  1. This is for Zone 1 in the Alpharetta area of Atlanta. I bid 48 and it was immediately accepted. 7*+, pool, exercise room, free parking and office were the amenities. It was the doubletree by hilton on Winward which was a fantastic location, Unfortunately the hotel was horrible. Stains on the walls, blood stains on carpet, feces on the wall that I asked to have removed 2x before they moved me, cracked shower tubs in all 3 rooms they moved me to, noise-noise-noise, paper thin walls and Hilton gave me 3 free days after a complaint with pictures. Do Not Stay here. It's the only 3.5 star in Aplharetta zone 1 and you have been warned..
  2. Hi All, I'm sure not a lot of people stop in Montpelier Ohio but I go for family that lives in the area. List price was $110 per night and I got it for $80 a night. It's a great hotel, have won it before and am extremely happy with it. 2.5 stars is misleading as it's a nice place, nice pool, good business center, great breakfast, clean rooms. Am currently biding on a car for DTW and will post when I win..... Thanks
  3. Thanks for the bidding tactic and after reading a little more in the Priceline Re-Bidding thread (actually reading it again) I understand the strategy. I looked and the cheapest 5* in the city was the Palace Hotel for $300. I was half way through my first bidding series..... and bid $270 and my offer was accepted. Taxes and Fees added brings the price to $326.81.Basically it saved me $30 but that will cover most of the Valet, so I'm happy it worked out. Thanks for the help!!
  4. Thanks for the forum and the bidding strategy guide, I've been doing something wrong so I thought I'd ask for help. I'm staying in San Fransisco for one night after a wine country tour and would like to stay at a 4.5*-5* hotel if possible for around $325ish, if not possible, I'd look at a 4* as well. I'll have a rental car from the Napa trip, so I know I'll be paying a large fee for Valet.... The area's I really would like are Union Square/Nob Hill, Fisherman's Wharf or Embarcadero but I'm open as I know that public transit in SFO is good and that I'm bidding on star ratings. I really want to avoid the Tenderloin and SOMA as I hear that they are not great area's. Here's what I've bid so far (and Lost)..... trying re-bidding (across zones) and just plain bidding. If I can get help with a re-bidding strategy, I'd greatly appreciate it. Staying Oct.3rd for one night: Union Sq. FW Embarcadero/Financial 4* $210 3.5* $220 4.5* $282 $220 4.5* $225 $283 (which was a "Recent Winning Bid on their website for that zone) RWB $240 $235 $295 4.5* $222 5* $285 $300 $230 RWB $295 5* $300 5* $240 $300 $252 $260 Anyways.... I admit I need a better strategy to win and would appreciate the help of a tenured member. I'll contribute as I travel often and try to repay the favors with winning bids and strategys once I cut my teeth a bit more.
  5. Hello all, Been using the board for a long time and wanted to start contributing as well. I want to first say a big "Thanks" to everyone who posts and helps everyone else save money! I'm flying into SFO and doing the wine country thing with the wife and wanted a nice full size rental car so we could be comfortable. Thought I would start low and then work my way up from there, but got it accepted on my first bid. Details of my trip are: Picking car up @6 p.m. on Sept. 29th and droping it off @10 p.m. on Oct. 4th. I bid $11 dollars a day and it was immediately accepted. The rental car company is Hertz and with taxes/fees my total is 153.58. Normally I expect to end up in the 15-20 range (works in HNL and other places) and I was pleasantly surprised by the quick accept. Now on to the hotel for one night that we are spending in the city before our flight home..... Hope this is a good post for the forum as it is my first... Thanks again,,
