  1. We want to stay 2 nights in the Canadian site of the Niagara Falls. Any tips for bidding strategies ? Thanks (PS, as always I will use the link)
  2. We are currently in the Toronto Downtown Inter Continental on Front street and it's awesome. We are on the top-floor (25th) and are VERY close to the CN tower. There is free internet, normally 9,95 + tax but in the directory it says 'free' so I called the front desk and after a chat with the manager they gave me free internet for 24hours. The city is very nice but the hotel is more than I had expected.
  3. hi, I will try too book a 3* in this area right now, otherwiwse I will just drive out of the city and try to find a cheaper hootel foro 70 CAD or something similar (Days Inn, Motel6, Comfort Inn, Best Western) we don't mind having a cheaper hotel but if you compare the priceline price and the 'on the desk' price it's ridiculous.... we will be driving to Niagara Falls after the next 2 nights, so south of Toronto should be fine. I will let you know. thanks so far (are you online 24 h a day ? ;-))
  4. I tried bidding up to $120 for this area but no luck. Other options is to go for 3 star or normal website booking. Any suggestions ? I already have the Intercontinental Front Street for 10/2 - 10/3 so I really want to stay close to it or otherwise outside the city since we have a car. Any suggestion for parking ?
  5. It seems I can see the hotel info online now via priceline.com $77 was my first bid because I had so many problems with the previous attempts. (total amount is 95.79 dollars) This is the intercontinental at 225 Frontn Street. Any good suggestions for hotel nearby ? For the 2nd night I tried bidding up to 120 dollar but no luck. I think I need to find some hotel on the outside of the city. Or maybe you have some good thoughts ? (it's getting close to tomorrow already ;-))
  6. thanks, just when you replied on this message I got the Intercontinental for $77 Strange enough I didn't get an email about this, only the not-succesfull try for the 2nd night :) Thanks, any suggestions ?
  7. Started with 60 dollar and went up to 80 dollar with using all free-re-bid zones. No luck, maybe I should try bidding 1 night first ?
  8. Via the savingsbarn.com link: 3 * Westin for saturday (tomorrow), 1 night. First tried 64 dollar, refused. Re-tried with 70 dollar and won the Westin. 70 + 17.89 = 87.89 dollar
  9. Thanks for all your efforts. I will let you know what I do. thanks
  10. No backup yet. We are flexbile, can stay even 50 miles around Boston if needed. We have a car, so pay 20$ for sure for parking. Anyway.. max bid was 160
  11. $130 4* Copley $155 rebid with adding Medford $160 rebid with adding South no luck... $130 4* Downtown $155 rebid with adding Medford $160 rebid with adding South no luck... $150 4* Copley & Downtown $155 rebid with adding Medford $160 rebid with adding South no luck... ---- Question... Should I try it next week ? Or is that just even worse ?
  12. Hi, Did exactly what you suggested. $120 4* Downtown $140 rebid with adding Medford $145 rebid with adding South no luck... $120 4* Copley $140 rebid with adding Medford $145 rebid with adding South no luck... $150 4* Copley & Downtown $155 rebid with adding Medford $160 rebid with adding South no luck...
  13. I want to pay 170 max... Or maybe less for 3 * hotel. Brighton - Brookline
  14. First tried Copley 4* for 110 Added Medford-Somerville and raised to 125 Added South Boston and raised to 135 Added downtown and raised to 138 Any advice ? seems the zones on Priceline are different than on the FAQ...
  15. Thanks... I've booked the Belleclaire for 199 in october , nice king room and very friendly it's cance-able but we'll see... maybe I like it :)
  16. May I ask you where you booked it and for how much ? Is it no problem to cancel it ? When I try to book it via marriot.com I got a rate of 499 per night. (even with AAA rate)
  17. Glenn... where did you book your canceable backup ?
  18. So... I have almost the same 'problem'... I want to stay 10-10 - 15/10 (or 10/15 as they say in the US) It seems hotel are asking skyhigh rates in this period. I don't understand why I paid 140 dollar before for the Paramount and 99 dollar foor the Quality Inn @times square and now it's almost 3 times that price. Anyway... On this forum they suggest you to book a hotel which you can cancel. In the meantime, come back to this site/priceline and keep on bidding. That's how I do it, besides that I need to make a decision about the hotel for backup ;-)
  19. Thanks. It will be th 4th time NYC for us. The last time was the one with the big US blackout :) I will keep on trying to bid (split) and otherwise I will book something next weekend. I've seen that some hotels have higher prices during the week, others during the weekend :) PS, tried MTE, MTW, Central Park South.. Up to 190 dollar (using the link)
  20. I was looking for a backup-price somewhere else but didn't book yet because most of the hotels have higher prices if you book the canceable price... I would like to stay near Times Square or Central Park South thanks, I keep on bidding an when leaving netherlands 23 september I take a little laptop with me with wireless so I can maybe book something when I'm travelling around the US. OR do you think to have the booking in place before I go ? is october a difficult period ?
  21. 3 nights - 10/10 - 10/13 4 * hotel 1) Midtown west ----> 140 dollar 2) Midtown west + upper west --> 158 dollar 3) midtown west + upper west + upper east --> 165 dollar 4) midtown west + upper west + upper east + central park south --> 172 dollar not succesfull
  22. Hi, I'm still looking for a 4* hotel midtown or central park south. I already tried to bid up to $225 but without luck. Any suggestions ? I saw a post someone got 171 for the 4* 10-08/10-10. I know how priceline works, I tried to first bid for 170 in Midtown west. Than raised the bid with Central Park south, again with Upper West, again with Upper East but it seems just a very expensive period. Please help... I already booked flight, car (for periode before we end our trip in NYC) thanks Hans netherlands
