  1. i would suggest you consider seacacus meadowlands in NJ, safe, locals just take the bus (NJ Transit), takes you from the door of most hotels there to Port Authority Bus Terminal (basically 42 st Station on the subway - blue line A/C/E). Cost is about US$2.85 each way (bargain!) little bit to lug your luggage but the locals are accomodating nonetheless and 20 min ride. Buses leave every 20 mins to 1am or so!
  2. All up $85 + $22.76 taxes and fees = US$107.76 didn't expect to pick up a 4* there. but hey, i'm happy. was hoping for hilton london olympia. Tried $72, $77, $80, no luck... adding the mayfair zone and flicking around dates - failed at all those rates for the 25-27 march. though i saw someone else got the hilton london olympia for $72.. ah well. now need to figure out a hotel in the docklands via priceline 4* (unsure how much to bid - failed at US$50, recommended price was US$162/night). have to wait to try again...
  3. should this be changed to USW in the subject line to clarify instead of USE as the Hilton is in USW.
  4. nothing in vegas that i'm aware of. i just didn't want to wait around for bidding, rather lock it away early and forget it. i did bid from $70 in $3-5 blocks after 72 hr waits, the last bid of $92 before bidding $95... and getting accepted.
  5. $535.82 including taxes for the 5 nights Westin Casuarina Las Vegas
  6. Your Offer Price: $105.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $38.34 Total Charges: $248.34 Initially started at $65, waited, $75, waited, $85, waited, $95, waited, $97, waited, then $105 was accepted. Was hoping for somewhere else, But Sheraton 4Pts, Doubletree, sold out. Holiday Inn at US$285 night, Marriott Marina Del Ray $189/night.
  7. Your Offer Price: $77.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $308.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $64.21 Total Charges: $372.21 Initially started at $65, then $69, then $75, failed, was counter offered + $22, upped it to $77 by adding in Mayfair/SOHO and won.
  8. Got the Toronto Westin Harbour Castle: US$70/night, initially bidded, $55, rejected, then up to $62 rejected, then upped it to $65 rejected, finally got it at $70: Your Offer Price: $70.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $280.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $34.80 (US dollars) Total Charges: $314.80 (US dollars)
  9. Initially bid $52/night, rejected, upped to $54/night after waiting 3 days. Total $259.81 for the 4 nights. Very happy with this, excellent brand new property according to tripadvisor reviews. Will post a priceline stay review after I return.
  10. Got this hotel, 4.5* Boutique, Restuarant, Fitness Centre only. $216/night + taxes!
  11. Initially bidded 3* at $65 and was rejected, but was countered by paying $17 more. Instead, waited 3 days and increased bid to $75 and was given this, a bit of a shock as I haven't seen this come up recently. Marriott Marina Del Rey $75 per night, 1 room, 2 nights Subtotal $150.00 Taxes and service fees $28.07 Total charges $178.07
  12. I would be very careful if just bidding 3* Santa Monica/Marina Del Ray as you could end up with the Holiday Inn or Sheraton 4 points, which have had quite bad reviews i've read on the net. Folks typically win these around $65/night plus taxes. Now I couldn't guarantee this, but based on what i've seen thus far if you bid about $75 per night plus taxes at least twice two of us have been successful on respective sites in advance at getting the doubletree guest suites. The way priceline works, the closest price to the hotel available will win. Therefore, if Holiday Inn Santa Monica is $63, and Doubletree Santa Monica is $74, both are 3* and you bid $65, you'll get the holiday inn. If you bid $75 you are likely to get the Doubletree and not the Holiday Inn. But I wouldn't add in West Hollywood and keep that bid seperate as it could confuse things if you don't want that area....??
  13. I think you may have been able to get this property for $65/night.
  14. 3/13-3/16 (3 nights) Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $225.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $40.30 Total Charges: $265.30
  15. I ended up getting a direct rate with Hilton Millenium (I know not in the right part of town, but for the miles, extra nights, and upgrade as a gold and free b/fast) for US$149/night + taxes for the 16 dec - 21 dec It's Superb and i'll be up in Times Square after that date, which is when X'mas and NY really turn themselves on.
  16. Hi, I know with PL I shouldn't be hotel specific, but i've just read the reviews of the Mansfield in MTW (3*), and i'd rather avoid even the likelihood of getting this property, so I've ruled it out. I've since found a more compelling alternative: 3 nights Hotwire 16-19 dec $107/night (likely to be the Radisson) 1 night through a travel consolidator (19-20 dec) $129/night 1 night through radisson's site $169/night averages out at $123/night... Anything else smarter to do?
  17. Hi, Just another followup, i've now bid the following for 16-21 Dec: 1) 2.5* MTE, bid up to $105. (I also bid up to HKD$880 on priceline.com.hk - US$112) no luck 2) 4* MTE, bid up to $118 no luck 3) 4* MTW, bid up to $121 no luck 4) 3* MTW, bid up to $87 no luck Am considering my options: 1) I can get 3 nights 16,17,18 for $107 at the Radisson, then 19,20 for $169 at the Radisson (effective $131 per night plus taxes); or 2) Bid up to 4* for $131 if I really have to in these locations (MTE, MTW); or 3) Bidding more on 3* MTW - ideas? What do you suggest I do? What other options are there outside of PL and Hotwire?? kawoh
  18. Hi, I made all those bids (4* MTW - actually went up to $105 and 3* MTE - actually went up to $100) without any luck. The $98 hotwire rate is now gone.. up to $156/night now... any idea on what I should do now?
  19. Well... they offered to let me continue my stay there for only $119 a night. Not such a bad deal afterall!
  20. I'm a slow learner, I know.. and I should listen more, I know... but i'm glad i'm not in the same position AG was! De ja vu - I was in the same position about 2 months ago in NY... in the Radisson Lexington... 12pm, they're knocking, they want me out of the room... im in priceilne fingers crossed, hoping to win a hotel room....! Meanwhile... priceline says "ummm we'll need 15 minutes to get back to you"... oh no!!!!!!!!!
  21. Hahaha... well i'll be in big trouble, but based on all the facts, it MUST be the Sheraton NY!
  22. Hi, For the 26 Dec, 1 night, i've done a search on Hotwire and come up with the following: 4*, restaurant, fitness, business centre, customer favourite Below is what was featured on the Hotwire list of hotels on better bidding: 4* Sheraton New York Customer Favorite Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Business Center (vacation product no longer showing internet, so may or may not be listed) And it's only $129 per night, do you think I should go ahead and bid on this property ? I will save myself about US$50 instead of using the Hilton NY reservation... thoughts? too risky?
  23. Hi, Thanks for the tips, i've managed to lock in the Hilton Towers NY directly on hilton.com for $179 for the 26 Dec for 1 night. So that end is sown up. I should have listened, but unfortunately the SPG 5 nights was a nights and flights award so i'd be wasting it with any less than 4 nights IMHO. I don't mind the move, but i've just been told from my partner that the idea of moving twice isn't so great! Perhaps even MTE could be out... I'll need to check tonight to see how I go on the homefront!! The other choice is to somehow find a rate where i can be pretty sure of getting the Hilton NY Towers from the 16-21 Dec, which as we know is no guarantee on PL... you bid for location, price and dates, not the room!
  24. 21 Dec - 26 Dec. NY Hilton & Towers Midtown West 1335 Avenue Of The Americas New York, New York 10019 212-586-7000 Your Offer Price: $95.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $475.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $79.31 Total Charges: $554.31
