  1. Tried again and still no joy, the offer was on my last bid of $100, I went up to $110 but still no luck. While searching through a few other sites found The Wellington Hotel on offer with Hotels.com which will cost me the equivalent of $120 INC taxes. Pretty good deal I thought, so sorted for me stay now. Thanks for all the help on here, much appreciated
  2. I tried all the zones you suggested (inc MTE) and dropped to 2.5* I did bid systematically and worked my way to $100 but no joy (was secretly hoping for the Affinia 50), when I got to $100 it did say I can try the exact same request again if I increased my bid by $22
  3. Having had a think about it, I'm happy to drop to 2.5*, the ideal areas are, CPS, ESB, MDW and Times Square. I've seen similar suggestions of strategies to start low and add a zone and $5 to my bid everytime I rebid (and to use the links on here everytime!) I might have a look about at what other winning bidders have bid on and got, I know it's by no means what I will get but gives me an idea Thanks for all your help so far
  4. Pretty pleased especially when their own rates are $230 for the cheapest room on those dates
  5. Not really, thought it might save me some money on the hotels but not sure thats the case, which area is classed as midtown?
  6. Been looking at other more successful bids and looks like I may have to increase my budget to get a nice hotel?
  7. Thanks, you think it's worth looking at another area? Or increasing my budget or dropping my * rating?
  8. Looking to book a hotel Downtown New York for these dates, minimum 3* with a budget of around
  9. Just realised I should have put Sunday 2nd May NOT April! But if we still use this thread to discuss that block and I'll start another thread for the other block
  10. Cheers, is it worth changing the title of this thread? I guess for this block I'd prefer to stay around Central Park or Times Square. I haven't really got an exact budget in mind but was hoping to try and spend around
  11. Looking to book some hotels for New York, minimum 3* and centrally located. We're staying for 3 nights from Tues 27th April and another 3 from May 2-May 5. Is it too early too book? Can anyone recommend which areas to look at? I don't mind doing a few days around Central Park and doing the other block Downtown
  12. Placed a bid for 4* in the East zone for $90 and won it straight away, it's listed as $219 dollars a night normally on the Priceline site.
  13. Good hotel in the downtown end of LV, nice hotel but getting sum refurb work done at the moment, staff very nice and friendly. Despite saying you can onyl check-in after 3pm checked in at 1 with no problems. Very large room. Pool was shut.
  14. Generally an 'OK' hotel, easy to find and well located, internet cafe across the road and planty of fast food places within spitting distance. Hotel itself is clean and staff are very friendly and helpful, got an upgrade to a very large room. Rooms and the hotel itself are a little dated but clean and no complaints from me. It's undergoing a refurb at the moment. Pool area is small but again clean and fine.
  15. Nice hotel but definately aimed at the people with money and young (!). I liked the decor and staff were friendly and nice, the manager incharge of the valet could maybe do with some 'people' skills but all other staff were nice. Room was small but nice and very clean. Be warned mini-bar charges for everything. Location is excellent and the pool area is very very nice. Got a bargain of a price so can't complain.
  16. Very nice hotel in a nice location with good facilities, pool area is nice. Staff are very nice and helpfu, except for the concierge, the hotel doesn't come up on sat nav systems and neither does the toad which this is off, the concierge was less then useless and directed me to the OTHER end of the Pacific Coast Highway, about 10 minutes away by car! In the end got a very helpful member of staff (Ben) who knew exactly where I was and got me there no problem, checkin-in staff made sure my room was ready and pre-checked me in as well as upgrading me to a bigger room free of charge! Generally very good experience just problem with finding it. Oh and in response to the hunch, nothing of the sort for me, the free upgrade shows that!
  17. Great! Just my luck! Thanks for letting me know anyway, don't think it reads much better on Trip Advisor either.
  18. Thanks, will do, not just on Trip Advisor but on here too, would it just be this section? Looking at actual hotel rates think I've done really well on all of them. I did read varied rates too but thought it was around $18, oh well.
