  1. Got this hotel on first bid after having bid amounts up to $55 for 4* in all 3 airport regions a couple of days ago. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $60.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $60.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.27 (USD) Total Room Cost: $76.27 (USD) Lowest price on website is $87. Used the PRICELINE link here.
  2. I will be in Florida end of October to early November and am considering booking a hotel stay for one night so my parents can meet me in Tampa. Can anyone tell me which area I should concentrate my bids on in order to be fairly clost to the Hard Rock Casino? I am also interested in one night near the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood and would appreciate the same info for that. Thanks for any help!
  3. Saw posted wins here and another website and decided to bid $160. Got the Marriott first try...now I have to work on Maui. Thanks for posting wins! It's a great help for Priceline bidding.
  4. If I've posted this before, I apologize. Please change topic title, etc., if necessary. I purchased a package for SFO area on Hotwire back in January for 5/10 to 5/13/06 (post-cruise). The package includes compact car and room for 3 nights (although I'll be flying out on the red-eye late the second night). Reviews for the hotel on Tripadvisor and other places are very good for this 2* hotel. Amenities: Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Pool(s) Fitness Center High-speed Internet Access Package for 2 ($123.00 per person). Includes hotel and car rental. $246.00 Package Subtotal $246.00 Also had $30 hotwire credit for Entertainment Book rebate snafu from last year, so paid a total of $216.
  5. Stayed here thru Hotwire for $164/night ($573.95 total). We were assigned an ocean view room after showing our Starwood Preferred card. We liked this hotel very well, especially the beach area. The snorkeling area along the Black Rock was great, although tended to become very crowded in late morning and throughout the rest of the day. The best snorkeling was earlier in the morning anyway with many different types of fish, eels and turtles. Our room faced the Black Rock and we had excellent views of the beach. Although the room wasn't dirty, it also wasn't perfectly clean - mirrors were not cleaned while we were there, however, sheets were clean and even with all the sand we dragged in, floors were kept clear. Room service was quick and efficient but the price of a cheese tray and bottle of wine was a whopping $100 with tip. The location of the hotel was great - at the end of Kaanapali but a short walk to Whaler's Village and good shopping, food and drinks. Paid an additional $100 for late (4 p.m.) checkout which is quite high. The additional resort fee which was to include internet access and parking was not charged and we were able to make use of the internet. All in all a good stay and would probably stay here again.
  6. Got this hotel on Hotwire for $176/night ($598.95 total). We were assigned to a partial ocean view room in building 4. Even though it is away from the action in Kona, we loved the hotel. The hotel personnel was friendly and helpful. Free valet parking, coffee in the room and 2 bottles of water each day. Room was king sized bed with large lanai including table & 2 chairs along with a reclining beach chair. Pool water was the first I've found in the islands that felt warm enough to swim in. Room service was fast and efficient. The beach was very nice and far less crowded than that of the adjoining Hapuna Beach Park. As in all Hawaii hotels, food was expensive, but it's a 20 minute ride to cheap breakfast in Waimea. We are used to driving long distances to restaurants so this seemed like no big deal to us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who prefers to be in a quieter area and would stay there again.
  7. Well, my rebate was denied again, so my complaint was filed with BBB this a.m. BTW, I did use original forms for my rebate. Since Hotwire only says "one rebate per Hotwire booking", not "one rebate per Entertainment Card", I used my book's form and that of a friend. I don't believe I'm committing any fraud by carefully following their instructions. Each of my bookings was slightly less than $600, so the extra $30 was a factor in my decision of whom to book with.
  8. I submitted my first rebate (along with the extra $20 credit that was offered at the time) and received it fairly quickly. the second rebate, I submitted using an original rebate form from a friend's book. After many weeks, the rebate was denied with the same information everyone else received. I wrote back and explained that I met all the requirements listed with the rebate. They again wrote back and denied it. I have written another email outlining that I used an ORIGINAL form, purchased a second Hotwire booking and that they said to use "OUR ad from Entertainment" - not "YOUR rebate form from Entertainment". I've got 2 upcoming reservations with them to the tune of just under $1200 and expect to get the $30. I'll update you with the final outcome, but next step will be the BBB. for those who wanted the email address where the rebate approval originated, it's the same place the rejection notices came from: [email protected]
  9. Saw the listing today on Hotwire that appeared to be Hapuna Beach Prince and was. I decided to cancel my Sheraton Keauhou reservation based on TripAdvisor reviews - problems with construction, lack of beach, etc. I'll be looking forward to a relaxing stay in November. I also plan to file for a second $30 Entertainment Book rebate. Amenities: Customer Favorite Resort Beachfront Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Spa Services Children's Activity Program Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Business Center 1 room(s) @ $176.00 per night x 3 night(s) $528.00 Taxes and fees: $70.95 Hotel Subtotal $598.95 Total Price $598.95
  10. This is a GREAT update to the site!
  11. Sorry I neglected to post this info and thanks for letting me know. Stay dates are 11/30 to 12/3/05 Amenities are Resort, Beachfront, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Children's Activities, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service). And thanks again Thereuare. Without the help of you and this community, I would have paid entirely too much for my stay.
  12. Booked with Hotwire today using your link. Used the Entertainment Rebate link (my book is in the mail) and will apply for that also: 1 room(s) @ $164.00 per night x 3 night(s) $492.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $111.95 Hotel Subtotal $603.95 Additional Savings $30.00 Total Price $573.95 After EB rebate, total cost will be $543.95/3 nights at the Sheraton I thought the taxes & fees were pretty outrageous (normal tax would be about $66), but still beats the hotel site best price of $255/night by far.
  13. Thanks for this info. I used the additional $10/night off (TODAY!) for an upcoming Maui trip. Had to use a different credit card than I normally would and created a new username/password. I'll post the info regarding my purchase under the Hawaii area. Thanks again BETTERBIDDING.COM!
  14. I will be in Honolulu 11/22-26 and need some advice from those who've been there recently on which hotel to choose. We were there in 1995 and stayed at Outrigger Reef in an oceanfront room and were happy with our choice. So much time has passed, our experience there may not be the same as that of those who've been there more recently. We would like to be near Waikiki, on the beach if possible but not necessary. Here are the options I'm debating on - Hilton Hawaiian Village - available thru HOTWIRE $174 probably a garden view room? Waikiki Parc - available thru Orbitz @ $189 oceanview under 17th floor includes breakfast Sheraton Waikiki - HOTWIRE $179 (if previous guesses are correct) Other interests are Outrigger on the Beach, Sheraton Moana Surfrider, Renaissance Ilikai or Hawaii Prince (can get this thru Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays for $858 incl tax for oceanview) Is there any reason to skip any of the above hotels (bad location, not a good value, etc)? Any reason to bid Priceline instead of Hotwire on any of these? It seems the reviews of all Waikiki hotels vary quite a bit. I also don't want to end up with a "Priceline/Hotwire room" so would like to get a hotel that's known for not showing any bias against these types of reservations. Thanks as usual for any help you can give me. I'm sure when I start working on the Big Island, I'll have more questions and I appreciate all the help I've received here.
  15. Thanks, Thereuare. I procrastinated and didn't find the info you posted re Easy Click until today. All the airport locations on that site for my dates are listed "on request" rather than "available". My current reservation must be cancelled by Thur @ 4 for full refund. I have checked my hotel's site and there are no more rooms at my rate, so I don't want to cancel that. I phoned Easy Click and explained the situation. The (very nice) woman I spoke to agreed my chances of getting the Quality at Easy Click's price were slim since that hotel also does not show any availability. Thanks for the info though - I'll certainly keep Easy Click in mind next time I book. They had some great prices.
  16. Haven't been able to win a bid with Priceline for one night 1/14/05 bidding up to $40/3* MCO, so I've been looking at alternatives. I saw your posting re hotels at Port Canaveral area and decided to check out EasyClick. I've never used EasyClick and here's my ? My flight in arrives after midnight and I'm wondering whether there are any hassles with your reservation being held. I will probably stay as close to the airport as possible and see the 2 1/2* Quality Inn/airport/Florida mall on McCoy is available for $39. Anyone had problems with booking with EasyClick or know anything about this hotel (it has good reviews on TripAdvisor)? I'm a little timid about this since the choicehotels site indicates the Quality is not available that night. Thanks
  17. Sorry if I didn't format my title correctly - feel free to change it. I needed one room in FLL for 3/2 and 3/3/05 and 2 rooms for 3/4/05. I'd seen many people posting winning bids of 3* Downtown, $75 for dates in early 2005, so bid that for 2 rooms on 3/4/05 and was accepted first time: Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $25.42 Total Charges: $175.42 I hadn't seen any bidding histories for this area where a lower amount was bid, so for the one room on 3/2 and 3/3, I tried bidding the following: 3* Downtown $60 Rejected 3* Added Miramir $67 Rejected 3* Added Pompano $75 Accepted Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $25.42 Total Charges: $175.42 We've stayed at this hotel in the past and really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for all the helpful information on this site, THEREUARE!
  18. Thanks, gleff. I ordered my free samples of hot sauce and Claritin yesterday
  19. I originally posted this review at another website but thought I should post it here also: I got this (Boutique) hotel through Hotwire for $88/night for 8/23-8/26 and 8/30 after originally bidding on Priceline unsuccessfully. The hotel is located on 4th ave near Seneca. The location was wonderful and enabled us to walk to many Seattle attractions - Seaquarium, Pike Market, etc. It was also very close to the monorail station that took us to the Space Needle and Science Center. We felt very safe in the neighborhood and walked to dinner every night. A short walk took us to the Metropolitan Grill, Cutters, and Brooklyn, all excellent restaurants. The hotel lobby was decorated with a fireplace and several lounging couches and chairs and was the site of a complimentary evening wine reception from 5-6 each day. Our room for the first 4 days was clean and very nice. Although it was on the small side, they made good use of the space. The room included a queen size bed, upholstered chair, dresser, armoire with TV, CD player and honor bar, cherry desk and desk chair. The bathroom was long and narrow and hair care products, soap, etc., were furnished. The surface area around the sink was small, making it difficult to store curling iron, brush, etc. A coffee maker with complimentary coffee was also on the sink top. Our room the last day of our stay was much larger than the previous room, included everything in the first room and also had cushioned window seats along the window that ran the length of the room. The bed in this room was a king, rather than the queen size bed in the previous room. There was also a hassock by the upholstered chair to put your feet up and relax. The bathroom in this room was more a square than a rectangle like our previous room, but the sink area was the same. Both rooms included complimentary internet service and evening bedding turndown complete with chocolates on the pillow. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Check in was quick for the first part of our trip and our room was available around noon. The last day of our trip we arrived at the hotel around 3. Our room wasn't quite ready but we were given a room on the Concierge floor within 45 minutes of our arrival. The desk staff supplied a vase for the flowers we purchased at Pike Market. We made use of the concierge for dinner reservations. She was very helpful in getting us a great table in a restaurant we wanted to enjoy one more time before leaving Seattle, Cutter's. We had a rental car on our final night and used the valet parking. Parking was $25/day with in-out privileges. The parking attendants were also very friendly and quick in getting our car to us as well as giving us directions when we needed them. Comparing the regular price for this hotel during our dates ($250-315/night), we did extremely well with Hotwire. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hotel Monaco again if we ever get back to Seattle.
  20. I just returned from a one night stay at this hotel through a Hotwire reservation for $54 USD/night. Valet parking was not available, but parking was available ($16.25 CDN) across Queen St W under the City Hall building. The lobby of the hotel can be reached without going outside by following the Path. A warning: the route to take was marked with a pedestrian walkway, but unless you knew in advance this would take you to the stairs and elevators leading to the hotel lobby it was very confusing. After the initial problem it was fine - just be sure to note the level and area where you're parked. I never did find the elevator to get from the 3rd level in the parking garage to the lobby level which would have been very inconvenient if we'd stayed longer than a day. The area under the hotel is filled with shops and fast food type restaurants. There are also better restaurants located on the lobby level and level 2. The lobby level is also filled with shops and it can be difficult to find the reservation desk. Upon arrival there we found a long line of people waiting to check in. Since I'd already emailed the hotel with my Starwood Preferred Guest number, I went to that counter, where there was virtually no line and 3 people helping with check in. It was no problem at all using the SPG desk, even with my Hotwire reservation. We were given a room on the 32nd floor with king sized bed, non-smoking, a view of Lake Ontario and the CN tower. It was nicely decorated and quite comfortable. All the regular amenities - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap were available, as well as a hair dryer, coffee maker, coffee, tea, etc. The prices for room service seemed reasonable, although we didn't eat at the hotel. There is an indoor/outdoor pool, open year round on the 3rd floor. There was also a large fitness center and jacuzzi there. The location of the hotel was good although due to unforseen circumstances, we weren't able to do much exploring. For $54 a night, I'd definitely stay here again. Thanks again to betterbidding!
  21. Didn't try Priceline, but from your helpful info, got the Sheraton Centre for 11/29/03 on Hotwire. Total cost $67.95 US. Very happy with this price and location. Amenities are as listed on your hotel info. Thanks for all the useful info.
  22. Sorry about that wrong screen name (I was trying to multi-task and it didn't work too well) ...Thanks to Gleff! I appreciate the info.
  23. Another lurker here who decided to register so I could thank thesqueegeekid for the tip. I applied today, got the gold and combined my accounts...now if I could just get that PL bid accepted...Thanks for all the tips I've received here!
