My trip is not until September 2008, but I went to Priceline today to do some fishing. Started at $60 for 4 stars LAX & my first bid was accepted. I received to Westin for 1 night. I know some of the reviews have been negative about this hotel, but the price is very reasonable considering the on-line rate is $149. It appears this hotel does a lot of business with Priceline. I'm not expecting resort quality, but I hope for clean, comfortable & safe accommodations. :)
I think we want to be in the Central part of Rome within walking distance of the Coliseum. I'm not sure what our maximum bid is but probably up to $175.00. :)
I know I will be bidding for all 4 rooms in one shot, but I don't know how common it is and are the hotels usually willing to release 4 rooms through PL? My guess is it probably depends on their occupancy for this date. Just thought someone might know what my chances are for a successful bid. :)
The night we will be staying over in Rome is October 5th, 2006.
My husband & I are planning a trip to Rome in October 2006 with 3 other couples. We will be staying 1 night before leaving for a cruise. We would like to use PL to get 4 rooms at a 4* hotel. Are we more likely to get our bids accepted if we try to reserve 4 rooms or is it better to have less number of rooms? Also, does anyone think bidding $125 per room is a good place to start? How early do you think I should start bidding? thnks! :) Sue
I needed 2 rooms for 8/7/05 for 1 night for a girl's get-away. My first choice was the Tropicana but would be happy to accept the other choices. My first bid on Priceline was $80. It wasn't accepted but told me if I bid another $22 it would probably be accepted. Since my trip was only a week away, I decided to re-bid at $102. My bid was accepted by the Tropicana which I was delighted to get! Just got home last night & what a great time we had. We all felt the Tropicana was a wonderful place to stay. Our rooms were adjoining, 2 queen beds in the West tower on the 42nd floor. We had a view of the city and a side view of the beach & ocean! We could not get over how cheap our stay was.
This is my 3rd time using Priceline and I have never been disappointed. Of course, I do a lot of research first on the hotel choices & using this Board has been a tremendous help. Thanks for a great resource! :)
Thanks for your advice. It makes sense to check with the hotel before we get there. By the way, my neighbor who's cruising in July also bid $75.00 and won his bid for 2 rooms at this hotel. It must be a very slow time for them.
First, I tried for the San Juan zone, Resort with a $65.00 bid. It was rejected. I waited 72 hours and bid it again and was rejected. I wanted to bid again but it wasn't 72 hours, so I needed to add someting. I added the Dorado zone and increased my bid to $75.00. That's when it was accepted by the Hyatt. It is listed as a resort I was a little surprised since the date is 5 months away. Then I was a little nervous that the location would be too far. I love the look of the hotel, but I'm still a little unsure about the distance from San Juan. How much do you think the cab fare is?
Sue
I just bid $75.00 for 6/19/04 on Priceline and got the Hyatt Dorado Beach and Country Resort for pre-cruise stay! I also booked 2 rooms since I'm traveling with another couple. I think I did pretty good since the price for 1 night is $185.00 on their website, however I'm not sure how far this resort is from the cruise port! Any help out there? :) Thanks! Sue
Hi,
I'm new to this board, but it helped me to bid on Priceline today. My bid of $40.00 was accepted by the Sheraton for travel in September. The Sheraton web page states that rooms usually go for $85.00 and I was looking for 2 rooms. So I saved a lot of money. Plan to take a cruise out of Miami & heard good things about this hotel. I think I'm in love with Priceline and this website! :) :o :)

The exact date of my reservation is September 12, 2008. Thanks to everyone on this board for posting their bids. It was extremely helpful and reassuring when I started my bidding. I did a lot of research on the hotels listed on this site before I bid. This is my 4th reservation through Priceline and I have never been disappointed. I will definitely get familiar with Savings Barn next time I need a hotel. Happy bidding!
