  2. Hey folks!

I'll be going to Paris for the weekend in July and I'm looking for one night's accommodation for the night of 22/07/16 for two adults in Central Paris.  I've been to Paris before so know areas and arrondissements well but will be going with a first timer so would like to be fairly central.  I generally stay in the 5th or 6th arrondissements/Luxembourg areas when I'm in Paris but I'm thinking of Opera because it's more Central and I've found some interesting prices on Hotwire.  However I can be flexible if need be.  I'd be grateful if you could help me out with the following options I've found and let me know which hotel you think they are. My budget is $95 at the very most.  Early check in would be great but it isn't essential. This is what I've found:

    Thanks

    Here are my top three:

1.Opera Garnier - Galeries Lafayette St Lazare  $74

Free Internet, Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms,

2.Opera Garnier - Galeries Lafayette St Lazare condo $92

Free internet, Pet friendly, Studio, 24 hours front desk

3.Opera Garnier - Galeries Lafayette St Lazare area hotel $91

    Free internet

I tried to use the hotwire easy view tab for full amenities but the prices are different so I'm not sure if they're the same hotels?

    Thanks for your help

  3. Hey

Just updating.  It looks like I may be able to stay with a friend for this night,in Brooklyn? So I'm going to push for that and forget the hotel thing.  Prices are too high for my budget and I'm sick of checking daily!   Thanks for all your hard work and research and for helping me book my other three nights, you can close this thread now I've made my decision

    Thanks again

  4. O.K. got it.  I didn't before but I understand. I just don't think anyone would be reading my threads tbh! lol. I just think I underestimated what a task it was to find accommodation in NYC.  I'd love to have this locked up by the weekend, but...yeah...we'll see.

Slightly unrelated, not sure what the protocol is about posting unrelated topics but someone posted a review about the Crowne Plaza saying they have bitten by bed bugs! Is this as common as the media/internet lead you to believe? I feel like sleeping on the concrete floor at the moment!

  5. My apologies. I'm new to the site and it never occurred to me that anyone would use the services and not update once the reservation has been confirmed, hence the reason why I chose to wait, as it was undecided. But it sounds from what you've said that this does happen quite often.  I did however state

Once I'd written that I thought that was update enough? But I think I understand, it's like you're searching twice rather than focusing on one reservation at a time? Is that it?  I'm definitely ready to make a booking, just at the right price. I want to concentrate on this night first for reasons mentioned above, once I secure that, I'll move back to researching the first night which is proving to be a bit more difficult, but as I said and did following my first post.  I will not forget to update as things progress and once I'm about to secure the booking.  Thanks for filling me in though and explaining the process.

I wasn't aware of the resort fee with crowne.  i'm going to have a look at the reviews and report back...

    Thanks

  7. Hey all! I'm looking for a hotel for my final night in New York.  I'm basically just looking for a good price so any area is fine by me.  1 night's stay 9th May - 10th May for one person.  Free internet would be great. Apart from that i'm not really fussed, but somewhere that would allow or give a late check out option would be fab cos I my flight leaves late evening on the 10th of May.

I've had a look on hotwire and have found what looks like three potentially great deals.  I'd love to check hotwire against standard prices so would be grateful if you could give me an idea of which hotels you think they are...First up:

    1)Times Square North area hotel - $134

    Complimentary

    Free Internet

    Amenities

    Business centerFitness centerPet friendlyRestaurant(s)

    Accessibility

Accessible for visually impairedAccessible for hearing impairedAccessible path of travel

    2) Mideast area - new to hotwire - $110

    Amenities

    Boutique Hotel

    Business center

    Fitness center

    Internet access

    Restaurant

    Accessibility

    Accessible for visually impaired

    Accessible for hearing impaired

    Accessible path of travel

    in room accessibility

    3) Times Square -south area hotel - $90

    Complimentary free breakfast

    Amenities - Smoke free rooms

The first two look interesting because the savings are so substantial, the first one especially because internet is free. Just not sure if it's worth the extra $24... Thanks for your help

  8. Hi folks!

I'm looking for a hotel stay for one night in New York City.  I'll be arriving late from the U.K. so will probably be jetlagged and tired and just need a good sleep so I have no preference for area.  I'd like to keep the budget low however as I have a different hotel booked for the following day which was slightly over budget.  But the question is how low can I go? I'd like free internet and breakfast which I guess will affect the price, but the breakfast isn't a must.  I'm wondering if a hotel in or close to JFK airport might be my best bet then I can check out the following day and head into the city.

To confirm it's one night for one person on the 6th May to the 7th May, where late check in will not be a problem. I managed to find a 3* hotel on priceline in the JFK area with the following amentities

    Business Center

    Airport Shuttle

    Free Internet

    Free Breakfast

    Fitness Center

at $115 approx. Any idea which hotel it may be? No bidding needed. Ideally I wouldn't want to pay higher than that? Taxes and fees included Is this possible?

    Thanks for your help

  9. Hi thereuare

Changing hotels three times is no problem.  I had a feeling my budget may be a bit low, but I really had no idea what prices were like in New York. Might be a good idea to do a little research first?...What I may do is go for the hotel which may be the Affinia Shelbourne and then do a separate bid for my two nights once I have a better idea of costs?  We'd like to all be together for those nights so I don't might paying the extra.  Fingers crossed it's the right one.  Is it a 4* hotel and is the hotel available on priceline or hotwire? Then do you have to pay the full amount for the whole stay or is a deposit sufficient then the rest can be paid on arrival?

  10. Weird...I replied to this post yesterday but it's not showing up? Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the replies.  I wasn't aware there were two Midtowns so if Empire State Building Zone is close to Affinia Shelbourne, that's the area I'm interested in. There's been a change of plan, the third person is no longer coming so I'll be looking for a room for two, using either Priceline or Hotwire, not sure what the difference is between Priceline and Priceline express? I'm happy to split the bid, but I will be staying alone the first and last night i.e the 6th and the 9th, so 7th and the 8th would be shared.  Confirmed dates for total stay May 6th - May 10th 2016.

I was reluctant to put prices because I'm not sure how accurate or realistic they are, but I'd like to pay $80-$100 for the shared room in a 3.5* and above and $40-$60 for the single room, if splitting the bid.  I'd be prepared to stay in any zone (for the 6th and the 9th) and could also stay in and could stay in a hotel 2.5* and above.  Hope that all makes sense.

Please let me know if it doesn't and I'm happy to take suggestions regarding price adjustments.

    Thanks again
