  1. La Quinta Inn And Suites Wichita Airport Wichita Airport (ICT) 5500 West Kellogg Drive Wichita, Kansas 67209 316-943-2181 Check-In Date: Tue, Feb 23, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Thu, Feb 25, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $92.00 Taxes & Fees: $19.90 Total Charges*: $111.90 This was bid mixing 3 zones and 3* and 2.5* levels, progressed from $38 to $46 in 2 dollar increments. Learning the techniques for zone rebids that are posted on this site is worth your time to minimize your costs. I have been bidding priceline hotels for business travel for years using these techniques and saved a ton. Current best price I can find for this La Quinta via travel sites is $76+tax.
  2. You are right, it is still 3*. I bid 2.5 and the result in the "my trips" shows 2.5 but the details show they gave me a "free upgrade" to 3 stars for this bid. I typically bid 2.5 because some of the 3 star or higher places charge for internet which just adds a cost I can't justify on a small business budget. However Holiday Inn is not one of them.
  3. This stay is over but thought it was worth mentioning if you're bidding K.C. area. This is a decent place with a Green Mill Pizza restaurant inside. Older property but rooms have obviously been remodeled in the last few years, very comfortable. Maintenance was prompt when I had issues with the A/C unit. I ate at the restaurant a few times but found the food to be average. Hotel is very convenient to major freeways. I booked 7 nights then added 6 more at the same price using the Priceline extend your stay feature. Tax and fees for the 13 nights ran about 8/night.
  4. Am there now. Hotel has a waterpark, lots of kids around. Older property, there are two restaurants, a pub and a breakfast place. There is free continental breakfast but not much to write home about - they try to encourage you to buy breakfast instead. Staff has been accommodating and fixed problems like running toilet, noisy room (moved me). TV has a decent # of channels, more than a lot of places (I am in hotels 100+ nights/year for work). I have noticed in the last year that Priceline fees have gone up a bit, used to be $6-8/night in tax/fees, now tends to run more like $8-12 or more. Hope this wasn't too verbose! :)
  5. I just completed this stay but thought the info might be useful. Was bidding 2.5* for Midway area and was upgraded to 3*. Bid started at $48 and went up $4/day until it scored a hit.
  6. I Hotwired a hotel in Toledo Ohio today and decided not to take it. Later in the day Hotwire emailed me trying to get me to take it. It was 39 bucks a night for 5 nights, 195 dollars. But the price also had 199 dollars and change in "taxes recovery and fees." So the hotel which is being advertised on the same page(!) as "60/night, you save 21/night", would cost me nearly 80/night. I'm wondering if the double the difference would apply to the entire cost? It seems pretty shady to offer a hotel for 39/night and then add 40/night in "fees" and call it a deal while pricing it 30+% higher than the hotel itself would charge - how ridiculous! :)
