  2. Hi, I feel your frustration as I am also trying to book a hotel using priceline for that weekend (3*/4*, max $175/night).. with no luck! As a backup i have booked the Oxbridge Apartments (Theater District) for $135/night, but they require a 35 day advance notice for cancellations and this window is closing fast. I probably will not be able to find anything on Priceline or Hotwire in time. I am wondering if anyone else has stayed at this hotel? the reviews were pretty mixed, with more being on the not so good side :) unless I am able to book something in Priceline/Hotwire within the next week.. i guess im stuck with the Oxbridge. im hoping for a miracle at this point!
  3. First bid $60 rejected Priceline asked for a $17 increase to rebid. I increased my bid to $77. Accepted :) Marriott Waterfront rooms are currently listed as starting at $179/night on marriott.com
  4. Thanks for the response! What about taking the lightrail to the Seacaucus Transfer Station and taxi to/from the hotel?
  5. :) I just won this bid for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and am just a little worried about transportation into NYC. I was hoping for the Hyatt NJ but was unable to win until i added Seacaucus. From other posts it seems to be not too bad, just catching the 129 bus (?) Any other tips to know about staying at this hotel and getting into the city? I would hate to be limited to only taking the bus, since the bus' probably dont run after midnight. Thanks!
  6. hi, any ideas what hotel this could be for an August 5-8 stay.. 4* South Beach Amenities: Boutique, Beach Access, Restaurant, Pool $90/night (Best Value) thanks :)
  7. great idea.. i will have to keep that strategy in mind for next time :)
  8. I may just go with the $109/nite Hyatt rate to get the following deal with American Express: American Express and Hyatt: Travel with Familiar Companions A Flight Credit of up to $100 is yours when you: Book on hyatt.com at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in the U.S., Canada, and Caribbean. Stay between November 20 - 30 or December 18 - January 4, excluding December 31. Pay with your American Express
  9. I took your advice and was able to get one nite at the Jersey City Hyatt .. First bid of $35 was rejected for check-in Friday, Dec 19, check-out Sat, Dec 20. Re-bid of $35 was accepted for check-in Sat, Dec 20, check-out Sun, Dec 21. Congratulations, you got your price of $35 for a 3-star hotel room. Hyatt Regency Jersey City On The Hudson Jersey City 2 Exchange Place Jersey City, New Jersey 07302 201-469-1234 Check-In Date: Sat, Dec 20, 2003 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Dec 21, 2003 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $11.11 Total Charges: $46.11
  10. I am checking Hotwire for hotels in Jersey City and there is a 3.5* with a restaurant, pool, and business center for $96/nite. Could that possibly be the Hyatt? Two other hotels also come up, one 2.5* for $62 and a 3* (suite) for $194. Both of those also show kitchenettes. If the $96/nite hotel is the Hyatt, do you think that trying the Priceline bid again for $35 again might be too low? Thanks for all your info on the bus lines, we might just end up going with Peter Pan :)
  11. I tried Priceline bidding for $35 on a 3* in Jersey City and no bite :) I may try again in 72 hours. That is definitely an option for our situation, since the PATH runs 24-7 (thanks for the map link) We were planning to take Washington Deluxe to New York. Do you have a preference for one of alternative bus lines over another? Peter Pan also offers a lower fare ($40/RT) if you do a 7-day advance purchase. Thanks again for all your help, this site is a fabulous resource :)
  12. We are taking the bus from DC and are definitely the type that would probably leave in the morning and return at night or maybe make one trip back to the hotel before going out at night. The deal at the Jersey City Hyatt sounds great, but what would be the best bidding strategy to get that hotel? Also, if we go out at night we would prefer cabbing it, how easy and expensive is getting a cab to and from Manhattan? Thanks so much for all your tips and advice :)
  13. Hi I am still trying to find a hotel for this weekend.. we have now extended our stay to include Friday Dec 19 and Saturday Dec 20. The lowest price option coming up now is a 3* Lower Manhattan (Fitness, Laundry) for $104/nite.. any ideas what that could be? I was really hoping to find a midtown hotel, but have extended my search area to include lower manhattan since i am worried that the prices may increase. I also tried bidding on Priceline (with no luck) using the following strategy that I found on these boards: 4* MTE bid $85, if rejected add MTW and bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone and bid $100. If rejected.... 3* MTE bid $75, if rejected add MTW and bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone and bid $95 I do not want to go below a 3* hotel, and really can't spend more than $100 nite. Is that totally unreasonable? Not sure what to do at this point? I am going to try rebidding in 72 hours, and keep checking Hotwire until then. Any suggestions? thanks :)
  14. Trying to find a hotel for one nite, December 20 in Midtown and came up with these two as the lowest priced options. Anyone have an idea what these could possibly be? I tried cross-referencing with the vacation packages, but had no luck. MTS 3.5* $81 Only amenity listed is a kitchenette MTC 3* $118 Amenities listed as: Restaurant, Fitness Center
  15. The amenities listed were as follows: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center, Spa Services. This hotel was also listed as a customer favorite.
  16. Won two nights (Nov. 14 - 16) at The Drake for $136/night. Was listed as a customer favorite. The hotel and room were very clean and the bed very comfortable. We arrived around 7pm so the only rooms available were doubles. Since we wanted a King, they offered an upgrade to an executive suite for $25/night. I dont know what the regular King rooms looked like, but this room is what I would have expected. The room was a decent size with a desk and side chair/ottoman. The bathroom was all marble tile, very clean, and had ample counter space. Including hotel taxes and the room upgrade we ended up paying $180/night.
