  1. First bid accepted at $110. Final price paid with taxes and fees = $131.99. Used BB link for Price.line. The bid was, of course, for double occupancy, but they let us switch from a king bedroom to a room with two queens and bring our two kids as well as the two adults. No charge.
  2. Initial bid of $65 was not accepted. Priceline offered a chance to immediately rebid for $76, but I declined and waited until I could bid again. $70 won. Final price with taxes and fees = $85.24. Used BB link for Price.line.
  3. Bid for 4.5* for Louisville - Downtown at $85: Rejected Priceline offered to let me immediately rebid at $105 -- I declined Rebid for 4* Louisville - Downtown at $90: Accepted. Total price with taxes & fees: $111.32
  4. Bid first for 5* up to $210 unsuccessfully over several days. Then started with 4*. $200 not accepted. $207 accepted the next day. Cologne is the biggest convention city in Germany, with lots of international business folk. Rates vary tremendously day-by-day depending on the conventions in town. I saw someone posted on BB that they have a 5* Marriott the to stay the day after my date for half this price on Priceline!
  5. I had previously bid $175 for all of NYC below the Park, except for Soho-Financial and Empire State regions for this period and there were no takers. I then increased the bid to $195 and added Empire State, which then picked up the Affinia Dumont in Midtown East.
  6. Thanks, will do. We were disappointed to stay at the Crowne Plaza in Hilton Head Island when other Priceline users landed the Westin nearby. Both are in Priceline's "Resort" category, but they are not in the same class! I would rate the Crowne Plaza a full star less than the Westin. Oh well, still a good deal, but I won't use PRICELINE again for Resorts at HHI.
  7. 1st bid accepted Taxes charged additionally: $20.85 (for entire stay)
  8. Placed these bids on the same day as check-in, so I may have gotten a better deal than someone trying a month in advance. I first bid for a Resort, South Shore, Kauai at $189 - rejected. Priceline offered me an immediate rebid opportunity if I upped my price $25 - I declined. Then had my successful bid as above. Hilton added $12/day as a mandatory "Resort Fee" which is really a bogus way of making their prices look cheaper by separating out part of the price. Overall, a nice hotel stay - very nice for a 3*, but definitely not in the same class as the "Resort" class hotels on Kauai like the Hyatt. :)
  9. Originally bid $13/day for mid-size. Rejected. Rebid at $16/day for compact. Accepted on 2/24/07.
  10. A friend going on the same trip unsuccessfully bid at $110 for Downtown Vancouver for 4* and again unsuccessful for 3* hotels. I bid $131 and picked up the Marriott, 3 days in advance, staying Friday-Sunday July 28-30. The Marriott staff told me at check-in that the hotel was overbooked, which may be why people on these Forums are saying their bids are not being accepted at some of the previous lower rates, if other hotels are equally well booked. But then I wonder why they picked up my bid at $131 (which is about half the "regular" rate for that room).
