It sure was. The hotel told my friend that they always book 2 adults and one child into ONE bed. And what would be the alternative - even when not everything is booked up? To start your holiday with the search for an new hotel? Try to find an affordable accommodation in New York City on short notice and have fun :) Where on the Hotwire page does it say: "We guarantee a room with two beds if you book for more than 2 adults?" I can't find it.
Sorry, but I don't get it. There a plenty of rooms (with one and two beds, just in case you booked for more than 2 people) at the Roger Williams available for your travel dates on the hotel website, Expedia and also Hotels.com. How can the Hotel be "overbooked"?
No, it doesn't. I know a case where 2 adults and a 14 year old had to sleep in one king size bed. After a furious phone call Hotwire offered them to cancel the room and book another hotel but due to the fact that everything was booked up (during easter) they squeezed into one bed. The hotel told them that Hotwire always books a King if a reservation is made for 2 adults and 1 child. If you really need 2 beds I would book for at least 3 adults.
I like the hotel and that is not the problem, I was just a bit disappointed over the fact that this Hotwire booking is not cheaper than a conventional booking. I am willing to take the risk of an unknown hotel but I expect 30 - 40 % savings when I book with Priceline or Hotwire. In my book that was no deal at all.
After month of reading this is my very first posting :) 12/31/06 - 01/01/07 Derag Hotel And Living Hotel Koenigin Luise Parkstrasse 87 13086 Berlin $72 (with taxes $85.78) Amenities: Restaurant(s) Hotel is a bit out of the way in "Weissensee". The rate on Expedia is $93.76 with taxes (American breakfast included). I'm not too happy with my "purchase".
