I guess I need to wait a while longer before booking?

Yes, posted on the New York stay from last Spring Break in which we decided to use points and avoid high cost of New York hotels. I also posted recently for a stay in Chicago which you helped me with. Thank you, thereuare!

We ended up using Starwoods points from a credit card bonus offer for this stay. The points saved us over $500, so we couldn't continue to let the points just sit there. Unfortunately, no points left now (maybe one night at a Choice hotel property, but those are hit and miss).

We have a family wedding on Friday, March 2, 2018 - Sunday, March 4, 2018 in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The wedding hotel is the 4.5* (on Priceline) Royal Sonesta on 300 Bourbon Street. The overflow hotel is the 4* Hotel Monteleone which is about 1 block away at 214 Royal Street. Transportation to the church, reception, etc. leaves from the Royal Sonesta, however. My family of 4 is considering a Hotwire hotel in the French Quarter - Bourbon Street zone which is on Hotwire Easy View for $164 and Hotwire main page for $163, with the following amenities on the Hotwire Easy View: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower. Hotwire's main site shows these amenities: Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired (last four amenities listed on Easy View are omitted on the Hotwire main site list). The same hotel appears to be a 4* in the French Quarter - Canal Street Zone on Priceline (also 2 double beds, nonsmoking) for $160, bringing the total to under $400 for two nights. (And yes, I know that Priceline only guarantees 2 persons, but with two double beds it is the same bedding arrangement offered by Hotwire when searching for a family with 4 persons.) Any idea what this Hotwire or Priceline hotel this is? Or does anyone familiar with N.O. hotels have any other suggestions on improving our chances of a hotel within close walking distance to the Royal Sonesta? These two hotels seem to be fairly centrally located within their respective Hotwire/Priceline French Quarter zones, and the average hi-low temperature in New Orleans these dates is 69-51 makes walking (even in wedding attire) not appear to be a big deal (as long as it isn't raining in early March). We can book the Royal Sonesta for $259/night without any penalty until 20 days prior to check in. Any suggestions on strategies, or how long to wait for the best price to open up (seems like this would be a very slow season, and before Spring Break starts for most schools and school districts), would be appreciated.

We'll be in Houston for 1 night only, 6/17 - 6/18, for a wedding, and need a 2 adult/2 child room (There will be 5 of us but our 11-year-old is very petite and can sleep in bed with Mom, or a teenager sleeps on an inflatable cushion on the floor). Any suggestions in the area for hotels that offer either a King with a sofa sleeper, or two queens, and preferably a suite? Free parking is a big plus, but that is not available Downtown. Free breakfast would be great, but only one star level of 3 or better offers that and it doesn't show free parking. Need at least a 3* on Hotwire; I've been disappointed in 2 1/2*s on Hotwire in the past. 80% or better recommended is what my wife usually needs. This includes two queens or King plus sofa, so it may be my best bet. Self parking costs $9, valet is $14. Your arguments are very convincing. I didn't realize only $5/night was the price difference; I was thinking $90/night, or a savings of $19 per night x 3 = $57 plus tax and fees, was a possibility. I'm going to buy right now. Thanks again.

thereuare - Thanks for catching my misguided zone search in the Magnificent Mile - Gold Coast Zone. That's what you get for trying to search on an iPhone (as well as typing tryinging without noticing it) (-: AaronJB - thanks for the confirmation on the likelihood of the Hyatt Regency, which is definitely a close walk -- as well as apparently a fairly scenic one over the river, too. Last question: What is the likelihood of bidding in the Downtown Chicago - Millennium Park zone for a 4* and getting a better price on the Hyatt, weighed against getting another 4* that would require a hike (or worse yet a taxi) to get to the Sheraton. I know anything is possible, but you guys obviously have a great feel for the 4* candidates in this zone. I'll definitely remember to use the link you provided regardless of your suggestion. Looking like I may go solo. Any idea what this $91 Priceline Express 3 1/2* Magnificent Mile/Water Tower hotel, with these amenities is? Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities I tryinging to stay as close to Sheraton Grand as possible for my convention.

My family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) is joining me for a conference at the Sheraton Grand Chicago at 301 E. North Water St. from June 25 - 28 (3 nights). The hotel is sold out, so my preference is a room at the nearest hotel possible which will accommodate 4 people. A hotel which offered free parking and included breakfast would be a huge plus for a family of 4 with a hungry 17-year-old boy, but I didn't find any hotels offering parking and breakfast. Here is what I've found on Hotwire: 3.5* $119/night, 90% recommended. Amenities: Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access 4* $115/night, 75% recommended. Amenities: Pet friendly, Boutique, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant, Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Children's activities 4.5* $164/nt 100% recommended. Amenities: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Children's activities The 3.5* looks like the best option on price and recommendation combo, and if it is the DoubleTree, that is a close 6-minute walk. I just don't want the Indigo which is the opposite end of the Magnificent Mile. Since we are driving to Chicago, and will have to park our car, another option is staying at a hotel outside Downtown with free parking and free breakfast, and near a Subway station. I could then take the Subway to the Grand station and walk to the Sheraton Grand. Not sure if the savings on parking/breakfast is worth the extra effort, though. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

My wife and 10 year old daughter will share one double room in NY City for a total of 5 nights, 3/17 - 3/22/16. The reason for our trip is to see our son's choir perform at Carnegie Hall on 3/21/16. (I know my 10-year old breaks the 2 person rule, but she is small and sleep on a pad on the floor if needed.) We are meeting up with friends on the last two days, 3/20 - 3/22, and would like to stay as close to Carnegie Hall as possible -- Midtown East, or maybe South Central Park or Rockefeller Center during our last two nights. Even Times Square or Grand Central zones look close and might be ok if they are safe, or possibly Upper West Side or Midtown West if rates are better in those areas. As is obvious, we have considerable flexibility and are mainly concerned with price, but don't want to get too far away from Carnegie Hall for our last two nights. We would prefer staying in a 4* for at least the last two nights. Of course staying in a 4* the entire 5-day stay wouldn't be bad if we could find something very affordable - like under $140 - $150 if possible. We are also willing to go to a 3* if needed to stay under $140. I know this will be a different post, but for the first three nights we are hoping to stay in any zone -- including lower Manhattan -- that is much cheaper. We could split our 5 nights into 3 nights and then 2, or 2 nights and then 3, if that might help in getting in a better priced hotel or zone. Finally, do you expect prices to improve slightly before these dates, or should we go ahead and buy now? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
