Thanks!  It looked for a day like our last minute trip would be called off, but its back on.  Our dates, however, have changed to 10/28-11/3.  Unfortunately prices and the number of options have changed since my first post.

Can I ask for one more best guess (still in the Ka'anapali area)?

Liked the idea of the Honua Kai Resort and Spa until I read this on the hotel website:

Clicked through this site to HOTWIRE and went for the  "North Strip - Fashion Show Mall on HOTWIRE for $149.00".  Which turned out to be, as you guessed, Encore!  This is great as my wife was planning to use the Wynn/Encore spa regardless of where we stayed.

Only my wife and I will be traveling.  We have been to Vegas before, but only for a short stay so you could consider us novices.  We will mainly be going to shows and wonder through shops and different hotels with a little gambling mixed in.  My wife is also planning a spa day.  I was going to book a room at the Venetian for $215/night (before taxes and fees) before doing some research so I would list that as my maximum price/night.
