Using the PRICELINE links above, began bidding again this morning. Started at $190 for Quincey Market. Turned down but Priceline offered $240. I added another zone and rebid at $205. Won the Onyx. The two rooms on Hotwire have the following ammenities; Can you tell which hotels they might be? 4.5* at $185 (However I think Hotwire includes the waterfront in their Quincey Market area and this may be the Intercontinental where I prefer not to stay) fitness center pool restaurant business center spa 4* at $233 fitness center restaurant business center
I could use some help. I will be in Boston one night Sat. October 9th 2010 and I am looking for a 4 Star room in the Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial district. With the help of this board and free rebids I have placed 12 bids starting at $150 up to $205 with no luck. : ( I am not flexible as to dates, star level and area and realize that this may be a major roadblock to a "deal". Hotwire has two 4 - 4.5 star rooms available for $229 plus tax etc. My questions are; 1) In your experience, how much risk am I taking waiting to see if more rooms are made available or a drop in price? 2) Should I be doing something different in my bidding strategy? 3) Is there something happening in Boston on this date that is driving the prices up? 4) Am I naive in thinking that I can get a room for a lower price? :/ Thanks for any assistance. I need bidding advise for a stay in Boston. Specifically I would like to stay downtown in the Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial district (3.5 to 4.5 star range) I need one possibly two rooms for the nights of Oct. 11th and 12th. 2008 My research is showing fairly high rates for this time period. I don't see any wins in this Oct. timeframe posted. Am I too early to start? I recognize that bidding for 4 star hotels allows me 3 free rebid zones but I don't quite know what price range to start with . Can you suggest a strategy?
I am traveling to Boston Oct 11th - 13th with two adults and two children. I have read a few posts of individuals that won a hotel to find they included two twinbeds. Is there a certain star level that guarantees two queen beds or a king? I really do not want to stay in more than one room. Do I change my strategy at all?
Bid all possible scenarios as directed and rejected. :) However went through the HOTWIRE link and got the Hilton Boston Financial District for: $117 plus $21 taxes etc. total of $138. :) Thank you for all of your help, and I learned a lot!
I'm obviously a newby here. :) When I did my research I didn't find any 4 star hotels for less than $240.00 with the exception of the Hilton Financial for $112. I was thinking that this was a mistake and thought I would have to bid much higher to get a 4 star or better. I think what you are suggesting is to bid with a cap of $112 and I could possibly get this hotel or another for less than that amount? Where do you suggest I start?

I might be willing to go a little more if I knew it were a nicer hotel. Out of curiosity, is there an indirect coorelation to prices offered on Hotwire and winning bid prices on Priceline?
I need help with a bidding strategy for Downtown Boston. I would like to be as close to Fannuel Hall as possible. I would like a 4 star room for the night of Sun. Oct. 8th. In my research I became a little confused by star ratings. Hotwire has ratings up to a five star hotel but Priceline only goes to a 4 star property. Can anyone explain the difference? Hotwire had one 4 star hotel available for purchase at $112.00. Judging by amenities propably Hilton Financial. This seemed to be too good to be true as all other 4 star properties offered on Hotwire averaged about $275/night. Is there something wrong with this property? Hotwire prices for 5 star properties average about $400/night. Bidding strategy: There appears to be three free rebids by combining with South Boston, Medford Somerville, and Brighton Brookline Zones? I am having a difficult time knowing what price to start with? Do I start with a certain percentage below what is available? Would you suggest reserving the $112 property as a backup? Is there a strategy for bidding the better properties within this zone? Any help would be appreeciated. Thankyou
