  1. Really excited about this one! Thought I was underbidding (had a budget of $200) but... got it on the first try!
  2. We're heading to the Open for 3 days (4th, 5th and 7th) and anytime we're not there, we expect to be in Manhattan. I assumed it would be cheaper to stay near LGA, instead of Manhattan, but definitely wouldn't mind staying in Manhattan either. At least 3 stars, if possible. PRICELINE link clicked! Thanks in advance for the help!
  3. Hi all, I was hoping to get some help with getting 1 hotel room (preferably in the La Guardia area, since we're heading to the US Open) for September 4 - 7. Not really sure what price range we should be aiming for, but we were hoping for $120-$150. Not quite sure that's possible, given the US Open rush. Is there another area in/around NYC that's convenient for non drivers and cheaper to stay in? Thanks!
  4. First tried for 4/25-4/30, but nothing was accepted for 4* in any area, bids starting from $60 and going up to $90. Then tried $60 for 4* French Quarter or Downtown from 4/25-4/29 and was accepted on the first go. Used the forum's PRICELINE link!
  5. Just used your PRICELINE link to book a room at the 4* Sheraton Toronto Centre for Halloween. They accepted my first bid of $50. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for all the helpful advice! I checked HOTWIRE one last time for the original rate - and found it! So, we're booked for quad occupancy at the Holiday Inn Express by Madison Square Gardens for $129 a night, which is perfect for us. The amenities listed are the same as the ones on your master post. Thanks again!
  7. I checked again (and again) and it's nowhere to be found. The price was perfect for us as it came to $314 with tax (and breakfast!) included, for 2 nights. Sorry I couldn't wait 12 hours - I need to be at work soon and won't be back at my computer until late evening. If you can help, please do!
  8. It's gone! I went to book it just now (since it's non refundable, I hate to wait and get confirmation from the friends I'm traveling with) and it's no longer there. We really don't want to spend more than $400 (total) for 2 nights in the city.
  9. done. (sorry about not following-up on that - we didn't end up using hotwire, so it totally slipped my mind :))
  10. Sorry about not following up here - we actually didn't use hotwire, getting a great deal instead at the 3* YWCA (right across the Bell Centre) which worked out to about $80/night.
  11. A hotwire search for June 30th - July 2nd (based on 4 people per room) gave me this: 3* $129/night in Midtown South - amenities: breakfast, buisness, fitness, hi-speed From the other threads here, it seems like a match for The Holiday Inn Express. Now, we don't mind sharing 1 king size bed (we're 4 fairly tiny girls anyways), but 2 double beds would be ideal. Is there any hope of getting a better deal? Currently we have a booking with The Carlton on Madison Avenue for $169/night (1 king size bed). The price is more of a priority than hotel quality (we intend to be out enjoying the city until the point of exhaustion!), but is it worth it to pay the extra $20 a person to stay at The Carlton?
  12. Hey everyone, So I really want to try Hotwire.com because so far, the rest of the internet hasn't been turning up anything good. Montreal's a very expensive city, it would seem. I'm searching for triple occupancy, Aug. 26-28th: 1) 4* Hotel -- Fitness, Restaurant, Business - $131 2) 2.5* Hotel -- Breakfast, Fitness, Business, Laundry - $93 (I'm assuming this is the Holiday Inn Express?) Based on double occupancy, I can get: 1) 4* Hotel -- Fitness, Restaurant, Business - $100 2) 3* Hotel -- Shuttle, Fitness, Restaurant - $77 So, can anyone help me verify this? And, I assume that if we go for a 4* star hotel - the standard rooms would have at least two double beds, so even if we declared double occupancy, we could get away with having 3 people in the room right? Lastly, it says that "Primary guest must be at least 21 years old and present at check in". How strict are they with this? We'll be travelling as two 20 year old's and one 19 year old who's 1 month away from turning 20.
