  1. This is going to be property specific. I have called some hotels and they have done so prior to arrival, some for fee, some just treat Priceline bookings like any other and just put the special request in the record. Views are always only 'guaranteed' with full rate payment for the specific room type. Most hotel reservations are 'run-of-house' with them being able to give you any available room. If you get one of those hotels that say 'that room type is not available to that rate', this can sometimes be handled at check-in for a fee, but there is never a gaurantee of this option being open on your day of arrival. Many hotel staff even get commision for selling 'upgrades' at check-in. If you are able to guess the possible hotel you might win, just call them prior to booking and see what they say their policy is. I did that last with the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco and it worked out great when that turned out to be the hotel I won.
  2. That is cruise season. The Movenpick is right at the cruise terminal. Almost 2000 board and disembark from the Celebrity Constellation on the 3rd. Around 1000 board and disembark from the MSC Opera on the 5th. http://www.amsterdamcruise.com/Custom/ACP/ (cruise calender) The 4 star NH's are all over $200 on your dates. I would guess a bid of $92 to $96 or above might win now based on that. Good luck.
  3. Looking at the zone carefully, the Pullman Barcelona Skipper is an oceanfront 5 star hotel with a 4.5 rating on trip advisor and may be a possibilty.
  4. To avoid any errors like this and to clear the slate, I always close the browser with the X and enter with the link again for each bid. A little more time consuming, but avoids any issue like this. I know you are comparing your counter offer negatively based on your expectations of the $135 rate. The fact is a bid of $135 was unrealistic for these dates and you are spending at the most $25 more than you might have won this same hotel for with that counter offer. Counters for Mayfair those dates are coming in even higher I think. If you really pushed Priceline that this was an error caused by confusion in re-bidding the best result would be a refund minus a $25 a night fee or $100. Thus your savings would be entirely eaten by this fee. Your total was most likely $985 and included $161.68 in taxes based on that amount in London today. Just so you know the best "opaque" rate on www.lastminute.com is around $1200 for a 5 star in London for your dates and if you won the Landmark, even with their pay 2 get one night free offer there the total comes to
  5. I book multiple room reservations frequently. If the inventory is there then you should have same chance with 2 room reservation.
  6. I never find these 5 stars at good rates the nights I need to be there. I always end up using www.lastminute.com The 5 star could be the Hempel Hotel as the zone goes over to Bayswater. Could be more boutique hotels that might border on that zone on the south end.
  7. I have a system for London that involves looking at night by night rate callendars for a couple of the hotels that appear frequently. Remember that these 5 star options are mainly business hotels and they use priceline to fill rooms when they are not busy. Marriott has a pay 2 get 3rd free on Thursday to Sunday at these hotels right now when you pay by VISA. Well. While I think you could get 5* Mayfair for the $155 on the Friday and Saturday nights, I think it would be much more on the first 2 nights. My guess would be $190+ on the Thursday and even $200+ on the Wednesday. You would spend more by taking them all at the $190+ to win all nights would be my guess looking at the rate callendars now. This can change rapidly this week as they see their actual occupancy the closer it gets. One alternative would be to book the weekend nights. It would then ask you if you want to try to add a night at same hotel. You could then bid $20 or so more for the weeknights later to try to add the same hotel. The problem is it only lets you add one night to front. Otherwise just find another option for the first 2 nights. You understand that you have a lot of re-bids by taking zones that have no 5 star one by one... then more rebids in different combinations of 2 or 3 zones. Marriott Grovesnor is the most typical 5 star, but if the others come up they are all close by. Good Luck.

  9. Congratulations, your price of $65 was accepted by Loews Atlanta Hotel. Bid 1 $63 no re-bid offer Bid 2 $64 no re-bid offer Bid 3 $65 accepted www.loewshotels.com rate $129 ($140 with taxes/fees (Expedia $150)) W hotel was at $152 best available rate. 10. An Embassy Suites would probably come in at 3.5 and I think the two city hotels would come in Downtown or Buckhead. While the Regency Suites is likely as they do not mention the pool anymore on website, the Residence Inn Atlanta Midtown / Historic would also work although the "boutique" classification would be a strech.
  11. The 3,5 trip-advisor rating would indicate the Le Meridien Gallia as the most likely. It has dropped to 79 at the moment. Might be ok at that price, but otherwise not very highly rated property.
  12. My best guess would be the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel. Good to see other options for Copenhagen for when the Marriott is not hitting on PRICELINE.
  13. This hotel started appearing last year and I think I figured out that it was the Holiday Inn Zurich Messe using a tripadvisor rating that appeared once. Not very central but ok hotel with a tram line nearby. Bidding central on PRICELINE is complicated as the Marriott is great, but the Crown Plaza that sometimes wins is far from center. The Rennaissance in Glattburg is hitting at $71 -80 on PRICELINE now and has tram from airport and city just short walk away but not at all central. Good Luck.
  14. I would try just a little higher. It seems to be either coming in at $130s range or in the $160s. Using my system I would guess a win at $164-166 or so. Option is to wait until closer in. Remember that while many get the JW, the Marriott Park Lane, Hilton and Intercontinental Park Lane can all be possibilities. Good Luck.
  15. Congratulations, your price of $69 was accepted by Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport. Bid 1 $54 no re-bid offer. Bid 2 $60 no re-bid offer. 16. I was in and bid $120 for 5* and failed with no rebid offer for the 29th of March, 2010. You could choose either airport code or "moscow moskva, Russia" for a one zone bid. I would guess that it is a company with a regional european office like Marriott that is making rooms available, but the risk is real high in such a large city with no zones and two airports that are so far apart.
  17. Congratulations with your success. Some have reported that the PRICELINE link from here will allow you to use a credit card as long as you enter a USA address for the card... any address. While I am glad you are happy with your price, note that quite often you can bid half of that amount or less and still get a room with a re-bid zone. The offer is just telling you that you are close and you do not need to accept it. You would have added another zone, Ramblas for instance and bid say $54 on your next try and might have won. Good luck with future bids in London. I would imagine they have an upsell process at the desk to generate extra revenue and the paid upgrade will be no problem. I think I even saw some sort of offer were you could join the club level for multiple night stays. I hope they give you the 50 euro or better and you even get a coctail reception each evening with tapas and fruit and flowers daily. Sounds nice. Enjoy your trip.
  18. I do not think I would waste time on low end hotels with PRICELINE. HOTWIRE would be a better alternative and you can even avoid hotels with resort fees by figuring out the hotel in advance using the Hotwire Vegas list here. You can find Stratosphere for $25 for your dates, but maybe even move up the downtown Golden Nugget for only $42. You have a long list of hotels that you can identify there. A good non-casino budget alternitive if you win it is in near strip east zone. The Hyatt place has free shuttle from airport and strip, breakfast included suite and sometimes goes for $32 to $34 on PRICELINE. Hard Rock accross street.
  19. You had mentioned previously that you are needing 3 rooms, with one being a triple. I assume you are putting in 3 rooms 7 adults when searching on Hotwire to get these rates. I can not identify this latest hotel, but did notice that if you buy 3 rooms the total cost is $732, while 4 rooms with the same number of guests would only cost a total of $698. I do understand your concern as rooms in london are often small. The park lane can not accomodate 3 in a room, while the grovesnor house can.... and so on.... Hope you find one that works for you.
  20. You do have the many combinations of 2, 3 or 4 zones together in london, but it does take time. As that is the Easter holiday weekend, I do not imagine that 5 star hotels that cater heavily to business clientelle will fill up, so you are not really in a hurry. I note that the Intercontinental has a prepaid of

  23. That Intercontinental may come and go. I have seen it for as low as $124 in December and then about a month out it went way up. You are not inclined to try priceline? There are so many rebid zones. I put in a low estimate for your date ($131) as I am needing that weekend as well, but will probably wait 3 months more to book. It gave a rebid of $181. I would think with that rebid that you could win on Priceline for about $160 to $165. $163 comes to a total of just $200 or
  24. Nashville is always much more difficult for me than other cities like Atlanta to get PRICELINE wins. You will not win 3* above in Downtown zone for under $80 as it looks now. You would probably do just as well to book this zone using hotels own offers. The airport option at 3,5 star (probably Sheraton Music City) could be gotten for around $45 bid I guess. I think Brentwood will even be more expensive than usual with an event. You would probably have to wait until closer in to see if that opens up on PRICELINE. Probably just as well to get the Hyatt Place on HOTWIRE for $67 as offers free breakfast. You could probably get the great $32 rate I got for family at the 2.5* Wingate by Windam. The hotel was very nice for its class and a warm breakfast was included. Amazing for only $85 total for 2 nights. That area is the major shopping center of nashville and historic Franklin is near. Good luck.
