  1. Started bidding at $70 going up in increments of $5 over a couple of days. When I bid $80 I got an offer for $99. I declined, tried $85, it failed and got it for $90 the next day. Priceline Express was offering $114 for those dates. I used the PRICELINE link.
  2. I haven't stayed at this property, but in calling it to gather information, I was told that they have a "parking package" which costs a little bit more than parking but includes 2 shuttle passes. I also got the feeling that it was worth a shot to ask them to throw in more passes if you have more in your party. (We have 3 kids.) Good luck!
  3. I've been bidding these dates in this zone (with re-bids) for a few days up to $60 and wasn't successful. Today, I started at $60 and a counter offer to bid $75 popped up. I declined and bid $63 and then $65. The bid was accepted at $65. I was fully expecting the Crowne Plaza....I hadn't even considered Ayres Inn (on Chapman). I have not stayed here before. I guess we'll see how it goes. On the plus side, there is no parking or resort fee that I am aware of. And, I used your link to begin my bidding.
  4. On hotwire there is 3.5* Disneyland South Hotel for $90 The amenities are: Fitness Pool Hi-speed Recommended in 95% of Hotwire Reviews. Do you think it is the Doubletree? I didn't see that exact combination on the hotel list. (Unless I missed it.)
  5. Began this bid by using the PRICELINE link through betterbidding.com Then went to my rewards and used $10 bonus cash per night. I started at $31+$10 (bonus cash) = $41 Then resubmitted adding a new zone each time by increments of $2. My winning bid came to $39+$10 (bonus cash) = $49 So, the total for 3 nights was $144.96. I know there is also a $12/night resort fee that is paid at checkout.
  6. I just bid again and got the Crowne Plaza which I am very happy with. I started with a bid of $40 and then increased it to $42 and it was accepted.
  7. I just bid for 3.5* with no success for the dates 5/30-6/5. I bid $35, $38, $39, $40, and $41. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. I really thought I would hit it at $40 or $41.
  8. I have a $59 rate at the Howard Johnson on Harbor for Sunday and Monday night. Thank you for your insight...sounds like maybe I should try the whole stay first and if it doesn't come through I can keep my current reservation and try just bidding the remaining four nights. I know I have to be happy with any result, but I'll be crossing my fingers for the Crowne or Hyatt because I'm not a big fan of ART.
  9. I am looking to bid either 5/30-6/5 or 6/1-6/5 in the Garden Grove area. I have a good rate for the first two nights (5/30 and 5/31) elsewhere, but am considering bidding all the nights for the convenience of not having to move hotels and if it will make a difference on the rate. I thought it was interesting how when I started with the 5/30 date the rate for the remaining days remained low for the Crowne and the Hyatt, but when I did just the last four dates, the rate was higher for the whole week. The rates for the Crowne Plaza are $70 (5/30-6/5) and $105 (6/1-6/5). The rates for the Hyatt are $89 (5/30-6/5 going up to $99 on Fri.) and $99 (6/1-6/5). The Marriott Suites is $125 and doesn't change with the date change. The Sheraton is $112 (5/30-6/5) and $93 (6/1-6/5). Do you think this will make a difference in the name your own price option? Would I likely get a better rate for the whole week if I bid starting with 5/30? (I just won't be arriving until late that night and don't know if that will influence the room I'm assigned.) Thank you!
  10. If priceline won't help you and you decide to not "eat" the money I just wanted to let you know that we got this hotel in February. It was nothing fancy, but the room was definately clean (cleaner than the one we stayed in at HOJO's recently and people rave about that place). The distance is a little inconvenient, but we took the ART and remember that this hotel has free parking. I also would hope for a nicer hotel when bidding this star level, but even if I got this one again I wouldn't be devastated.
  11. Amenities were: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Laundry It was strange that on hotwire it said it was only a 16% savings which was inaccurate. We're pleased with the results. Thanks for all your help. I'd never dare play the priceline and/or hotwire game without this board and your help. :) Used the link through this site to get to hotwire! This was Riverwalk North...sorry forgot to put that in.
  12. Oh, I can't figure out how to edit----I searched the forum and did find one post for the Hampton Inn. It also only shows up on hotwire for the full dates specified, so no go on the peeking. It does match the tripadvisor rating, but the savings amount would be way off. I'm guessing that's not reliable--the rates are $159-$169 on other websites, so $69 seems really great. I just want to be as informed as possible before taking the plunge!
  13. Thank you for your response. I got the information for the Hampton Inn off of the hotel list on this website, but you said it hasn't been reported yet. What am I missing? Is there something else it is more likely to be? If we think that's the best option I'll try the first night/last night trick. I'll be sure to let you know what we do and we will use the HOTWIRE link.
  14. Please help identify and/or confirm these hotels... Dates: February 20-25, 2008 2* Riverwalk South $45 (I don't have a clue!) 3* Riverwalk South $89 (Best Western-Sunset Suites?????) Suite, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, High-Speed, Laundry 2.5* Riverwalk South $79 Suite, Boutique, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Pool, Business, Laundry, High-Speed 2.5* Riverwalk North $69 (Hampton Inn on Bowie Street??????) Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Laundry Thanks for your help....again :) We already bid up to $60 for 2.5* on priceline. I'm thinking if that one is the Hampton Inn for $69, Hotwire may be the way to go this time. What do you think?
  15. I needed the last night still and took the option to add a night at $64 for 2/8-2/9. I had bid for the single night up to $50 and the savings wasn't going to be worth the hassle to move hotels. Started my bidding through savingsbarn.com
  16. Thanks!! I'll let you know what I do and the results. I meant parking and resort fees by the $10-$15 per night--not taxes.
  17. Thanks Thereuare--thinking about how much you could save by splitting bids is a good idea. If it's only $5/night even on five nights that would be only $25--not worth switching. $10/night for 5 nights--probably worth it to me, but that's assuming I would want to split Sun-Th and bid Friday separately. If you were to split what dates do you think would be most advantageous? I know it's a guess, but do you think waiting until under 14 days will make a difference? I'm also comparing this against a HOJO rate of $59 (sun-thurs). There's free parking there. With all the priceline bids you have to add $10-$15 more per night for fees. My mom doesn't want to walk, so with the price equal I was hoping for a 3* priceline with a shuttle (I know not guaranteed but likely). I'd bid Friday on Priceline if I went with the HOJO...I'll stop rambling and take any advice. :)
  18. The rate on the Crowne Plaza site is $110 for these dates. The Hyatt is $104, $104, $129, $129, $139, $169. I thought I'd wait until two weeks before the third before bidding higher than $45. Do you think I need to split my dates because it's for six days, bid higher, or be patient for a few days? Thanks for your help!
  19. Started bidding at $41 and was accepted at $46. I'm disappointed, but that's the luck of the draw. The reviews seem pretty awful. Anybody have advice on where to request a room or if there's anywhere to park to avoid the parking charge? Started bidding through savingsbarn and used the support link for my last Amazon.com purchase.
  20. Yes, we checked hotwire, but we weren't comfortable with the results within the zone boundaries. And, the savings was only about $6. There was a hotel we for sure didn't want, so we went safe with what we did know and booked the Red Roof. I didn't check for a thank you forum, but thank you for all the work you do so that we can get better deals on our hotel stays. I really appreciate this site. It is my preferred bidding information site and I always begin my bids through savingsbarn. Thank you.
  21. Running out of time, so we'll probably book the Red Roof Inn direct for $65/night or switch zones.
  22. Tried yesterday for 3 star and 2.5 star up to $55--rejected. Today started at $60 for 3*, added free rebid for $65 and got it. Hopefully it's not as bad as the reviews say. There didn't seem to be a great alternative even if this one didn't come up. I guess we'll see!
  23. This was the first bid at this star level in this zone. Having hard luck in other zones and because of time constraints we started a little higher than would normally begin bidding. Based the price off of seeing a previously won bid at the same rate, same zone, same star level.
