  1. Ended up not going and decided to put this back for a few weeks. Thanks for the help.
  2. Thank you for all the good advice. We have definitely decided against the Hotwire Deal as the property lacks a pool. Also my husband wants to look at Dearborn. We'd like to close this out and will need help with another property in Dearborn.
  3. Hotwire Hot Deal with the complete list of amenities: Airport shuttle, free breakfast, smoke-free rooms, business center, restaurant(s), fitness center, self-service laundry Also listed at 70% recommended I currently have a cancelable reservation for the Embassy Suites at DTW for those date at $113.08 per night. Any idea which hotel? Thanks.
  4. Originally bid on a 3 1/2 star hotel in this zone. Began at $85 per night. Rec'd one time offer that $101 per night would buy my room. Used a free rebid to increase my offer to $87 and rec'd the same counter offer for $101 per night. Used a second free rebid and was accepted at $89 per night with an upgrade to the 4 star Glendale Hilton. Having stayed at this hotel before, I am pleased.
  5. :) Started at $54 and increased my bid in $2 increments using free rebids until my $62 offer was accepted. I have stayed at this property on many occasions and love it. Free parking, redecorated rooms, and those cookies! For the rest of our trip, we'll be staying at the Manchester Grand in SD (on the company) and have to say the Doubletree is way better. :)
  6. For 2/6-2/9/08 Ammenities include: Fitness Pool Retsaurant Business Center Laundry Internet Access Tennis Nearby $102m per night. Thanks.
  7. The price of this property appears to have dropped to $129 per night per an email rec'd from HOTWIRE. Based upon recent experiences with the Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express chain in California as well as the reviews for this property, at the present I plan to go with my cancelable reservation at the Trianon(Bonita Springs) at $145 per night which sounds very nice. I will continue monitoring the properties offered by HOTWIRE and get back to you if something interesting comes up. Thanks for all the help on this one. :)
  8. For 5 nights starting 2/4/08. $133 per night. Ammenities include Free Breakfast, Pool, Laundry, High Speed Internet, nearby golf, nearby tennis. Normal rate is supposedly $214 per night. Thanks.
  9. Most likely this was the Hilton near Disneyland. The Hilton Suites is normally listed on Hotwire with the Suite icon and it does not charge for parking. Most recently this was listed at $69 per night for 3-1 thru 3-4. My sister just won it on Hotwire. :)
  10. This has me a little stymied, too. The newly renamed Burbank Marriott doesn't have anything that's really kid friendly. The only place that seems to remotely fit the bill is the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn as they do have play equipment. Generally speaking, this hotel isn't all that great and overrated, but meets Hotwire's criteria. I'd say proceed with caution and also check out the websites for the Universal Sheraton and Universal Hilton. I've stayed at both, but only won the Sheraton thru Hotwire. The Hilton is nice, but the Sheraton is very much in need of a facelift. Good luck!
  11. Got this on Priceline for an intermediate on first try. For 8 days starting 2/24/07. Total with tax came to $157.22. Verypleased with this as it beat out any car rental site using discount codes, etc. and even bested Hotwire at $22.95 per night. Proves that the bargains are still out there. :)
  12. Bid $67 rejected. Bid $69 using free rebid zone rejected, but countered at an add'l $22 per night. Waited 24 hours and bid $75 and was accepted. :) Stayed here before and was happy with the property......great in every way. :)
  13. Didn't think it was appropriate to post this win since I won this before I discovered BETTER BIDDING and went directly into Priceline. :)
  14. No street parking adjacent to the hotel as I recall. There is a huge lot immediately to the west for the two restarants located there. Probably the closest available street parking might be 2-3 blocks north. Please post how it goes. I'm booked there again for 9/29 and 9/30 at the same rate you paid. BTW, the coffee shop immediately west (Conrads) has great breakfasts and salads and sandwiches and is reasonably priced. Also, about a mile away to the east on Los Felix (near Brand) is Mimi's Cafe. It's an upscale family chain with incredible eats and it won't break the bank. :) Yup, I love the place.
  15. Followed your strategy, using all possible free rebid zones with continued rejections at the 3* level. Reopened my browser and added Costa Mesa/Irvine to the mix and submitted a bid for $55 for 10/3 to 10/5 and won the Doubletree Anaheim/Orange. Thanks for all the help. I checked Doubletree's web site and the best rate was $139 per night. Am a happy camper with this deal. :)
  16. Stayed there in October, 2004 for 9 days thru Priceline. There was a $14 daily charge for parking, but that seems to be the case with every 3-4* hotel in the area. It is a very nice hotel and very conveniently located near the 134 and 5 freeways. Think you'll like it as it appeared to be a relatively new property. :)
  17. Thanks for the explanation regarding the best time to bid. Think I am going to aim for a 3* hotel in the Disneyland zone for 10/3-10/5 (checkout). Any suggestions as to where I should start and the increment used for the 3 free rebid zones. :)
  18. Using Savingsbarn.com link, I followed your strategy for 10/3 to 10/5. 1) Bid $50 for 3* for Costa Mesa/Irvine zone and was rejected. 2) Modified bid to $55 and added free rebid zone Anaheim Hills and was rejected. 3) Modified bid to $60 and added free rebid zone Laguna Hills and was rejected. 4) Modified bid to $65 and added free rebid zone Seal Beach and was rejected. I'm leaving for So Cal on 9/29. Is there any possibility that rates or add'l stock will become available for a 3* in the Costa Mesa/ Irvine zone closer to my departure date? If that isn't likely, what would a good starting point be for a 3* in the Disneyland zone for 10/3 ttp 10/5? Thx.
  19. Need a 3* in the Costa Mesa/Irvine Zone for 2 nights 10/3 and 10/4. I am prepared to bid up to $65 per night. Any suggestions for bidding strategy would be most appreciated. :)
