This is a new hotel for the Hotwire list. The Berkeley Hotel 1200 E. Cary Street Richmond, VA, 23219 Amenities: Fitness Center Laundry Facilities Restaurant Business Center According to the hotel's website, they also offer free high-speed wireless internet access, though this wasn't noted on HOTWIRE. Base rate for a double room appears to be about $170, so this was a great deal. Nice location, too. Thanks, BB!

The Courtyard is actually a fair bit closer to my destination (a music venue on 3rd Ave & 37th St S) than any of the previously found Priceline hotels, which is nice. New hotel for Madison (Central): Sheraton Madison Hotel 706 John Nolen Dr. Madison, Wisconsin 53713 (608) 251-2300 Amenities: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet Access Regular rates are around $200, so this seems to be a pretty good deal, though the reviews on TripAdvisor are less than promising. My only real qualm is that this is listed as a "central" Madison hotel, yet it's 2.5 miles away from downtown. Oh well. I booked using Better Bidding's HOTWIRE link.

After taxes/fees, the total came to $674.69 for 5 nights (about $135/night). This is well over half off the minimum standard rate of $1,534.38 after taxes for the same time period (about $307/night). Was looking for 1 night at a 4* in the Downtown-Riverfront area. First offer of $51 was rejected. Added University-Norwood area and rebid to $58, was rejected. Added Airport-Florence area, rebid to $65 and was accepted. It was very easy to rebid for a 4* in Cincinnati, as Downtown-Riverfront is currently the only area offering 4* hotels. The total, after taxes & fees, came to $83.08. Going rate at the Westin for that night is about $160 after taxes, so I am very pleased. I also started my search through SavingsBarn]. Thanks BB!
