and the Westin. From there it's great to walk to the Grand Lux Cafe or the Cheese Cake Factory which, to me, living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, are both great. That is the main reason why I want to be in that area. What is your advice to bid for that area, in view of the fact that there are 2 people who got the Conrad around those dates, one for 99 and the other one for 110? Of course I realise that it is far from certain that I would get the Conrad too, but may be another good hotel in that area?? How should I bid (also considering that I have plenty of time until my trip: 18 to 20 July)? Thank you, Santillan
  12. Thank you, Thereuare, for your reply. Yes, I understand that it might be another 4 star hotel. But would it be another 4 star as in the the Priceline Hotel List? I have checked the whole list and if the price is attractive, then any one of those would do (except perhaps for House of Blues and Sheraton about which I've read less than glowing reports). What I would not like would be to end up 'in the sticks', as it were. I have just 2 days in Chicago and I would love to be in the thick of it. I have checked Hotwire recently, but their prices go up and up and up... Could you give me tips on how to proceed with Priceline? Many thanks in advance, Santillan
  13. I have used HOTWIRE many times but this would be my very first time with PRICELINE. I need to know how to go about it. Dates: 07-18-08 to 07-20-08 Rooms: 1 Stars: 4 Area: North Michigan Avenue (Mag Mile Streeterville or Water Tower) Max. Price: 120.- I saw someone got the Conrad for 99.- around those dates. I do not want any other areas, i.e. no Loop, etc. How do I bid if I only want that one zone? I have time, so it's not as if I need my bid accepted immediateley or I would panic, so I could wait to try to get a good rate (the 99.- Conrad rate would be fab). Can you help me? Thank you, Santillan
  14. Could someone help ID this 4.5 star hotel in Chicago? Dates: 18 & 19 July Best Value Customer Favorite Price: 119 per night (you save 124) * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 out of 5 I am really curious to find out which hotel this could be since I do not see any 4.5 star one in the Hotwire listing. Could someone help? Many thanks, Santillan
  15. I went ahead and booked the Streeterville option: it was the Intercontinental. I am delighted. I have stayed there before having booked with Hotwire and it's always been superb. Now I have to book a couple of more nights later in July. 30 June: 92,- (113,- all in). I did book it via the HOTWIRE link in this site. Santillan
  16. I am wondering which hotels these two could be: Date: 30 June Option 1) MagMile Streeterville 4 star Customer Favorite Best Value Amenities: Fitness, Swimming Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High-speed Internet Price: 92 dollars (they mention retail 199). Option 2) Water Tower - Gold Coast 4 star Customer Favorite Best Value Amenities: Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, High-speed Internet Price: 132 Dollars (they mention retail 159) One question: is it recommendable to mention to Hotwire to 'watch this trip'? They say they would let me know when prices drop? (I need more nights later in July). Thank you so much in advance, Santillan
  17. I had been biding my time and it paid off: Customer Favourite Best Value Amenities: * Fitness Center * Pool(s) * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access 23 December, one night. 92 USD plus taxes. Hotel: Intercontinental. Santillan
  18. Yes, actually. This time the price is different and there is no mention of customer reviews which, when they appeared last time, were rather awful. Hence my doubt now. The bad reviews last time seemed to indicate the Knickerbocker Millenium. Since these have been removed, I was wondering whether Hotwire can now withdraw the comments (because they are so bad) or whether it could be a different hote. Thanks.
  19. Please help me identify these 2 hotels. Both are Best Value: Date: 23 December (1 night) 1) 4-star hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville USD 89.- * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access 2) 4-star hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast - USD 92.- * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access I would love to get the Westin or the Intercontinental. Any ideas? Thank you, Santillan
  20. I got the Intercontinental for the night of 10 January for 89 USD and I'm pleased as punch. I have read a lot about the hotel's two towers. Which one would you suggest I could try for upon arrival? The old or the new? Somehow I think the old must be nicer, but I'm not sure; may be someone could advise? Many thanks, Santillan
  21. Date: 23 December (1 night) 4 Stars. Best value As follows: 1) 4-star hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville This upscale establishment offers thoughtful features, quality rooms and a high level of service. See hotel details * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access Best Value : 89 USD or 2) 4-star hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast Customer rating: 3.2 out of 5 / 20 reviews. (MOST REVIEWS ARE AWFUL!!) It amazes me that it is still shown as a 4 star in Hotwire. Who can explain this? * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access Best Value: 79 USD Which hotels could these be? By the way, via Hotwire I got the Intercontinental for 88 USD for the night of 10 January. Hip Hip Hurrah. Santillan

See hotel details * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access Best Value : 89 USD or 4-star hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast Customer rating: 3.2 out of 5 | 20 reviews (MOST REVIEWS ARE AWFUL!!) * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-speed Internet Access Best Value: 79 USD Which hotels could these be? 24. South Beach, 16 to 22 August. Customer Favorite Best Value Amenities: Beachfront, fitness, pool(s), restaurant(s), high-speed internet Price: 113,- Finally I booked and it was the Royal Palm, which is good but I was almost sure it was going to be The National (I was soooo hoping), so I am a tiny bit disappointed. Still, not a bad price for a 4 star hotel, that's for sure. I booked via the HOTWIRE link from this site!!! (thereuare: I'm learning). Santillan
