  1. Okay so

    $121 4* Times Square North

    ==> Hotel Manhattan at Times Square upgraded to the 4* level since it was last reported to the board (but does the $28 resort fee here put you over budget??)

    ==> Because of the resort fees I didn't think this was a good choice for me.

    $129 4* Times Square South,

    ==> Row NYC (upgraded to the 4* level level since last reported to the board... but again, does the resort fee put you over budget??)

    ==> Was gone by the time I went back to Hotwire.

    $131 4* Rockefeller Center

    ==> the Club Quarters Rockefeller Center would be a guess but i'm not 100% certain

    ==> Was gone also.

    So from about 2 hours ago, from Biddinghelper, all I could see (below $140) was $139 Theatre District - MTW, which I feared was Yotel, and $139 TS North with $30 resort fee which was out of my budget.

    Then I went back to Priceline bidding and the weirdest thing happened.

    I was bidding for TS and Rockefeller 4* for $130, $135, both rejected. Counteroffers were still at $158.

    Then I went for a $140, which was my absolute maximum budget, and the bid was rejected but the counteroffer was now at $165-ish.

    This had never happened to me before when using NYOP, so I thought I was somewhere close and then went for a $141. Voila.

    Club Quarters across Rockefeller Center.

    If I had listened to you and chosen the $131 at Hotwire, it might have been cheaper but as of now I am happy with the location of the hotel. The reviews at Tripadvisor is not ideal, but fingers crossed.

    Thank you both so much for helping me out with a long and frightening NYC hotel booking process.

  2. ~$140/nite hotels in zones MTE, Rockefeller C, MTW, TSS, TSN when I tried searching in Bidding Helper -> Hotwire Easy View tab;

    $121 4* Times Square North, FULL AMENITIES: Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower

    $129 4* Times Square South, FULL AMENITIES: Boutique hotel, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility

    $131 4* Rockefeller Center, FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access

    Just realized now that I am trolling in a Priceline NYC forum with a basically Hotwire post. Sorry guys..

  3. Thanks for the suggestions, AaronJB and thereuare.

    I think the prices might have changed and I don't see the hotels you've mentioned.

    Currently I see these hotels that I think are worth considering (@hotwire);

    4* MTE, $128, Boutique hotel, smoke-free rooms, fitness center, restaurants, business center

    4* Rockefeller Center, $134, Smoke-free rooms, fitness center, restaurants, business center

    4* MTE boutique, $138, Boutique hotel, fitness center, restaurants, business center

    (free internet for all of them)

    I know it's not much to guess on... but any ideas what they might be?

    I am leaning towards $128 which is a total of ~$1360 which is what I expected, but like Aaron said it may be too east for wondering around the city.

    But Hotwire is saying "This hotel's location earned it a 4.5/5 guest rating" :S

  4. Hi, I am travelling NYC from July 1st to 9th and looking for a 4* hotel.

    Preferred zones are MTE, MTW, TS. I have stayed at the Hudson Hotel last time which is at Central Park South, and felt that closer to TS and southern areas of NYC would be nicer.

    But I don't know if MSG or ESB areas are good areas for tourists to stay, so your opinions on it would be much appreciated.

    $130 per night is my maximum budget. If the hotel is super nice, I might be able to convince my travel companion for a $140, but I don't really see it happening.

    Travel plans are, for now, mostly 2+ musicals at Broadway, general tourist spots in the city (Rockefeller, ESB, Brooklyn bridge) and couple of out-of-city journeys (amusement parks, outlet shopping malls)

    Any recommendations much appreciated.
