  1. Started from the PRICELINE link on Better Bidding page. Started at 70.00 for 3.5 star CA - Napa - Sonoma (Rohnert Park - Petaluma) then added 5.00 increments with rebid zones Sonoma, Napa North, Napa South then hit paydirt at 85.00. This is the hotel I really wanted and hope it will serve well as a base to tour Sonoma area.
  2. Booked on PRICELINE.com from Better Bidding site. Started at 90.00 for 4* added San Mateo at 4* at 95.00 then added 3.5* then went up to 100.00 but no deal. Added rebid zones Richmond, San Bruno and South San Francisco and won the bid at 115.00 per room x 3 = 345.00 + 64.59 (taxes and fees) = 409.59. Not bad considering the hotel lists for 180.00 advance purchase. Thanks to Better Bidding for good advice.
  3. Many thanks to the board for help in bidding for this trip. We were trying for something in Central London Mayfair/Soho, Kensington and nothing for 5* up to US$150.00 bid. Tried 4* and nothing up to US$95.00 for period including Bayswater and Westminster zones. Checked Expedia and they had a deal at Marriott West India Quay for US$121.00 per night plus taxes. Although not initially interested in that area upon doing some research it started to look very good. The hotel had good reviews and it is near transportation DLR rail and jubilee line. 3 rooms 3 nights = 900.00 taxes and fees = 156.93 total = 1056.93 As usual we bid using the PRICELINE link.
  4. 2 night stay 2 rooms first bid 45.00 excepted immediately! I was surprised as before i bid the site said avarage price for this class was $155.00 per night. Expedia has it for $102.00 per night. 2 rooms @ 45.00 2 nights = 180.00 + 31.08 taxes and fees Grand total $211.08 Can't beat that for two rooms two nights. Thanks for the help we bid using your PRICELINE link.
  5. That is good to know. Do you have any recommendations for restaurants in the vicinity and how was the hotel restaurant.
  6. Several days bidding with no success up to US$230.0 Even tried4* up to US$160.00 no success in Mayfair/Soho, Westminster, Marble Arch and Regents Park. Started 5* at US$200.00 received counter offer of US$240.00 Rebid US$210.00 adding Hammersmith - hit paydirt won Sofitel Saint James This looks like a great hotel in a fab location at an excellent price. I accessed PRICELINE from the link on betterbidding. Hope this is helpfull. I appreciate all the help I have received.
  7. I need 2 rooms for 5 nights wednesday through sunday in London. I wish a hotel in the Mayfair/Soho area. Will i have more of a chance breaking up the bid e.g. wednesday and thursday and then 3 nights on the weekend? I have accessed priceline via savingsbarn link and by adding rebid zones i started at 155.00 got up to US$205.00 per night but no deal so far. I am prepared to go as high as 220.00 before the fees. Thanks for any advice.
  8. Started bidding using the savings barn link. Was looking for 4 rooms for 2 nights. After several nights of not getting anything under $100.00 strted as follows: 100.00 downtown 4* no takers added Sorrento Mesa 110.00 no takers added San Ysidro 115.00 no takers added East County 120.00 no takers added North County Coastal 125.00 no takers added mission valley 130.00 no takers added Point Loma 135.00 accepted at Weston Horton Plaza 4 rooms @ 135.00 plus taxes and fees = 1223.96 This is good as most 4* hotels are quoting between 235.00 - 300.00 plus taxes. This time period also seems to be heavily booked as better prices are available earlier it would appear.
  9. Ratse are tough for this period. I bidded again through the Savings Barn Link and started at US$120.00 per night utilising the other 4 rebid zones available went 130.00, 140.00, 145.00 and finally 150.00!! No takers as yet. Just as a reminder I have been bidding for 3 rooms at the 4* level in downtown Vancouver
  10. Bid on 3* Hotel for August 11th for 1 night. First Bid Universal Studios/ Sea World Area $45.00 bid rejected 2nd bid added Winter Park as rebid zone (no 3* there) $48.00 Bid was succesfull received Wyndham Orlando Resort $48.00 Taxes/fees $13.66 Total $61.66 Reviews are mixed but best price I could get for same hotel with taxes etc was $90.00 on web.
  11. Thereuare, Thanks for the reassurance. As of yet i do not have a back up (confident that I will get something on priceline via the savingsbarn link). I have some time to wait it out or I may as you suggest go up another US$15.00 or so and see if I get through. The other strategy would be to bid much lower for a three star in the Richmond (airport area) and then rent a car to get around. Will keep you posted on the outcome. The prices do seem to be quite a bit steeper this year than last year?
  12. This will be a two night stay departing on the 14th.
  13. I have been bidding for approx 10 days utilising rebid zones with no 4* properties and have gone up to US$130.00 per night and no takers so far. Will kep trying hopefully I will not have to go over my US$130.00 per night self imposed ceiling. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. I am trying for three rooms.
  14. The exact wording: Retail Price $117.00 The retail rate displayed is the median of the lowest rates our participating hotels are offering to the general public for the travel dates you selected. These rates are based on the quality level you chose, the city, and the area you selected. These rates are recorded at the time of booking and do not include rates that are restricted to membership programs (such as AAA, AARP), Government rates, negotiated corporate rates, etc. Close Window
  15. Third Bid. 4* Hotel Mestre Region Sept. 16 & 17 2004 Price Bid $90.00 Bid rejected. Priceline advisory states that the lowest price their partners in this area are accepting is $117.00 Will keep trying without jumping to 117.00 just yet.
  16. The cheapest rate so far is 184.00 per night at Bestwestern Hotel Bologna. I added venice the second time just to get a second bid and to increase bid price did not expect that price to get 4* in Venice. Choice of mestre due more to Logistics than ambience of area. Understand it is easy to get to Venice proper by train from there. I need two nights 16th and 17th. Thanks Will Travel.
  17. I am trying to get a 4* Hotel in Venice Metsre region. My research shows four of these hotels in the shaded region on Priceline. The prices varied between US$140.00 to $190.00 for the 4 hotels. First Bid. 4* Hotel Mestre Region Sept. 16 & 17 2004 Price Bid $70.00 REJECTED 2nd Bid added Venice Island Bid $80.00 Still rejected I do not want to drop down to 3* as yet so I guess I wait and bid again in 3 days? This is a very helpful site. Thanks Thereuare. I saw your posts on cruisecritic. This is my maiden post on this site. Hope I am following protocol. Thanks.
