Very happy with The Roxy, it will be our first time staying there. 2. Just started bidding for a trip into NYC over Thanksgiving weekend. Started with Union Square & Tribeca Soho $165/night but was unsuccessful. I ended up adding Chelsea and bidding $175 and was successful with the Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan. I should wait until I get there before passing comment however, I'm surprised this one is a 4 star looking at pics of the lobby online. The location is good and we are excited to be in the city for Thanksgiving!
  3. Started looking for a hotel in NYC for this Fri, Sat & Sun nights, started at $150 for a 4 star and gradually increased the bid to end up with a win at $165 included zones - MTW, Times Sq, CPS, Chelsea, Union Sq/East Village, ESB, Hells Kitchen. The total cost of the three night say is $605.34 (room $495 + $86.94 Taxes + $23.40 Fees) We are happy with our win. We stay at Marriott's quite often on business trips so I'd expect a good standard for this hotel. Hope this info helps others bidding for the labor day weekend. Used the PRICELINE links on this site to bid.
  4. I had just started my bidding. Used the PRICELINE links on this site of course!. Didn't have to try to hard before the bid was accepted. I started with MTE $135 which was rejected so I just increased to $137 and added MTW - this was my winning bid. Very happy with the win. Great location.
  5. I thought this $120 bid was a long shot. I have to be in the city anyway on business so thought I'd extend my stay one night in the mid town area. First bid was successful, I bid $120 for one night, midtown East, midtown West & Times Square. Now if only I could be as lucky for Memorial weekend :) Almost forgot, once the bid was successful I was offered to extend the stay at the same price. I did try to extend the stay to include Saturday night however, the price offer then went up to about $250 for the Saturday night so I declined. Great deal for Friday night though.

  20. Started bidding about four days ago for a two night stay in Manhattan. We are meeting friends there on 9/15 & 9/16 and they are staying in midtown so tried to stick to that area. ALL BIDS REJECTED On 9/5 I bid from $115 to $120 for 4* only in MTW; MTE; TSq On 9/6 I bid from $118 to $127 for 4* + 3.5* adding zones along the way but ending up bidding MTW, MTE, TSq; ESB. I decided in the end to cash in some hotel loyalty points and will save my priceline bidding for a weekend when we want to head into the city. By the way, used betterbidding PRICELINE links to begin each bid. Thought I'd share our losses with the board in case it helps anyone with their bidding strategy. Good Luck!

  24. Thought I'd share my failed priceline bids for NYC Thanksgiving weekend - it may help others. I began bidding on Nov 4 and bid almost every day until Nov 13. I bid certain zones first but ended up including all zones. I was looking to stay Nov 23 & 24 (2 nights). Below are the dates I placed my priceline bids:- Nov 4 - 4* $150 all zones Nov 5 - 4* $160 all zones Nov 6 - 4* $175 all zones Nov 7 - 4* $195 all zones Nov 9 - 4* $210 all zones Nov 10 - 4* $220 all zones Nov 11 - 4* $230 all zones, 3* $150 all zones Nov 12 - 4* $240 all zones, 3* $160 all zones Nov 13 - 4* $250 all zones, 3* $170 all zones ALL OF THESE BIDS WERE REJECTED. So then I got to thinking and followed the Quikbook link from this site and ended up booking The Hotel on Rivington for $295 plus taxes per night. I felt that if I was going to continue bidding higher I'd like to know which hotel I would be staying at before hand. Anyway I'm looking forward to checking out the hotel on Rivington - I know the area, it may not be for everybody but we're going for the nightlife and of course more exploring of NYC.
  25. The week of November 6 I probably bid about three times for a 4* in NYC 11/24 & 11/25, the bid price was $150 bidding each zone except UES & UWS (I was leaving at least 24 hrs between each bid). All bids rejected. November 12th I bid for the 4* at $150 all zones except UES & UWS. Bid rejected. Increased the bid to $155 and added 3* along with the 4*. Bid Accepted. Bid won:- 3* Club Quarters Downtown Check in Fri Nov 24 check out Sun Nov 26, 2006. $155 per night $310 + $59.89 taxes = $369.89 for the two night stay. Mixed feelings about the hotel, I've read very mixed reviews. We really wanted to stay in the city for Thanksgiving weekend so I think we may have been a bit impatient with our bids and included the 3* before we'd incresed our bids on the 4*. I'll write a review of the hotel when we return from our trip. Still, it's a good deal for Thanksgiving weekend.
