  1. Has anyone had any problems renting a car from LAS with an international card? Ive tried to bid a couple of times but been rejected on the basis they could not process my card. I have used it previously for hotels without any dramas before and quite recently. Hotwire is showing some decent rates so I could head over there if worse came to worse.
  2. I split my 5/1 to 5/6 dates into two lots. Check my wins on the board posted down below. Maybe you will get similar prices using the savingsbarn.com link.
  3. tried the dupont and white house areas up to $150 without any luck. started bidding on the capitol hill zone at $110 for 4*. got up to $130 and was accepted for the Renaissance Washington. :) used the savingsbarn.com link. thanks for everyone's assistance. any tips for car hire in vegas? :)
  4. Can anyone tell me if the Capitol Hill/Convention Centre is considered safe? I am looking at bidding on a 4* there to supplement my winning bid on the White House and Dupont Circle zones.
  5. Managed to land the Hotel Palomar for $80 per night for the 5/4-5/6 stay. :) Then tried to land a hotel for the rest of the stay being the 1st-3rd. Gor up to 130 for a 4 star in the dupont/whitehouse areas but no luck. Tried for a 3* in dupont up to 100 but no luck. Does the Courtyard in Dupont come up often? (Its listed as 2.5) and I would be prepared to bid on it if you thought it was a realistic chance (I know one cannot predict these things). Used savingsbarn.com. Once again, thanks for the advice thereuare and AaronJB.
  6. If it is showing as 'on request' as it is for the entire stay does that mean they have no inventory?
  7. so do you think if i split my bids i would pick up those properties (or equivalent) cheaper than those quoted prices? i.e. the hilton for less than 110?
  8. I will think about splitting. I think initally I would prefer to avoid it as obviously I want to pack as much sightseeing into the trip and dont want to have to change hotels midway especially with the time differential between check out and check in. If it was a case of checking out, catching a cab and then checking in I think my view on this part of the trip and splitting might be different.
  9. Managed to get up to $135 for the dupont and white house areas at 4* with no luck. Got up to 110 for 3* in dupont area. Hmm...how high should I go? Its getting close to my max now which would ideally be 140 Used the savingsbarn.com link.
  10. Hello, I am looking at getting a place in either the Whitehouse area or Dupont Circle. Would prefer to stick to 4* in Whitehouse area and be prepared to go to 3* in Dupont circle area. Prices seem high for no apparent reason and my maximum would be $130. Is this likely to secure anything for the date range? Any suggested strategy would be appreciated.
  11. Thanks for the strategy. Worked a treat. Managed to get up to $105 before being given a counter offer of $22 more. Declined and added a rebid zone and got the Millenium Bostonian Hotel for $110. Millennium Bostonian Hotel 26 North Street At Faneuil Hall Marketplace Boston, Massachusetts 02109 617-523-3600 $440 for the 4 nights. Used the SB links.
  12. First time bid accepted at $65. Maybe I did bid a little high but happy with the price nonetheless. Used the links.
  13. As predicted we managed to secure the Venetian for 5/13-5/15 for $120 per night. Tried to bid up from $95 and was countered for $133 when we hit 105. We declined and went to 120 and secured the Venetian. Was offered an extra night but the price came in at $361 which even with bidding would more than likely fall out of our price range. Used the SavingsBarn.com links.
  14. The venetian is showing rates for the first two nights at $179 and the last night at $379 (ouch). If I was prepared to split, do you think $120 could land something on the first two nights? I bid up to $110 already (including the third night) and did not have much success. I used the appropriate links of course. Any suggestions on hotels relatively close so we dont have to move too far if we have to split? Is the Aladdin far away from the Venetian?
  15. Thanks to a tip from Aaronjb, Ive managed to book a cancellable booking through Quikbook (using the links) at the comfort inn and suites for 159 a night. Will try the other strategy later tonight.
  16. Yes I also tried downtown up to $90. Hotwire states the hotel amenities as being: Fitness, Restaurant, Business Centre, High Speed Internet. Could be one of the three I think. The Raddison would be great - but I suspect it could be the Park Plaza? The raddison website is advertising itself as 199 per room per night.
  17. Sorry for the confusion. I would be happy with either location as I understand them to be very central. I last bid $90 in the Copley area. Although I have noticed a 3 star in the theatre district for 118 on hotwire which looks quite good value- although one can never be sure on these things i think it is either the raddison or the doubeltree.
  18. Looking for a 4* in the above areas for 3 nights from April 21. Rebid zones seem to be Brighton, Medford and South Boston. Hva tried bids up to $90 for the copley zone. Would be happy to go to $120 if you think it would be likely to snag something?
  19. As you expected, the bids were all rejected. Any further advice?
  20. Thanks I will give this a go and let you know. Can I confirm that my rebid zone is midway?
  21. I did notice that hotel using your reverse EasyClickTravel travel tool. I would prefer to stick to the 150 range even if I have to dip back to 3*.
  22. I hope I am not being too presumptious in asking for assistance. We are looking for a 4* hotel in the Millenium Park-Loop as a first preference. Our second alternative would be the river north michigan avenue. The dates for the stay are 6-10 May 2007. Some sample hotel prices are (taken from the hotel sites). Hard rock hotel 389 a night. Hiltons (various) 289 a night. Prices seem a little high for this time which is a shame. Our maximum would be $150 at this time. Is this likely to get anything? We might be prepared to drop to 3* if you think this is more reasonable for our price range. As a first time visitor to Chicago we obviously want to be in the thick of the action and hopefully these areas fit that description and are reasonably safe. If I have stuffed this request up please let me know and I can fix it up. Thanks for a great board and service.
