  1. I started out at $100 for a 5*. I added $5 per rebid (105, 110,115,120,125) and then jumped to $135 for the last rebid. I was afraid to use Summerlin as a rebid since they have a resort in their area. Does anyone know if you can get a Resort property in a rebid for a 5*? If not, I might try to rebid at $145. I already found the Paris for $155 per night plus tax through the travel planners for the convention we are attending. The group I am with is really picky on the 4* properties. They did relent and add the MGM or the Luxor, but I am thinking we'll stick with what we have for now as far as 4* properties. However, I am keeping my eyes open for other good deals on the 5* properties. I bid through Savings Barn. I might try it with higher amounts in after the 72 hours also. Thanks
  2. We are attending a conference in Vegas from 1/25-1/27 and these three hotels seem to be about the same price (EasyClickTravel Paris $245, Aladdin $270 off the record, and New York similar on other sites) What would your personal preference be for these hotels? I know they are doing renovations at Aladdin, but maybe they'll be complete? I haven't stayed at any of them so anyone who has, please chime in. Thanks. (Also do any have shuttles to the convention center). This is a lot more than I expected to pay, but other people in my party really want one of these three hotels. Thanks
  3. Used Savingsbarn.com Bid $50, declined. Added free re-bid Area Anaheim Hills, bid $55 declined. Added free re-bid area Laguna Hills $60 accepted. Two rooms 6/23-6/27
  4. Looks like the Aladdin is down to $149 per night on Hotwire. Also, Riviera is down to $90/night on Hotwire, and they have a new property 4* South Strip Showing Resort, Casino, Restuarant, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Sight speed, Golf, Tennis, and Business Center. Do you think it's the Luxor? It seem like the only possibility from the list and what I can see by matching up amentities. Of these properties, which one do you think I should stick with? I would say that the pool, close to things, and the WOW factor for the kids are the most important at this point. I will put the total with tax and fees... Renaissance (Directly booked) $215.82 Aladdin (Hotwire) $327.30 Riviera (Hotwire) $202.27 Luxor(?) (Hotwire) $389.61 Circus Circus (Direct Skyrise Tower Room) $263.49 Thanks again. By the way, great free to do list. I printed it out and will take it with us. If someone knows an update to the list, that would be GREATLY appreciated. THanks
  5. We bring our own foam matress that we have in the back of the excursion for those of us who want to sleep on a long drive :) Hotel has looked at us funny when we drag our own foam up, but it's memory foam so I just smile and say I have a bad back :) Thanks for the note though. I think I will wait until Wed and try Priceline one more time before I book the Excalibur. So what is there exactly to do there? I was thinking it would bee the pool and the Cirucs Curcus amusement park. Is there a lot more for children to see and do? If so, what should we definitely get done? Thanks for all your help. I love this site!
  6. No. We do the family bed at home anyways. My 3 year old and 1 year old will sleep in a queen with me. My 5 year old with my husband and my 11 year old on the ground. We're truly on the budget vacation :) We're actually driving from California to Texas and just taking a short break to Vegas even though it's out of the way. The Alexis Park was looking appealing because of the extra couch (I am assuming is a pullout), but I am leaning to towards Circus Circus right now. I just don't know what to expect as we've never been.
  7. We are driving through Vegas this weekend, and thought we'd stay with the kids (Hoover dam, playing etc, but not really gambling). We'll be staying Friday and Sat, 6/23-6/25. I currently have the Renaissance booked directly through their site for $99 a night and can cancel through Wed. Here's what Hotwire is offering. 4* North Strip Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, high speed, golf, tennis, business center for $184 (I think it's the Aladdin?) 3* North Strip Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, high speed, gold, tennis, bus center $102 (Riviera?) 4* South Strip Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, golf, bus center $191 (New York?) 3* South Strip Customer favorite, Casino, rest, pool, fitness, spa, golf, tennis $125 (Excalibur?) Also, I already tried Priceline through Savings Barn, bid $115 and was offered $162 for a 4*. Declined used free re-bid but no luck. Having never been to Vegas, and considering I will have four children under 12 with me, where do you suggest. My husband thought the kids wouldn enjoy seeing the sights on the strip, but I was thinking maybe Circus, Circus? Their website is $119 directly for a tower room. We won't be gambling really so I also considered the Alexis Park for $88 on Easy Click travel. We do plan on doing the amusement park at Circus circus and Hoover dam while we're there. Having never been to Vegas, is it worth it to pay more to be on the strip? Also, I was wondering if I would have better luck trying hotwire or priceline after wed? Thanks in advance.
  8. I purchased these through Savingsbarn.com link. 1st bid $40 declined. Free re-bid added Anaheim hills $45, added Laguna HIlls free re-bid $49 all declined. I didn't want to be locked out and only had one more re-bid, so I added Seal Beach and bid $55. It was accepted at the Crowne Plaza. I stayed at the Hyatt last year, and we'll see how the Plaza compares. Either way, this is a screaming deal. I don't know why it was more expensive this particular weekend. I was thinking of going last weekend and Hotwire was about $20 cheaper per night. Something must be going on.
  9. I just got an email this morning from Hotwire regarding this hotel. It has been downgraded to a 2.5* and they have given me a $75 Hotdollar amount in my account. I realized my oversight in originally posting my win so I am correcting it now. Have you ever heard of a Hotdollar amount being given almost a month after the fact? We were happy with the reservation. It was the least expensive chioce (Even over the 2* and 2.5* properties). So I would have paid more for the 2* property than for this one. I agree it probably wasn't a three star property, but I wonder how far back Hotwire went in giving Hotdollars to past winners? It's been so long now, to be honest, I thought it was a phishing scam (I was unaware of Hotdollars before this). Not that I am complaining. The total with taxes was $140, so it's like we got to stay for only $20/night. Here are the amentities. Restaurant Pool Fitness Center Business Center Laundry Center
  10. I got the Sheraton Grand 4* Hotel for 1/20-1/21 (Same day) for $60/night. It was $79 on Hotwire, so I thought I would have to use re-bids, but got it first offer (Shoot, now I feel like I could've gone lower...). Still happy with it, and I did use the Savingsbarn.com link.
  11. I first bid $50 for a 4*. Priceline came back and offered $59. I used the convention center as a free re-bid (Convention center area or The Strip would have worked as my husband is there for a convention). I offered $55 and got it. :) I bid up to $70/night on these same dates three days ago. Sometimes I guess it pays to wait until the last minute mid-week in Vegas.
  12. Went with the Priceline option. Got 4* MGM for $55. Bid $50 they offered it at $59, re-bid using free zone for $55 and got it. I am very pleased as it is $20 cheaper per night than my Aladdin bid. Besides, my husband is there for the Concrete expo and probably won't be in the room much anyways :)
  13. I have the Aladdin booked for 1/17-1/19 for $79+tax (Travelzoo), and my last day to cancel with no charge is today. I just found that Hotwire dropped it's price on the 4* to $60/night. That's a total of $68.16/night after fees. The amentities are Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Spa, Golf, Tennis, and Business Center. I am guessing this is the MGM. My husband is going to Vegas and will be visiting the convention center daily. Do you think I have identified the property correctly? Is there a chance it is the Luxor? I have read the Luxor seems to be the least desirable of the 4* properties and don't really want it. If it is the MGM, would you stick with the Aladdin at 86.11/night total or go with the Hotwire hotel? Also, I tried Priceline last week, but should I revisit that before going with the Hotwire choice? Thanks in advance
  14. Probably could have gotten the La Quinta cheaper, but oh well. I wanted to see what this hotel was. No time for re-bidding and all that jazz. For 4/26 (Same Day) 2.5* $40 Courtyard by Mariott Houston Hobby. I love this site. This is the first time I feel like I can contribute (Most of the time, the hotel is already listed that I end up getting). THanks
  15. I need help figuring out a hotel. 4/20-4/23 Orange County Disneyland North $58 3.5 stars Restaurant,Pool, Fitness, Laundry Great site. Thanks for the help in advance. ALso I tried priceline for 3 stars on the same dates bidding 32, 35, 37, 41 and was denied everytime. Is it better to wait until closer to the date or have I waited too long? Should I include Friday night? Thanks again
